About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
  • Neighborhood gem
The Bistro at Muriel’s Jackson Square offers contemporary Creole cuisine with New Orleans classics like Seafood Gumbo, Turtle soup, Shrimp & Grits and Wood Grilled Pork Chop while the Courtyard Bar is the perfect place to drop by for drinks and appetizers. The Séance Lounge is the place for a relaxed, comfortable meeting before or after dining. Comprised of two areas, The Outer Seance and The Inner Séance, the Séance also tells the story of a mystic checkered past. The Outer Séance addresses the New Orleans era of Storyville when Muriel's Jackson Square was one of the French Quarter's top bordellos! The Inner Séance is the preferred domain of the resident ghost, Pierre Antoine Lepardi Jourdan; it's the perfect spot for an intimate conversation or a drink among its plush surroundings. The 170 foot wrap-around balcony is a splendid spot for enjoying our specialty cocktails or our extensive wine list featuring over 300 selections from around the world.

We were excited to try this restaurant based on several recommendations. We typically sit at the bar and the bartender was EXTREMELY rude - to both customers and colleagues. After trying the appetizers, we closed our check and chose to leave. As we were leaving, I let the manager know of the behavior and his response was, "sorry about that' followed by "sweetheart or darling." Not what can we do to make your experience better, just sorry about that. I always give the ratings on my experience and they are typically very positive reviews. I never make comments with my reviews but felt that others should know how disappointing this experience was.

Brunch was mediocre. Jazz performance I expected more. Probably won’t return.

We went for brunch and I had the Breakfast Po-Boy and it was delicious. The drinks were good and the jazz band was great and it was definitely worth the experience. I would go there again for sure.

I’ve never been disappointed in Muriel’s until this visit. Our food server seemed annoyed. Beverage server was perfect. Seared Scallops were cold. Noise level was ridiculously loud.

Food was just ok and definitely not work the price. It was super loud in there. I was dining alone and treated like a 2nd class citizen due to this. I dine out a lot solo as I’m out of town for work. Some restaurants treat you kindly and some will give you the worst possible table and snub you. This place is the bad kind to dine alone at.

Loved the Shrimp n Grits- my husband thought the Turtle Soup to be excellent. My Shrimp and Eggplant appetizer was not as warm as expected and flavor was sub par Service from cocktail waiter and food waiter excellent Only thing I disliked was the automatic service charge- we were a party of two who were happy with the service- why not let us choose the tip?
