Celebrated our 44 anniversary. Have been coming to Shearn's since they opened . Have had several Special Birthdays and Date nights there. As my wife and I are both BOI's now living in Dickinson. Best on the Island. Thanks. Don't change a thing. BobW
I had the seared Scallops, she had the Red Snapper with Crabmeat. Both were excellent!
As usual great food and a great atmosphere.
Great place to celebrate our anniversary. Excellent atmosphere, service and food.
Good food and service
An excellent choice for special occasions. There is a reasonable dress code and the environment is upscale but not over the top. The atmosphere is quiet allowing conversation with out competing with loud music of other distractions. The staff is very professional with well paced service. The view is good from any table but we requested a table by the windows. Beautiful view of the West end of the island and the beach and sunset is spectacular. Now the food - good selection so it's hard to choose. I had a filet special - best steak ever! My wife had the Chilean sea bass special topped with a generous portion of crab meat. Superb! We found a nice selection of wines with reasonable prices. Sorry - we didn't have room for desert but we did see several that looked inviting. We settled for coffee and were very pleased. The Moody Gardens Hotel is our go to place when we need to get away and relax. We enjoy the quiet rooms, a good bar in the lobby and an excellent breakfast menue in the restaruant in the lobby. Walking around the well maintained grounds and enjoying all the beautiful plants and flowers helps you to unwind. And finally - the price for dinner - very reasonable for the quality and atmosphere. On par with Perry's Steakhouse or maybe a little less: but, the atmosphere is exceptional. Can't wait for our next trip down to the island.
Wow! Not what I expected from a run down resort. This restaurant is AMAZING. We loved everything.
Great food. Great view. Nice atmosphere. Pleasant surprise. Highly recommended.
This is a great upscale restaurant in Galveston. My husband and I dined here to celebrate our anniversary. It was not very busy when we were there and we received impeccable service. The food was also amazing. I started with a wedge salad, which was a generous size. My husband had the lobster bisque, which was very tasty, but a little on the small side. We then ordered the seared scallops to share and a side of the mac and cheese with pancetta. Both were very tasty. We would return here again for a special occasion and would recommend to friends and family.
My wife and I again chose Shearns for celebrating our anniversary. The food is always tasty and the quality good. We chose the special this visit. Tenderloin and Tails. I selected the lobster thermidor to go with the tenderloin. Both were flavorful and the tenderloin was very tender.
As always, the wait staff was attentive to our needs.
We will be returning on our next visit to Galveston.
The cocktails & appetizer/salad were awesome; however, we were extremely disappointed in our steak. My husband and I split a filet & when it came out each of our portions were maybe 1/2 inch thick. I was expecting a filet like I normally get at a nice steakhouse...around a 2 inch thick cut of tender meat. Also, we ordered it medium rare & it came out well done. The service was good & our waiter did bring us a new steak cooked properly, but it was still just a thin, mediocre cut of meat. We also got the chocolate cake to go & it was fantastic! Overall, it was a nice dinner, and I will probably return, but not for steak.
The view is amazing from Shearns!! The service can be hit or miss but it was good this visit.
Went here to celebrate 3 special occasions with my entire family.. 35 year wedding anniversary, newly married couple, and my husband's graduation from UTMB. The service was absolutely horrible. We had called ahead to see if we could bring a special bottle of wine to share with the group and was told that would be okay. Upon arrival, the waiter denied our request and denied ever speaking to my husband even though he knew his name after their phone call. We would have NEVER brought the bottle had it not been allowed. Also, the server was SO RUDE to my husband! We talked to the manager who also was very unhelpful. It's very disappointing this restaurant have such horrid customer service. The food was excellent and the view is great, but I will never come back or recommend this restaurant to any of my friends/family due to the horrible service.
Food was ok, not great, for the price. Service was good. Great views.
The food was delightful. The wait staff was very attentive and professional. We would definitely eat there again if returning to Galveston!
We were here for surf and turf night and to celebrate a birthday! The food was delicious and service excellent!
Disappointed. We knew there was a wedding at the lounge but didn’t know the loudness of the songs and music played are way too loud for a nice elegant steak dinner setting. I’m sorry but I felt embarrassed that all of us had to raise our voice to speak at the table while dining. Even told the waiter if possible to keep the doors shutter but apparently there were 4 doors connected to the lounge where the wedding was. Unacceptable and sad that we won’t return to the restaurant again. Lesson learn!
