22oz Cowboy Ribeye
We were unable to eat there as it was shutdown by the virus.
Excellent food as always. Wanted Gary to be our waiter, but he a large party to tend to so he couldn’t be our waiter tonight. My steak and sides were perfect as well as the French onion soup and bread. It sucks the place isn’t as busy as it used to be. I always say that in my Shula’s reviews, but it’s true.
The only set back was our server Paul was very inattentive and not personable at all. Ali made up for it and took pretty good of us. Gary did come over to say hi so that was nice of him.
I will always enjoy coming to this place despite the bad reviews lately and the empty dining room. I hated to see they got rid of the birthday promo but it won’t deter me from coming back.
Steak was great. I’ve had better service which is expected since Shula’s has the nerve to charge so much for a steak, I’ll gladly pay but your mouth better smell tolerable, don’t drop silverware and menus around me, I’d like to not have to ask for a refill on my iced tea, I prefer to go to Bern’s, pay the price and have stellar service than to have a server who doesn’t know how to say “you’re welcome”. Tragic but true. Many times I thanked the server however he turned around and walked away. Simply no manners. This I blame on management, I’d make sure my clients are all being thanked for coming in. Even when we left I said “thank you for everything sir, I appreciate you”. The server said “thanks” and went back to the computer screen.
I work in customer service, I’m persnickety with manners, if you’re charging the price, I demand good manners like I show your staff.
I’ll give Shula’s 10 stars for the steak, service
Service was very slow tonight. Otherwise food was good . Was not our first visit and won’t be our last, just an off night service wise
The appetizers and sides and steaks were spectacular. However the crème brulee was cold and bland. It took them a while to bring it to the table after I ordered it, and I half suspect they ran over to Publix to get it.
This was by far the worst meal I have had at a steakhouse. I have been to many steakhouses entertaining clients and made the suggestion to very close fiends to come to this place. The food was cold to the point I felt it was not safe and even having sent it back, the second steak came back cold again. Our waiter didn’t have a clue what to do and even when I complained to the manager, he was indifferent. I will never go to this restaurant again and recommend others do not spend money on this very expensive restaurant. We should have gone to Applebee’s as this would surely have been a better experience.
Both the Kansas City ribeye and the porterhouse were flavorful and cooked to a spot-on temp. Shula’s steaks are as tasty as you’re likely to find anywhere, unless you’re looking for major dry-aged funk. These are either wet aged or insufficiently dry-aged to produce that blue cheesey flavor. Sides of creamed spinach and steak fries were both good, though short of outstanding. Service was attentive. Prices are very much at the high end of Tampa steakhouses. Bern’s provides much better value. Wine list is inadequate for a high end steakhouse. Shula’s had a great prime rib on the menu several years back. Would love for them to bring it back.
Food was not up to standard on this visit. We will try again...
Took 40min to get appetizers and 70 for main course. They claim to be busy but there several empty tables . Steak was Ok. But the chicken was dry and tasteless
waiter was somewhat preoccupied. Towards the end of our meal it took a long time to receive the bill.
The food was excellent! The steak was perfectly seasoned, not too salty. A little on the rare side for my taste, but was delicious. The baked potato was cooked to perfection and the creme brulee dessert was absolutely devine. The atmosphere was perfect for our anniversary dinner. Wasn't too noisy, and the staff and manager were very polite. The cocktails were wonderful and the wine was also wonderful. Thank you for having us, and we will definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone?
I love the steaks at Shulas and Sean is the best bartender ever. We always enjoy going there.
Quite expensive. Food prepared with too much garlic. Not a good value. Now I understand why it was easy to reserve a table.
Shula’s is always a great experience. And Gary is the best.
The steak was very good. I had it cooked medium rare. it had good seasoning. The bearnaise sauce was just ok that came with the steak. The sides were just ok. I got the mushrooms and the twice baked potato.
the chocolate lava cake was very delicious for dessert.
For a so called famous steak house. Not so much. I have had better food at Outback.
I will not be back.
If you're a Dolphins Fan or perhaps a football fan in general, Shula's is worth a stop. Lombardi Trophies, Undefeated Season Footballs and Pictures were awesome to see.
Shula's misses the mark in that it portrays itself as a High End Steakhouse on par with Charley's and Bern's but does not play in that field. Ultimately I would consider it an upscale Steakhouse likely in the Fleming's\Capital Grill grouping.
Food was mostly good but value was not commensurate with the price. Things like the red wine demi lacked flavor and the twice baked potato fell flat. Steaks were good not great.
Overall a moderate steakhouse that would be interesting to Football fans.
Best Steaks, Sides, Desserts. For the price Shulas gives you a better quality of food. We celebrated a Birthday and Anniversary again in February. We both had the 24 Oz Porterhouse, salad, two sides, drinks and dessert for under $200.00, including tip. The sides are big enough for two (2). so don't over-order.
