Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar - KIHEI, Maui
The food was on point! I will definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Always my go to restaurant when in Maui! The food is excellent and the sushi is fresh! I always ask the sushi chef to be creative and make what they want. It always looks like art!
The food was not that special.
Best restaurant on Maui. Always fresh always great!
The staff was very friendly and the food was amazing
Service was great, and the food was pretty good. I wish there were some more cooked sushi rolls offered.
It was a great little spot, super casual, not terribly expensive, lots of different types of entrees and rolls. I'm not entirely sure why it's such a big deal though - it's a good sushi place, nothing out of the ordinary.
Over crowded, noisy, cafeteria like with bright overhead lights, no ambiance, food was good but came at intermittent times served by waitress who didn’t care and told us if food didn’t show up, don’t worry about it. Their location in Kapalua is 5 times better. Will not go back.
When we are in Maui it is a definite must. Outstanding sushi great drinks ad fun atmosphere make it great.
Out was fine will try again
Food was excellent as was the service.
Quality sushi restaurant with a Hawaiian twist. Lots of large groups. I was glad I'd used OpenTable to reserve our table for 2. Walk ups had to wait on a Thursday evening.
Unique Sushi served... would recommend to all sushi lovers.
Fresh and reasonably fast. Yum!
It has such good collection of dishes, everybody will find what they enjoy!
Sansei has great Island/sushi cuisine. Very inventive and quite affordable. Always a great experience.
Awesome food and service
We had the shrimp vegetable tempura and grilled pork chops. It was very good but I liked what I had last time slightly better, the pepper corn steak. The mai tai was good.
Best sushi & sashimi in Maui. We went on the first Sunday after New Year's, and it seemed they were a little short staffed, so the service was slow.
Our waiter was not welcoming and engaging instead rather aloof. My family of 4 had looked forward to dining at this restaurant and the waiter made our experience very awkward.....too many examples to list. The food was just okay besides the edamame which were served cold——different than what we expected. I am usually not so critical but this overall was not a good experience and would never revisit this restaurant.
I was there for My 60 the Birthday and we did not get seated until 20 min after our reservation time.
The food was horrible the tempura was cut so big that I was not able to even eat it. The tempura shrimp were soggy and bland. The sushi was also horrible. I will never ever go back. I do not recommend this restaurant I went out the next night to Pizza Madness and for $30 had the best pizza ever.
Do not bother washing your time or money at Sansei ! YucK!
what a terrible experience we had here - this place was highly recommended to us for their sushi !We are coming from AZ, I have to say we have better sushi in a landlocked state then this Maui restaurant. Two of my kids ordered salad and both said it not edible
Service was slow and disjointed will not be coming back or recommending to anyone
The food here was just OK. There are better sushi restaurants.
Normally this restaurant is one of our favorites, but this time the sushi was so so (we actually sent one roll back the tempura was so mushy) and the servers were run off their feet and thus inattentive, even giving us dirty bowls at some point. I hope this was a one time exception and not the new norm!
My wife and I decided to eat at Sansei for dinner during our Maui vacation because it was so highly recommended. We were pleased with the service but the food was average at best and not worth the prices we paid for dinner. The sushi presentation was nice but it was not of the quality and taste we would expect for Hawaii. Ironically, we have had much better sushi in Memphis, TN. The Dynamite Shrimp appetizer was OK but the crab ravioli was terrible. Two stars is being generous for our meal at Sansei.
We went to Sensa for a special occasion the other night after not having been ther for a few years. The food was delicious but the place was crowded, noisy and our server was way too busy to give us much attention.
Great food! Good quality ingredients, prompt service, knowledgeable and courteous staff.
First time here, would definitely go back and highly recommend it to anyone!!! Our waitress , sorry can’t remember her name, but lives in Makawao, was probably one of the best waitresses we’ve ever had!!!
Most of the dishes that we ordered tasted pretty good! The prices were decent, not overly priced like some other places that we tried while in Maui.
As always Sansei was an excellent experience. Our server was extremely busy but still was 100% on top of his game, he didn’t miss a beat! The food was incredible as always and we look forward to Sansei’s every single time!
We love Sansei! The atmosphere is a bit tired but the food is always excellent.
Nice family restaurant. Consistently good sushi.
Very average food. Waitress was kind and very knowledgeable about food allergies. Ambiance dated for price. Drinks mediocre. Overall ok. Liked that reservations were accepted.
Very poor service
Always a great meal / experience!
Great food and very friendly service. Been here a few times and always great! Double decker roll and cajun sashimi off the hook! Order them if available!
Sashimi and sushi is better than average same type restaurant, but not as good as sushi only restaurant. Tempura is quite a disappointing. The lobster is the true disaster, taste nothing and come up with uncooked veggie. I have never see anything like this...
Good things include a seafood noodle, seared scallops, and dessert.
Awesome authentic Maui cuisine. A must go for anyone traveling and wanting great sushi.
Been here before many times, always had great food, good service, this time the food was okay, waited a long time for last dish-like 35 mins...the service wasn’t as usual, server seemed annoyed we didn’t order alcohol and for that reason I’m not certain we will be back.
Average at best, and defiantly not worth the price they are charging. The panko crusted ahi tuna was very good, and unique, but that was about it. The ahi tuna poke was a disappointment, bland and tasted underwhelming. The spider roll's rice didn't hold together well, and the soft shell crab was not freshly fried. Lastly, the fried ice cream's batter was way too thick.
