Sarento's on the Beach
Need to book at 10:30 AM?Other great restaurants with availability.
Sarento's seems to believe that quantity is more important than quality. The portions are large and while the home made pasta was good, it was woefully lacking in seasoning. The pesto was minimal and garlic was absent. The risotto was well prepared, but again, lacking in seasoning. If you're going to ask guests to drop some serious money on dinner, you had better deliver. Sarento's didn't.
Fantastic food and great service until we were finishing our meal. Never should pick up any dinner plates until all meals are completed and a few minutes have passed. Common manners and mark of a true 5 star restaurant.
Very pleasant evening for ourselves and guests
We were thrilled to be seated at the rail! However, there were two large parties in the same area that were extremely loud! After about 45 minutes, the managers came over and asked us if we would like to move outside. Thankfully we were able to eat our dinner in peace! High praise for the manager taking action in a very unpleasant situation!
It was very noisy
The is a special occasion restaurant. Five star service. Complementary focaccia was amazing!!! I would come back over and over just for bread and view!!
I wouldn’t go for lunch again, only because I mistakenly looked at the dinner menu and their lunch is minimal choices. The menu says serving brunch from 11-2. Our waiter forgot we asked about a Bloody Mary he was going to have us try first to see if it was too spicy; and he just never brought the taster. They all seemed super rushed even though the restaurant was not at all full. But dinner here would be a gorgeous setting, being its on the beach! Beautiful views and open air spot.
Service was mediocre at best. Food was just ok -- nothing special. Not the old Sarento's by any means!! Won't be back!
Great view for sunset...however, the food is mediocre and expensive. In addition it was extremely noisy.
We recently dined at Sarentos, and were very pleased with the food, service and loved being right next to the ocean! They could update their cocktails a bit, but the pesto chicken and fish special were both tasty!
Most underrated restaurant in Wailea. Get there early to catch the sunset, Sarento's is romantic, has authentic northern Italian food, and great service.
Took way to long to get our food. The staff were run off their feet, we felt bad for them. But for $50 entree’s I expect more.
We've been coming to Sarento's since they first opened. Never again. The prices are as high as any you will find on Maui and the food is terrible. Denny's does it better. There is no qualified chef working in their kitchen. Poor quality ingredients--everything is soaked and saturated with some low-quality oil infused with artificial butter flavor, just like for microwave popcorn, to disguise the true flavor of the food. I could only eat a few bites of my $48 entree, probably should have sent it back. My husband scraped the the soggy oil-saturated coating off of his veal and managed to eat about half. Enjoy the view for free, then go eat somewhere else.
The carbonara was basically inedible. Took two bites and took the rest home, where I was able to fix it. That said, the pasta itself was great.
Excellent meal, drinks and service! Just wish there was a photographer there for sunset like last time we were there, that would have been a bonus.
Disappointing service and inundated with smoke from NYE fireworks on beach.
New year’s eve
But pricey but very good. We try to eat there each year we come
When I made the reservation I was not made aware of the prefix menu /price of menu.
Server was great so it’s not his fault, but other tables that came in after us got their food before us. Food was mediocre at best and the cherry cobbler tasted like it was right out of a can with crumbled cookies on top. Will we be coming back? Probably not.
A wonderful restaurant with delicious food and outstanding service. It is quiet and tucked away but right on the beach so you can hear the waves crashing all through your dinner. From the hostess to our great waiter you felt welcomed and taken care of. The entire family enjoyed the well prepared fish and steak dishes. Well worth every penny we paid. Highly recommend!
We liked the wait people and how they assisted each other so much we ate here twice. Of course the view at sunset was amazing. Accepted wonderful wait person Monica's suggestions. My husband kept saying how well managed the restaurant was. Did not like how the restaurant laptoo steers you toward incredibly expensive wines.
