More in line with mediocre diner food than fine dining.
Loved it, food was great and definitely go again
we were upset that you did not tell us it was a Prix Fix menu on Valentine's Day. You did call to confirm but did not mention it.
The Silver Trumpet is lovely and I generally enjoy the food very much. The fixed price dinner though was just okay. Selection left something to be desired and the price was a little much for what we had. Recommendation to self: check menu before hand on holidays if coming in future.
Great lunch menu with nice variety and very reasonable. All of our dishes and appetizers were delicious. Service was great our table with a nice view of patio and lake made for a nice afternoon lunch. The restaurant is very upscale contemporary and very comfortable to be in.
Easy access following concert performances
at the Segerstrom. Promptly seated by friendly staff. Enjoyed the stuffed date appetizer. Both myself and husband had a seafood entre: generous portions. Shared berry crumble dessert which was plenty for sharing. Extensive wine list included bottles from Spain which we enjoy.
Very delicious food, time accordingly with exquisite service!
Very pleasantly surprised! The food and service were wonderful! I ordered the salmon, which I usually hesitate to do at all but the finest restaurants as it is usually overcooked and dry. I ordered it medium rare as I always do and it was absolute perfection! I wouldn’t hesitate to eat here again. My only complaint would be that the lighting was a bit bright for dinner.
The food and the service were mediocre. I would not go back, nor would I recommend this restaurant to anyone.
A great place before going to the theater. Prix fixe menu a good deal.
Excellent for pre-theater dinner. Close to Segerstrom, attractive venue. We'd go back.
I have dined at the Silver Trumpet many times prior to seeing a show at Segerstrom Hall. Unfortunately, last night we arrived for our 6:15 p.m. reservation. We were seated immediately. It took a while for us to get our drinks. The unfortunate part is that we never received our meals. By 7:40 pm, we said we had to go as our show started at 8 p.m. My husband stayed behind to pay the bill while my friend and I headed over to the theatre. The restaurant comped our drinks and my husband's salad to try to soften the experience. The people in the table next to us didn't receive their food either. I realize that there are times when a restaurant receives more guests than expected, so I will probably come here the next time we see a show. I will just ask to be served promptly instead of thinking that 1 1/2 hours enough time to be served. Their food is delicious and our waiter was very nice. Just a sad experience.
This restaurant provides free parking if you are having dinner there and then going to the Segerstrom Center. That’s the only reason to go. The service was good and the restaurant looks good but the food was bad . I am not that picky but this was just.... bad. I was actually surprised about this. I would not return even for the free parking.
The restaurant was lovely, and the food was excellent. The pricing is on the high side, but the fixed price 3 course menu was a good value. Atmosphere on Saturday night was quiet, which is what I was looking for, and service was excellent. No problem getting to 8:00PM show at South Coast Rep following a 6:00PM reservation.
The beef short rib is to die for. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff is very friendly.
Super cool atmosphere. Great people watching spot. Our server was outstanding. Always there right when we needed her. The two of us shared three appetizers, the ahi poke which was scrumptious and a generous serving. The stuffed mushrooms were hot and flavorful and the charcuterie board had a nice selection of cheeses (it just could have been a little more). Anyway, we enjoyed it and decided to bring our spouses back for a nice dinner. Thank you.
Very dated, the service was very slow and inattentive. Food was like a bad wedding dinner.
Cocktails were the saving grace. But the food was bad to horrible. Lobster bisque was so fishy tasting I couldn't eat it. (Lobster shouldn't ever taste fishy.) The scallops were OK but nothing compared to other restaurants we frequent like Marche Moderne, Juliet's Kitchen or VaCa. And the restaurant was as expensive as any of those. Definitely not worth it. The salads are good so it would be OK for lunch but we're definitely not going there for dinner again.
Was given scrambled eggs instead of the egg whites I ordered and they were cold. My guest’s food had arrived so I chose not to send it back and wait. Still, they were tasty.