We went on a weekday and had a nice quiet dinner. The restaurant more busy on Friday & Saturdays. The place id "PERFECT"
Everything was great. Food. Service. The place was EMPTY however. That didn’t bother me since the food and service were so good.
I’ll start by saying that they were accommodating and let us seat earlier. The manager was a nice young man and our server was kind as well. However, it took over an hour for our steaks to arrive and we didn’t even order an appetizer. Our poor server was mystified. He said, “Let me check on your food.” He cake bad saying it’d be a few minutes longer. Well it ended up being at least another 30 minutes. My date ordered his medium well and it came out rare. I ordered mine medium
And it was rare and cold. His baked potato was cold. We sent the meat back to cook longer and mine came back the same. I didn’t even bother to say anything. To top it off the steaks were so bland. My filet was tender enough but his strip was so dry. He couldn’t even finish it. They offered free drinks and desserts but we don’t drink and didn’t want dessert. We wanted a good cut of meat. We are paying a lot of money. They took off some money but you’re still paying a lot for the worst steaks I’ve ever tasted. And to top it off the peppercorn sauce tasted like it was a packet of brown gravy. A steak I could get at a quarter of the price at a typical steakhouse would’ve far exceeded what we got.
We arrived at the time of our reservation and there was no one at the host stand to greet us. Several servers looked in our direction and no one acknowledged our presence. Another couple arrived behind us, and the gentleman was brave enough to walk into the restaurant portion to get someone’s attention.
Shula’s dining area is literally placed in half of an area that was likely used for serving hotel breakfast at one time. Loud wooden floors. Half-assed room-dividers. Water spots on silverware.
The menu was printed on a piece of heavy printer paper. There were no special/signature plates prepared by the kitchen (we dined on Saturday of Valentines weekend). I will credit the French Onion Soup as being the best thing I had all evening. The ribeye tasted like it was purchased from Walmart. I’ve been eating in prime steakhouses for more than a decade, and this was hands down the worst possible experience I’ve ever had.
I wouldn’t recommend this establishment to anyone. Especially with much better options in close proximity around Tampa.
We went to Shula’s with some friends for my husband’s 40th birthday. It was definitely a splurge and we had high hopes. Reservation was at 6:30, but we got there and we were seated by about 6:15. We weren’t done until 9:30. Service was so slow! To be fair, our server was an older gentleman and had 8 tables, which is unacceptable for an establishment like this. Even with an assistant, there’s no way to give each table the attention it deserves. Drinks sat empty for far too long and the time between each course felt like hours. Once our food finally came out, mine and my husband’s steaks were grossly overcooked. My filet was supposed to be medium, but came out well-done and very dry. The only saving grace was the blue cheese topping. My husband also had a filet, which was supposed to be medium well and was past the point of well-done. We’ve both worked in restaurants and know not to send the food back, so we ate them because we were starving. One friend enjoyed their steak, cooked a perfect medium rare, and the other enjoyed the French cut chicken. Gratin potatoes were flavorless. We did get a free piece of chocolate cake to celebrate the birthday, but it wasn’t enough to redeem the food or service. We won’t be going back to Shula’s or recommending it to anyone we know. Very disappointing!
We went for Valentine’s Day, 2020. First experience at Shulas, and the last as well. We started at the bar and the bartender was horrible. She asked “how are you?” I said “we’re great; how are you?” And her response was “you don’t want to know.” After ordering drinks, we told her we were waiting for our seat to open, and we wanted an appetizer. We asked if there was a chance we could get an app out within 45 minutes, when our seat would become available. “Your guess is as good as mine,” she said. Yikes. We ordered a Caesar salad, figuring it could be made in 45 minutes. Well, it was not, and we went to our seats.
Before going to our seats, I went to check in to let the restaurant staff know we had arrived. I waited at the entryway for 5 minutes, with staff passing by me, ignoring me, until a manager came. When he came, I remarked “there appears to be many empty tables; it looks as though we could have had an earlier check in” and he said “we just had several tables leave, and we leave tables available for walkins, which you can’t get through any app.” Well, there were 5 dirty tables, but there were likely 10 clean tables as well. I’m not sure about his statement.
There is NO ambiance. When we were seated, the waiter was nice, and did a good job. The menu was a set menu, which included Caesar salad. Why did the bartender not advise us? I asked a manager to take the charge off of the bar bill, and he did it, since we had not received the Caesar salad yet, anyhow.
The soup and salad were good, but it took quite some time for the food to be Delivered. The waiter was apologetic. When we finally received our ribeyes, my wife’s was more medium rare (ordered medium) and both were fatty with tough fat (as opposed to the good fat that adds flavor and melts away when cooked).
