I have been coming to this restaurant for over 8 years and I really don’t know why. I’m done! The service is so poor that no matter how good the food is it is not worth it at all!!!!
I should have remembered that the last time they served my shellfish after I told them I was allergic to it. First time shame on you, second time shame on me!
The view was spectacular. The menu was extremely limited and lacked flavor. We waited an hour and forty minutes to receive our dinner and when it came out it was wrong. The server seemed extremely frazzled. The food left a lot to be desired and for the price, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone except for a cocktail to watch the sunset. Very disappointed with our experience.
Sale e Pepe is tops among all of the upscale beach front restaurants in SWFla. They have a talented, creative kitchen led by Chef Antonio that continues to deliver a consistent delicious food. One tip: although they feature great Italian cuisine you can also expect to be served gourmet steaks and seafood.
Unfortunately this was one of our worst dining experiences. The service at the bar was very good but once through to the dining room
Dispointed in the service, waited 45 min to order drinks. Dinner took longer
The service was excellent. They were on top of their game. The staff is dressed sharply. The food is exquisite. The flavors are very unique and they put a lot of time in the presentation. Very formal. The decor is outstanding. I love this place. Great look, great food, and great service. You can’t go wrong.
While it was a lovely evening and we enjoyed ourselves, we did not have the outstanding service as we have previously been accustomed to here. The couple we were dining with had arrived first. The hostess told them to wait out in the lobby or go to the bar. A bit on the rude side. The couple we were meeting were a little put off by this, understandably so. Victoria (I believe that was her name) did a very good job, and was extremely polite! Her service was very good. The wait between our first course and main meal was extraordinarily long, and no-one had offered us a second drink the whole evening. I found the cost of our dinner for two to be higher than in the past, and thought it was a little too high for what we did in fact have. Overall it is always a lovely place to dine as the ambience is wonderful, the service is usually impecabble and the food delicious.
If I had to find a single word to describe Chef Antonio's creations, I would use "Superb!" Although his summer menu is slightly limited, it does not skimp on variety nor flavor. I would not hesitate to recommend Sale e Pepe to anyone interested in fine dining overlooking the Gulf of Mexico sunset.
Great place for a quiet romantic dinner. Definitely book the patio for evening dinner for beautiful sunset views. Expensive but good selection of food and drinks.
Sale e Pepe is our "go to" place for special dinners on Marco Island. There are a number of truly outstanding restaurants anymore on Marco, but for a special, fine dining experience, this is the place to go. Service is impeccable and the sunset view is by far the best on the island. Our dinners were all excellent. We tried a couple appetizers at the recommendation of the waitress and they were great.
If you have time, go to the bar and have a cocktail early, before your dinner. It is fun watching the bartenders "concoct" different drinks.
Exceptional service and delicious dinner
Fine dining in an outstanding beach front venue. What more can you ask for from an eatery. My favorites are zucchini blossoms to begin and any of the pastas. We had the salmon the other day and it was cooked to perfection.
Wonderful evening from the ambiance to the food.
Beautiful location oceanfront . Boris makes a great dirty martini and the wait staff is young, enthusiastic and very friendly. My Branzino was incredible, the oysters fresh, and an extensive wine list. One section is reserved for more dress attire, I.e. no shorts, but outside and the bar area are casual.
Excellent menu and impeccable service- truly fine dining and well worth the mandatory 18% gratuity-once you visit it will all make sense
Service was impeccable. My chicken was just perfect. Enjoyed my salad.
Classiest restaurant on Marco Island. Fine dining at its Best !
Excellent as always!
We were pleasantly surprised and excited by our entire meal at Sale e Pepe! The appetizers were delicious with spectacular presentation. It was when dinner arrived we all agreed that it was our best dinner in Marco.
My wife and I were in Marco saw Pepe and wanted to give it a try. The restaurant and the ambiance were spectacular. The food was very good, after that it went down from there. I eat a fine dining regularly and was most surprised by an automatic 18% service fee on the check for two people. I have never seen that before at a fine dining restaurant The menu was very limited again especially for a fine dining restaurant, however the food was very food. The most disappointing thing was the service. Their were three tables in the are of the restaurant we were in. We were the first seated and the last to get our wine. I had to pour our next glass of wine twice. For the first time I did not read the open table reviews before we dined. I won't make that mistake again. This restaurant has a lot of potential the location is outstanding our dinner value was very poor.