Good food good service. Wedding party was noisy but polite.
Excellent as always. Michael was a very attentive and knowledgeable server.
The wait staff was terrific, as always.
Reunion with my sister was bolstered by the 1/2 off Wednesday Wine special...accompanied by exactly the 'right' selection of appetizers to make a full meal for light eaters.
Warm and receptive wait staff.
Took the wife here for our anniversary. After, a 5 minute wait at the bar, the hostess seated us right next to the window overlooking Galveston Island and Schlitterbahn. We ordered the Hatch crab cake to start. It was fantastic. The Hatch pepper flavor was hardly noticeable. Large lumps of crab. I highly recommended. My wife ordered the grilled shrimp and I ordered the bone in ribeye. Our entrees took about 30 minutes to come out but they were well worth the wait. The shrimp were huge and tender. My ribeye was cooked medium to perfection. Give the white mac and cheese a try, too. It was rich and creamy. Perfect size for 2 people. The portion size was more than enough and forced us to skip dessert this time. The service was top notch. The ambiance feels classy enough for tuxedo or ball gown, yet casual enough for dockers and a polo. Although you will spend a lot, your overall experience will justify the cost.
My husband and myself were there for our 25th wedding anniversary. We had a great time, good bottle of wine and wonderful food. This was the fifth time we have been, we love it. It is always our favorite go to place. Always worth the drive. We stay at the hotel for a great time.
Shearn's is one of our Galveston favorites. Always superb food and impeccable service. A bit pricey, but worth it once or twice a year!
The food was extraordinary and Damian was a very attentive server - an amazing dining experience.
Beautiful view, excellent food, great value and awesome service.
We really love this restaurant! Our waiter was too slow and not as attentive as we are used to at Shearns. Everything else was wonderful!
Shearn's is a favorite for delicious food! It has a beautiful view and is always quiet enough to enjoy conversation. The staff is excellent!
Wonderful views from the 9th floor. Appetizers and main entrees were delicious.
Went there for our anniversary, had a quiet table by the huge windows that looked out over the Island all the way to the Gulf.
From being greeted at the entrance to our final goodbye the entire staff was friendly and attentive without being hovering.
Cocktails were well made and brought without delay.
There were several food choices that were not run-of-the-mill; we selected a couple of those. Food was well prepared and season perfectly.
After our main course was finished, Damian D. our server, suggested that we go across the hall to the bar and have our dessert while watching the sunset over Offats Bayou. Lovely thought on his part.
We took his suggestion and finished up our dining with a marvelous cheesecake and a bit of sparkling wine while watching the sun go down.
We will be back.
Great staff!! If you are a semi regular they try to remember what your favorite beverages and your regular orders. We try to get here a least once every 6 weeks.
Seafood was delicious. Shrimp appetizer in marsala sauce wasa favorite. The snapper special was also outstanding. Service was attentive. The kitchen was a little slow due to a large party (it was a Saturday night), but the view was mesmerizing so we didn't mind a little extra wait. One improvement recommendation for management is to refine the coffee program. All servers should know how to make a espresso, latte, cappuccino at this type of establishment.
One of my all time favorite places to eat. Definitely going back
Shearn's is always fabulous! Lobster bisque, a Perfect Summer Cocktail, fabulous snapper, and profiteroles for dessert. Wonderful dinner, top-notch service.
Good food and a great view. Waiter was attentive, without being obtrusive.
The shrimp masala starter is really good.
The only disappointment was my wife had the surf and turf. The beef was perfect but the lobster was tough.
The lounge had a great sunset view and Piano entertainment. Ended up staying the whole night! The service and food were awesome as well.
Service and food were exceptional.
Average experience at a high price.
We have eaten at Shearn"s many times over they years-- enjoying the food and ambience especially for special occasions such as this was our 47 th wedding anniversary. The service after being seated was a little slow but the pace improved. Dessert soufflés are excellent!
Not sure why the question is asked "is this a special occasion" when nothing special happens. Nevertheless it was a excellent dinner.
We have been to Shearns before........certainly the best restaurant in the Galveston area. Food is always wonderful.....special was filet mignon with lobster thermidor .....WOW...this restaurant serves the best meat (not Texas beef) and service was impeccable. Their monthly specials as well as wine nights combined with the best views in town.....Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