We have eaten at Sarentos several times in the past, including for Christmas dinner but were extremely disappointed with our dining experience this time. Due to the weather we waited 25 minutes for our reserved table, and were only offered to purchase our own drinks in the bar for our inconvenience. The room was brightly lit, extremely loud and there were no table linens or other ambiance befitting a $75 per person dinner. Our waiter was young and inexperienced, but clearly trying to do his best. The food was bland, over-cooked and the prime rib appeared to have been reheated. This was not worth $300 US for our family of 4. We were looking for a special Christmas experience and were completely disappointed and will not return.
We have been going to Maui for 15 years Sarento’s is a place we eat every year , it’s a hit or miss! This was the biggest Miss and after waiting for over 30 min just for our Order to be taken and salads still not come out for an hour, we had apologies by the waiter and the manager and still no salads , needless to say we got up and walked out , it’s so disappointing that the restaurant has gone down hill 100% , no decor, no service and over priced We will never go back after all these years of going.
Christmas dinner with family.
Food and service were horrible - meal was barely adequate, waiter disinterested and all was slow. The view is great but interior decor leaves much to be desired. This setting has potential for greatness but even this magical view won’t be enough to make me want to return- major improvement needed in all areas.
Beautiful view - we were outside at sunset and the food and service were excellent also
I’ve been here several times and I’ve never disappointed.
You can’t beat the view from this on-ocean location. Our fresh fish meals were outstanding and the service was perfectly timed.
We couldnt eat the food. Too expensive for what you get and would not recommend it to anybody. Ordered the chicken with pasta and it first took almost an hour and second the plate was full of sauce und butter and the pasta swam in it.
Our server Randall was the best part of dinner, and of course food was delicious.
My husband and I booked Sorento’s for our last night (December 9) in Maui. We had an ok experience last time. This time was a complete flop. The pina coladas and bread were perfect. We ordered the calamari, prawn & fish appetizer. I LOVE calamari but could only eat one bite. Everything was dry, cold and tasted old. Absolutely not fresh. Our dinner (shrimp, scallops and mushroom risotto) was cold and as bad as the appetizer. The waiter, Robert was wonderful. Very friendly and attentive. We just wanted to leave and it wasn’t his fault. Unfortunately, I left a message for the manager to talk about our negative experience in leu of writhing a negative review and never received a call back.
Will not return..... waste of $100.
Very disappointed with the menu. Apparently a new chef changed it significantly. Very little pasta on the rather limited menu.
Wow what a disaster! buyer beware, this place was real garbage 5 of us attempted to have dinner but could not eat our meals, crappy appetizer as well. Please don't even think we are just giving you bad advise we paid the 450.00 check so we would have a reminder to never return. Jußt really BAD!
This place was just not good. Ate at a variety of restaurants while we were in Maui and all were better than this! There is no ambience once the sun goes down. The waiter was ok, not attentive at all even though the place was not full. The pasta was lukewarm and combined with the ahi you could barely taste it. My mother-in-law asked for a vegetarian pasta meal with just tomato sauce and they threw in roasted veggies including loads of Brussel sprouts. The appetizers were not great and out of the 10 of us nobody liked their entrees. This place did not deserve any stars. Go to monkey pod or duo’s or anywhere else!
Great ambience, food was good, service poor. Water glasses not filled, food took too long, and although the people were kind, they were not very attentive.
Breakfast was great. Food and service. I will say unless you sit on the edge of the restaurant near the water the atmosphere is not so much.
I cannot recommend Sarento's and won't be going there again. Have given it multiple chances, hoping it would improve because the view is so sweet. Its sister restaurants are pretty good, so it must be a localized problem, i.e., poor management. They have a fantastic location with that incredible view - and I think they just use that to coast. The food is mediocre at best. This last and final visit included a tasteless quiche, very strange tofu scramble and a beyond burger that did not taste similar to any other beyond burgers we've had. Throw in a nice waitress who then disappeared never to be seen again....well, the only good part was another waiter/busboy who stepped in and also offered kamaaina discount. Keep him.
Totally overrated. Expensive for mediocre food. The fish was overcooked and not interesting and the cocktails were over sweet (learn to make a mai tai!). The wine was good. So many waitstaff!! Love the location but would not go back.
Can’t beat the view. Right on the beach at sunset was beautiful. Food delicious. Yummy pina colada’s.
