Run, don't walk, to the best restaurant experience in Palm Springs... by far. It's hard to explain, but every aspect of the meal was wonderful.
As a part time resident of the area I believe I have experienced most all of the local restaurants. My dinner was superb. The setting is near impossible to match. The menu great. Service impeccable.
While the ambiance was very nice, the food was quite mediocre.
I don’t understand all of the bad reviews. We had a perfect evening. Great and courteous service, delicious food, vegan options, nice wine list, and we were there for about 2 .5 hours. Could not have been batter
The quality of the food was matched by the outstanding service. This was one of dinners I have had in a long time. The grilled octopus appetizer was superb.
I contemplated cancelling my reservation after reading some of these reviews - including from earlier in the day. I decided to give it a go - that was the wrong decision. The most redeeming quality of this restaurant is the atmosphere. The restaurant is GROSSLY understaffed. There are 2 waitresses and 2 bus staff running around trying to take care of the entire place. It doesn’t appear that they are assigned specific tables because one took a drink
order and never returned and the other took the food order and never returned. The bus kids delivered the food and asked to refill water and kept apologizing for what they obviously recognize as a flawed system. There is zero prep work done for the service. They have the bus kid switching out gas tanks on heat lamps while you are trying to eat with guests complaining that they smell propane. The least helpful and most clueless of all is the cocky manager who is also filling in as the host. He’s rude and condescending and real in to telling you what a lovely time he thinks you are having. It’s a long wait for everything. My drink arrived after my first course. That was the only drink I was offered the entire meal. The food is mediocre - certainly not good enough to make you forgive the complete disarray of the service. Don’t waste your time.
This was the worst experience/service I have had at what is supposed to be an upscale restaurant. We were greeted with a glass of champagne, which was very nice, but it was all downhill from there. We were sat at our table which took about 15 minutes even though we had reservations. We wait about 15 more minutes and finally got water. 20 minutes into this we told the hostess our waiter had not yet come to our table. She apologized and I assumed went the find him or her. No one can. 40 minutes into our wait another guest approached our table and asked if they had taken our order. We said no that we had been seated for 40 minutes and had not even had a drink order taken. He said the same thing said he was furious and ready to walk out, we concurred. Then we noticed another couple also asking about their waiter. A waiter finally came to another table so we along with the other guest asked if he could take our order? His response was that he was not our waiter and he would check,. He disappeared and we continued to wait a few more minutes. It was at this point we decided to just leave. We asked the bus person for our check for the water. She apologized and said no charge. We got up and left and wished the other guest luck getting served. We don’t know if they left as well but he did say who was about ready to. I did read the reviews about this restaurant before reserving and this poor service was mentioned. There were also other better reviews so I gave it a shot. I should have gone with the reviews. Suggest you look into another place for dinner because these people have some serious customer issues that need working out.
This is a beautiful space with a great looking menu unfortunately we were disappointed.
We were met with a complimentary glass of Champaign very nice. The space is beautiful. The drinks were delicious and unique.
The disappointment came with the food. We shared the barrata appetizer which looked lovely but was so bland and tasteless. For our entrees my partner had the fish which was very good. I had the gnocchi which was raw and swimming is a tasteless broth. The server was very nice but seemed to be overwhelmed as we rarely saw him. No one ever checked on us after we got our food. When they came for our plates finally I sent mine back uneaten.
The waiter came to take our desert order without acknowledging the returned entree. When I told him about it he told me he would take it off the check. We had the chocolate desert which was very pretty. We substituted the ice cream for raspberry sorbet which was not good.
No manager or chef ever came to inquire about what had happened and we waited a very long time for the check.
This is Modernism Week and Valentines weekend. I would think you would use this as the time to shine but it seemed they were understaffed and overwhelmed.
This is a beautiful space with a very creative looking menu. I really want to love this place and will come again. I hope our next experience lives up to the potential.