Seated at a small two-fer with a big party of 8 right next to it, while plenty of empty tables were available without the proximity of other diners. They gladly diverted me to a more private table and then seated a single diner right next to us when again, plenty of other tables available to space us out.
Despite parking validation, parking was $5.
I have been before and will go again. Food is good, it’s got a nice feel, and the staff is friendly.
It was good but not great. The food was good and the server was excellent, but to many missed details for this price point. Lots of competition for high end and they weren’t superb.
This was a wonderful place to eat. Service was excellent.
Great experience !! Yummy food and good service. We loved the free parking and close proximity to the Sergerstrom theatre
The food is always good here but the service was so slow..we almost left. We kept having to ask for our server over and over again..pretty frustrating. Not to mention she seemed annoyed that we called on her at all. Normally everyone here is so nice..but this time around it was pretty bad
Out of town guests
The food was not worth the price. I’m assuming it was due to the fixed menu for Christmas. I expected higher quality. The staff was professional and friendly.
Nice ambiance. Server was very good. The food was prepared well but was brought to us ice cold. Nothing was hot. We didn’t send it back because we didn’t want to wait and have it heated in the microwave. They need to figure out how to serve food piping hot like all good restaurants.
The food was very underwhelming - bland and very small portions. We did not feel we got value and that it was overpriced.
We make the Silver Trumpet our before theatre dining throughout the year. Great service however our starter soup was completely COLD and it put our meal much later getting to the ballet.
Filet mignon was tender and cooked as requested. Chopped salad was tasty and generous in size.
Silver Trumpet was the perfect place for my old college group to have lunch. We loved the round table,
service was great, and all meals were delicious. We will return!
The server was very friendly and helpful but we had long waits between courses and had to ask for the bill and took the dessert to go so we could get to the theatre on time.
We really enjoyed our ribeye dinner with the two sauces (bearnaise we'd order the risotto again, but not the charcuterie. We finished with the chocolate tiramisu which we did not finish and coffee which arrived 10 minutes after the dessert did. I was about to cancel the coffee when it arrived. Service was meh. Considering the restaurant was slow, service was disappointing and not attentive. Restaurant is a great location for pre- or post-show dinner; food is a nice, walkable alternative to Mastro's (our usu go-to), but the service left a lot to be desired. If you can overlook a hit-or-miss service, then definitely go. Just skip the charcuterie board & tiramisu...and get the steak!
We had a dreadful experience at Silver Trumpet. We had an OpenTable discount on points worth $60 that is offered by Silver Trumpet after 8 pm. But neither our server nor her manager knew how to process the credit card that was sent to us by OpenTable. Other restaurants had no problem. In addition, the food was greatly overpriced and we do not understand why the chef put so much seasoning on the rack of lamb or the Chilean sea bass--it ruined the flavor, and it was painful to pay a heavily inflated price without the OpenTable discount. This was our second and last visit to Silver Trumpet.
We both had the Chilean sea bass. The fish was fine, but we weren't crazy about it being paired with tomatoes & olives. The quinoa side was just ok. Salad was nothing special.
We’ve dined with you several times. Recently brunch inside. A few weeks ago brunch on the patio loved it And we’ve met friends in the bar for happy hour. Love it. Have recommended it to several friends and business associates to take their clients. Always awesome service from the moment we enter and the food is always beyond expectations. We love your restaurant
Recommend with reservations. Good food and friendly service, lovely ambiance. Have dined here many times, but there is usually a hitch of some sort. This time our waiter raved about a red blend, couldn't tell us what was in the blend, and neglected to say it was $26/glass. Our PSO discount is 20% (in writing), but same waiter returned and said it was only 10%. It's frustrating.
Wait staff was very professional and well attired. Service was excellent without being intrusive to our conversations.
The proteins and vegetables were perfectly cooked however the bread, soup and purées were not good. The soup was too salty, the purées were gummy and cold and the bread was too dense and salty.
Service and ambiance were very good.
It is overpriced.
