Unfortunately a few of the menu items weren't available when we arrived for dinner (6:30 pm). The server was quick to let us know though and he was attentive throughout the meal. The food we ordered was fine. Nice evening, there were four of us.
Always, reliably, delightfully... fulfilling. For over 20 years we've been "travelling" to Santorini and while it might not offer everything the real island destination does, there is no doubt that that the food and spirit here in this little oasis in Calgary are authentic. We fill our tummies and our hearts, without the usual and empty pretension that plagues the new Calgary restaurant scene. Santorini gets the right thing, right: food.
The food at this restaurant was really good. The food tasted good and the ambiance in the restaurant was very good. Only issue was the price of the items was a bit much. They should either reduce the price or increase the quantity of the food provided. Overall I do recommend and will be back again.
We ate at Santorini for the first time on Valentines. The restaurant was very busy, and table turnover was not matching the timing of reservations very well, but the hostess did a fantastic job of keeping us engaged. We had the Taverna special (which was very popular judging by other tables around us). A set meal sampling many of the restaurants favourite dishes, timing of each course, and portion sizes were very good. Overall a very pleasant evening, we would certainly eat here again.
Great neighbourhood gem! Authentic cuisine and ambience. As must to visit.
As always a great evening. Food was outstanding and staff were friendly and attentive. Traverna special was very good, more than we could eat. We went home completely satisfied. Highly recommend.
We are so happy that we found this place when we were searching for greek restaraunts in Calgary. It did not disappoint. The food was incredible and the service was great! The prices reflect the quality of food so be prepared to pay a little more. But again it was so worth it and we cant wait to go back!
Good Greek menu; gluten free items are not marked. We sat in a corner which meant one person had to face a blank wall.
This has become our New Years Eve restaurant. The food is SO good and well prepared. The service is delightful and friendly. We wished that there was one more potato for each of us in the special meal as the portions are tasty but slightly small. Overall a great experience and we'll be back next year. Thank you!
My husband & I were the first to arrive on New Years Eve. No one else was dining. The first comment we found a little off was that we had the table until 6:30. It was 4:15 PM. Rather than a Happy New Year - this was the greeting from Maria. Service from Melanie was great. food was good but certainly not the best. Small portions. The hot seafood plate was not worth $25.00. The main course, the rice and veggie portion was extremely small in consideration of the low cost to prepare these and really nothing special. After we dined we went elsewhere to top up! There are seveal real good restaurants where you can dine, spend less and walk out feeling good about your experience. No we will not return.
As usual food and service were excellent! The atmosphere is amazing. The owners and staff are very friendly. We always enjoy this place.
The service and meal was excellent. We had 6:30 pm reservation for 4 and we left at 10pm. We were not hurried in the least.
We had the sample meal with several appys and lamb. One person in our party didn't eat lamb so chicken was substituted. It was all delicious and piping hot.
We will surely return as would our friends who were with us. It was a delightful evening.
Dinner meal. Seated quickly and well attended to through the evening. Had the Taverna Special with several courses in traditional style. Everything was hot and tasty. Nice, family-run atmosphere. Will definitely return when in the mood for a Greek meal.
Santorini’s quality & service has really declined over the past few years, Though they’ve never been a “fancy” restaurant, their staff always treated you as if it was. Not this time around.
We entered the restaurant after making a reservation hours earlier for a birthday dinner/date night. There were three tables occupied - one of which was a loud, extended family - which for some reason we were seated immediately next to. There was a wailing infant on a chair less than two feet away from us, and we were close enough to the family that we could have easily joined into their conversation had we wanted to. This was not the intimate date night we had planned for, so I asked if we could move to the two-top just behind us. The host who sat us said no, because if they had a party of six come in that evening, they’d need to join the two top with the adjacent four-top. I can see the logic in that, but considering the restaurant was almost empty & that we had gone to the effort to reserve a table where this potential six-top had not, good customer service would dictate that it would be worth accommodating our reasonable request. He again said we could not move. Then, after reluctantly taking our assigned spots, our server came back with water and she said we could move. Which was appreciated, but the effort it took to get to that conclusion seemed unnecessary.
Our server, while accommodating enough, hardly spoke, no specials or anything were mentioned. Her appearance was disheveled, with a wrinkled and untucked shirt. There was no wine service, the white was left on the table without an ice bucket. We ordered the saganaki and were confused when she brought it out to us already sizzling. I guess they don’t do the flambé at the table anymore? The meal was alright. “Veggies” on the side consisted of what I’m assuming were frozen green beans with the odd chunk of carrot.
For the price point, it was all pretty disappointing. Won’t be back for awhile.
Fabulous authentic Greek food.
Our first time at this restaurant and the food was spectacular. We can’t wait to go back. .
