Positive:
A very nice setting right on the beach
Nice atmosphere
Very good food

Negatives
The service was really slow (took almost 2 hours with half empty dining room)
The staff lacks enthusiasm, they have a teamwork model (no personal server per table), which really doesn’t work well for them
An on site photographer was trying to sell his service (take your picture) which was very annoying

Overall
Doesn’t match up to a service level that it’s supposed to be given the price range. Wouldn’t go back

The ahi is the freshest here on Maui so that’s a good choice. The hamachi crudo was ok. The service was slow. A table of 5 next to my table of 2 didn’t get served their dinner until we were ready to checkout. Both tables had appetizers. The Mai-Tai was awful and the bourbon and ginger was light on the bourbon.

Sarento’s is hanging in there due to on the beach location.
The service was good but not great. The food was pricey but not nearly as pricey as the wine.
Too many other top notch places to recommend to anyone unfortunately.

We had a great time. The food was great although I would have preferred more sear on my Ahi. The grilled seafood entree was a big hit. Service was excellent, especially the busboy's who were outstanding. One of the very best waterfront restaurant views on Maui.

We were seated by kitchen and asked to please move to another table. 6 were available but they said they were reserved. Only 3 were used the entire time we were there. Very disappointing as my reservation was made 12 hours prior. Service was slow. Took 45 minutes to get and pay bill. Not happy. Food good though.

Beautiful setting right on the beach. Good food although the least expensive glass of wine was $16. Our party of six should have gotten a drink in the bar at happy hour and then moved to our table or ordered a bottle of wine.
Great service and good food.

My husband and I really enjoyed Sarento's on the Beach while visiting Maui. We came here for Sunday brunch, the restaurant faces the beach so it was awesome to sit and appreciate the beautiful scenery. The cocktails and food were very good! For sure one of the best meals we had during our visit!

We went for a special birthday, 4 of us. We had made reservations for a window table 30 days earlier. We were greeted with attitude. The hostess and the first server were arrogant and extremely snobby. They attempted to seat us away from the window despite the fact that the place was nearly empty. Thank goodness the second waiter was very nice. The food was quite good and the view is stunning. I’ve been going to this place for years, but clearly the management team has changed. I will never go back because the view and food are not worth the “we are so much better than you” attitude.

Very disappointed. Won't go back unless major changes are made. I didn't appreciate that a couple that had NO reservation walked in 30 seconds before us, we were seated first but they got front row Ocean front table. It took me having to complain twice to be offered a better table. People were dressed like they walked off the beach...what happened to your standards? Food was delicious & wine was amazing!! Service sucked. Waiter disappeared then I had some new guy show up babysitting my check... like I was going to skip out on my $300 bottle of wine. LOL I was wearing a $3000 dress I think I can pay for a $300 bottle of wine. Then we had a family next to us smoking a vape pen at their table. What's more sad is there was a 7 month old toddler next to them. Management needs to get it together or maybe your lower standards are the new Sarrentos... for yrs I've come here & referred people here, but never again. Sorry we will NEVER come back!!!!!!

The food was good but the staff had no aloha, no smiles, actually most had the “your not welcome” attitude. From the hostess greeter to the manager and waiter, they all seemed to have bad attitudes or maybe they thought they were too good for their customers. Either way, good food is not the only reason to return to a restaurant and first impressions are everything!

From the time we enjoyed Happy Hour at the bar, being seated for dinner and the remainder of the evening the staff goes above and beyond to make sure you are taken care of in every aspect. With a dining room set only feet from where the waves meet the sand, Sorrento’s is a lovely spot for a special vacation dinner. Our various fish dishes were savory and cooked perfectly. The cocktail menu was interesting and our sampling was delicious. Highly recommended.

This is an outstanding restaurant on a beautiful beach. The menu has both Italian and Hawaii dishes. The wine list is very good and priced fairly. For those who say the service is over-the-top, I say it’s what we should expect at a fine Restaurant. Frankly, it reminds me of Michel’s in Honolulu without the pretense or expense.

Sorrento’s is in a beautiful location with a fabulous view of the beach. In the past the dinners and breakfasts were nothing short of amazing. However, on this particular day the food served was very average, in fact the potatoes were burned. In addition, they were out of some of the ingredients for items on the menu. Simple things like bananas. I will still go to Sorrento’s but have lowered my dining
expectations. You can’t beat the location.

Overall, I was incredibly disappointed. It is a great setting for a nice dinner with a great beach and ocean view. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated and immediately asked if we’d like a drink. I requested the wine list which they presented on an iPad. They wanted both the wine order and their iPad back before we even saw the menu. Customarily, I’d like to see the menu before dropping over $100 on a bottle of wine. I also had to put up a stink to retain the iPad in order to order future wines by the glass.

They used a tag team method of wait staff and we had three servers; two of which lacked the training for the job and could not describe the specials nor how items were prepared.

The Frito Misto arrived as an appetizer and it was inedible. A fried blob of battered seafood with a glob of marinara that was so heavily salted that it burned your tongue to eat it.

I ordered the seafood mixed grill for $42 based on the waiter’s recommendation and my companions both ordered the fresh catch; mahi mahi. Again, our palates were universally bombarded with SALT. All of the protien in all three entrees was so over-salted you could not eat it. The only thing worth eating was the pasta in the fresh catch as even the risotto in the mixed grill was over-salted.

Would I give them another chance? Maybe. We just had hurricane Lane blow through and perhaps the regular chef was not on staff or they were stretching the protien due to lack of supply. But, there are lots of choices and limited time when you visit the island, I think I’d roll the dice and try somewhere else.

My fiancé and I found this beautiful catch of a restaurant during our romantic vacation to Maui. It was recommended to us by a close-knit of traveling friends who make Maui and annual family vacation. Their wine and cocktails are fabulous and I was incredibly pleased with the amazing fresh catch dish I had for dinner. I would recommend Sarento’s to anyone looking to go to Maui.
