Traditional meets modern in this new age Caribbean cuisine restaurant brought you by Chef Tavel Bristol-Joseph of E&R Hospitality Group.

Named after the Canje pheasant, national bird of Guyana, Canje pulls inspiration not just from mainland Guyana, but from Jamaica to Puerto Rico, and all the islands in between. Our menu explores the cooking techniques, ingredients, and many expressions of vibrant food across the region.

Tucked away on the east side of Austin, this lively environment brings a unique cocktail program boasting both spirit forward and fruit driven cocktails and a small selection of natural wines alongside our inventive food menu.

In a lively space decked with palm fronds and tropical wallpaper, dig into Caribbean-inspired dishes like Guyanese-style roti and West Indian curry that earned Bristol-Joseph his first James Beard nod.

    On Monday, May 26th, Canje will host our dearest friends at our THIRD annual Block Party! Enjoy our cookout with our friends from Five o Four, Good Hot Fish, and Mezquite. The island vibes will be immaculate with music by Jamie Dredd and the All the Vibes crew. This price includes (1) food OR drink ticket. More food & drink tickets available for purchase, as well as limited edition Canje merch. The party is from 4:00 - 9:00pm. Street parking available. Ride share encouraged.

    Excellent as always. Our Server Bridget, was awesome. Our group of four shared 9 dishes and they were all so good. I love this place for a special occasion or just a weeknight early dinner.

    I came to Canje to celebrate both mine and my boyfriend’s birthday, and it was truly unforgettable. From the moment we walked in, the service was absolutely amazing—warm, attentive, and made us feel so special. The food? Absolute perfection. Every dish was packed with flavor and beautifully presented. And the music was the cherry on top—always such a vibe and made the whole night feel like a celebration. Canje never misses. We’ll definitely be back!

    Me encantó; comida espectacular, muy sazonada y deliciosa; si no estás a acostumbrado a muchas especies escobe bien tus platillos, esta Fantástico. Para mí un poco fuerte el Volumen, aunque si es torerable !

    Canje SHOWED OUT! I had the pleasure of dining with them for my birthday dinner and it was nothing less than superb! The food was amazing, the staff was friendly and super kind! They gave me a hand made and signed card (that I forgot 😭). Overall the experience was a 10/10! I will be back!

    Canje was a great visit. I booked last minute for a birthday dinner and they were very accomodating. They put us in a corner for some privacy and even put together a nice little birthday card. The food was great and will definitely be back for it. The staff was really great. Overall it was a great time though it did take quite a while between starters and main course to arrive extending the overall stay by about half an hour. All in all worth it and would still go back!

    Every employee with whom I interacted was kind, attentive, and thoughtful. Food was top-notch, and drinks were refreshingly punchy.