For $350 all told, it was the most disappointing meal I’ve had in years. The ribeye at Longhorn was much, much better than the one we ate at Shulas. Such a disappointment.
The food was very good, but with so many other good steak restaurants in the area, definitely not worth the price for the poor service and atmosphere. Eddie Vs, Berns, Charlie’s all MUCH better choices!
Well we sat down and waited for our waiter for half an hour then it took them another hour for us to get the meal and the steak was burned and hard
Valentine's Day dinner. Our reservations were at 7:30 and we left the restaurant at 10:30, and had to ask the servers to box our desserts before they got to the table. Three hours is way too long for dinner. Everything took a very long time. Typically we expected slight delay due to Valentine's Day, but there were very many empty tables and it did not appear to be super busy. My wife ordered lamb chops and they were very overcooked and dry. She sent them back and the next ones came out the same way. I ordered the ribeye and it did not have a lot of flavor. The lobster bisque and the salads were both amazing though. I was offered bread with my soup and it was not delivered to my table until literally 30 minutes after I finished my soup. Not sure if they were understaffed. There seemed to be sufficient help. I have not been to Shula's in several years but I definitely remember it being a much better experience than this.
Everything was perfect for a romantic valentine day
Other steakhouses in the area at same price point are better. Steak was ok, baked potato was still hard, crab mac and cheese was good. When you spend $100 a per person it's little things like packaging take home boxes for the customer that help add value to customer experience.
Great steak, the Lobster Bisques was fantastic, the Manhattan suburb, the beard was very good with nice soft butter. I’ll eat there again, but I’ll have to save up.
Great steaks and service and destination for annual birthday dinner. Unfortunately the free birthday entree promotion for Shula Club members will be ending in a few months. You can bring your own special wine bottles for a reasonable corkage fee. This is one of Tampa's great steakhouses and should not be missed!
The steaks we ordered were fantastic! The salad and bread were great too! Our server Gary was very funny and personable. Gary is our favorite server at Shula's for sure! Overall, it was a great birthday celebration for me with my wife. Thank you Shula's!!!
My girlfriend and I both ordered the ribeye. Hers was outstanding. Mine looked like a totally different cut of meat from a low end grocery store. Very disappointing!
The waiter was awful from start to finish. We waited for 10 minutes at the host stand waiting for someone to acknowledge us. We explained it was a special occasion and it was not treated that way at all. We had to continually ask for refills on water. They forgot our sides. I was never asked if I wanted some more wine. The waiter spilled olive oil over my husband and barely grumbled an “I’m sorry”. We waited a very long time for everything. The food portions were small for the price and the plating didn’t even look appetizing. I’ve been to Shula’s all over the country and I’m sad to say that the one in my hometown is the worst. I would have complained but I was afraid it would have taken even longer to get out of the restaurant! The only time our waiter smiled was when he handed us the check. Everything else seemed like an inconvenience to him. Very disappointed as it was a special night for my 17yo daughter and we dropped 300$ plus for the 3 of us on a major disappointment. Many better steakhouses in Tampa to include Eddie V’s, Council Oak and even right up the road at Charley’s. On a positive note the Burrata salad was amazing. My lamb was good but the portion size was ridiculous for the price!
Excellent food and service. Gary is an exceptional waiter. Dining room was very quiet at first, but picked up a little as our meal went on. Steak was excellent French onion soup was amazing. This place might not be as popular as it once was, but Shula’s is still a very nice place to enjoy a great meal. We will be back!
was not impressed with price per portions
More concerned with setting up (noisey) for table of 12-14
Apps didn’t come together
Drinks served after 1st app arrived
Been to other Shula’s and by far this was very disappointing
Outstanding flavor, amazing service and all in a quiet ambience. Great restaurant overall!
We were really excited about our dinner on NYE only to find a limited menu for the evening. They were already out of the cowboy ribeye at 7 pm which limited our choices more. The water glass had a chip in it which cut my lip ( they did comp our drinks), but after that our dinner went down hill. After they brought my wife’s salad our waiter says oh I didn’t bring you any bread would you like some bread?? Our waiter went and brought some bread then disappeared never offered my wife any fresh pepper for her salad as he happily grind pepper for the table next to us. The steak they brought was bland with no flavor what so ever, not what I expect for a $60 steak! The crab cakes were good, our bill came to 120$$ for an at best mediocre meal. Poor service and disappointing evening! Can’t recommend this establishment!
Excellent service & delicious food! We wanted to have dessert but we were just too full. Brussel sprout side dish was out table’s favorite!
Second year in a row that we have celebrated New Year's Eve at Shula's. Last year we were in Gainesville.
It was New Years Eve and our anniversary. We felt that we were being rushed to eat so they could get someone else in our space. We didn’t enjoy that at all.