We had dinner here on Valentine’s Day- which was just a fluke because we happened to be on vacation on Valentine’s Day. We made the reservation about a month in advance not even noticing the date. Our experience reconfirmed why we never go out to dinner on Valentine’s Day!
The ambience and food was impeccable- met our high standards of the place. But the service was SO slow- our dinner was 3.5 hours! I am all for relaxing on vacation but this was a bit extreme. There was a number of silly experiences like a bus girl running into our table and spilling a bottle of water on us, and then our entrees arrived before the course before it. We observed many couples asking for the manager to complain about the slow pace of the meal. The place was clearly NOT running smoothly that night. And then to top it off, the bill was super expensive since it was a prix fixe menu. Unfortunately this experience has tarnished our memory of this special place- we will not be back anytime soon.
Beautiful setting, menu and service...and perfect portion size!
My overall score is a 4/5 because most of this outdoor restaurant floor is gravel. I live here in the desert but when I go to a high end restaurant I dress up and wear heels, and the one thing I don't want to do is mess up my heel while walking on gravel.
Lovely, hard to find spot. Google sent us to the wrong place andnI had to call the restaurant. Sign was poorly lit as well. Garden is very nice, romantic. But we were only one if three tabkes on a Wed night. Menu on their website is not the same as the prix fix, a very good value at $65 pp, that we ordered. So maybe they need to update their web info. The Mont Blanc dessert and short ribs are to die for.
It was extraordinary!! The food was perfection, the service flawless and the atmosphere was inviting and chic! The best!!!
One of the best meals I have ever had, I cannot rave about the dishes enough. The following night I went to another restaurant, looked at the menu, and without hesitation was welcomed back at So.Pa. I had the venison carpaccio, scallops and panna cotta on the first night and on my return had burrata and just had to have the scallops again. Definitely the highlight of my stay in Palm Springs. PS: Nick (the server) is knowledgable, helpful, warm and a delight. Thanks everyone, not forgetting the two chefs, at So. Pa. Au revoir.
The setting was stunning, service excellent, however the food was unremarkable. I ordered sea bass for $42. It was about the size of a deck of cards with 3 pieces of fried zucchini flower and a teaspoon of some sort of hummus thing, no greens, no bueno. My date had eggplant that tasted like shoe leather.

Third or fourth time there. This time, by far, the most ridiculously small portions and expensive. I don't mind expensive if the food is good.....but we spend a small fortune and left hungry. Won't be going back.
We loved the ambiance and the food, unfortunately the service was bad! Our waiter seemed rushed and unattentive, and unfortunately it was not a good experience service wise. More training of the waiters is needed.

We've eaten here before and the food has been great both times. However, the ownership cut back the staff to TWO people who are trying to run the restaurant and the front desk of the hotel. Truly horrible service experience. I really felt bad for the two guys. One couple finally got up and left after just throwing some money on the table. Drinks were coming after portions of the meal, we had to go find someone to get our check, then they couldn't run a split bill, then we had to go track down where our credit cards were, and then they told us they couldn't provide a receipt of any kind. The ownership of this establishment owes everyone who ate there that night a redo. Very sad because this is a beautiful spot for dinner.

Great experience. Good food, excellent romantic atmosphere outdoor dining with fire lit torches under the trees and excellent service! A bit pricy but worth it.
The service was good, but it was very dark. It was hard to read the menu and see the food on the plate.
It was over 100’, but the misters went on & off, so one moment it was comfortable, the next too hot.
The food was good, but very small portions for a high price.
Food was not as good as the last time I went there. I got the duck confit ravioli. The pasta was thick and hard, not a melt in your mouth pasta. Also, the watermelon salad was not good either. The service and ambiance was great.

The service is absolutely wonderful. Thank you David for being such as tentative waiter. Even though there's a new chef, I absolutely loved the new menu and food. This is a gourmet experience not to miss. I don't know of any other place in the area that has food prepared like this.
Ambiance was great. Service wasn’t very attentive, had to ask almost three times for extra focaccia before they brought it.
The atmosphere was lovely. The staff was friendly, but it took 20 minutes to get a drink at the bar. Everyone who was STAYING at the hotel that sat at the bar AFTER us were served drinks first, even though ours had been ordered already. We we got them they were delicious (as were the appetizers wer ordered) and the servers were really sweet. Unfortunately, my friend I was having dinner with wanted to leave by the time we got our table for dinner, because it was too hot out for her.... it was a bummer for me and the menu looked amazing!