Service was slow. Food was good, but not impressive. Presentation was great! Pasta great. Fish regular and dessert disappointing ( the Pana cotta, the tiramisu was so so)
Good restaurant, but I expected much more.
View was fantastic!
We came to celebrate my sister’s birthday. We at outside and view was nice. Food was good, but came out an hour and a half after we ordered it, and everyone around us who came after us, including larger parties got served first. We had children and they had ordered simple pastas or spaghetti with butter, and they didn’t even bring their food. No offers were made to do so. It was upsetting, actually, infuriating and ruined our celebration. Will never come back.
18% club service. They got their gratuity no matter what they did
Delicious food with great ambiance. A perfect dining experience to share with our guests....
First time trying this restaurant after visiting Marco island for many years. The view is amazing. I wish I could say the same about the rest of the visit. The service was less than par. Our server was not attentive. Took over an hour to get a refill on our water. We waited for over an hour to get our food. When it came out, it was luke warm. We watched people come in and get their food before we did. Overall, just a very disappointing experience. Would not recommend.
Poor menu , said it is a summer menu,
You must not think much of full time residents then
I’ll eat else where from now on
Absolutely amazing! Service and food were perfection!!!
Service was terrible. I had to find the waiter multiple times and they were not busy
The location is great! Beach-side behind the Marco Ocean Resort. We sat outside on the terrace. The appetizer, entrees and dessert were all very good, but just a bit shy of the highest rating. We had the zucchini bloom, Parpadelle Bolognese, ravioli, huckleberry sorbet and semifreddo. Very good. Service was good, but not consistent.
Loved our dinner there! Yes, it was pricey, but the service, food, and staff were top notch! Completely enjoyed our time there, and look forward to a future dinner there!
We have eaten there many times before always exceptional service outstanding meals perfect ambience. With that said going there off-season is totally different. Service was slow food choices were limited however you can’t ruin the ambience and view
We booked a reservation based on a recommendation from our concierge. We had read less than stellar reviews of service/food but too into account that it’s easier for people to make an effort to write a negative review vs a positive one.
POSITIVES: Beautiful, old world charm location for viewing the sunset. Friendly staff. Appetizers and entrees good & extensive wine list that did not break the bank.
NEGATIVES: Despite not being very busy, it was impossible to get the sommelier for a wine recommendation. As a fine dining option, they expect you to use the same fork throughout your different courses; we did not know this and allowed our silverware to be taken with the first course and then had to flag down a passing hostess to get us replacement silverware after receiving our entrees. Waiter was slow to come to our table to check on us and while nice just seemed out of his element.
Lastly, as a table of two we were surprised to see an 18% gratuity tacked on to our bill. No mention of this being policy when we made our reservation or on the menu but the waiter did at least call attention to it by circling it on the bill.
My husband and I went here for our honeymoon dinner and we were blown away. From the view and staff to the food and drink, everything was exceptional. Men wear your jackets and women put on your heels. This is a place you won’t soon forget.
The stuffed zucchini flowers were beautifully dislayed and delicious! The froathy mascarpone cheese served with parpadella pasta was not visually appealing at all.
Waiter was polite
food was given to the wrong people
my drink order was wrong very simple johnnie walker black neat
not attentive to empty drink glasses
food was sparce
had good flavor
No management interaction
After much searching and reading reviews and menus, decided to go with “Sale e Pepe”. An excellent decision on my part :) Elegant restaurant with a magnificent view of the beach. Not too large of a menu but delicious entrees. We went with the pre-fix “summer menu” and we were all pleasantly pleased. 3 course dinner includes a glass of wine for $39. Excellent value and nice size portions. Large staff, ready to do their job but a bit on top of us and they took away everything around us, including our napkins while we were still eating dessert. That was a bit much. I realize that they close a bit early(as most restaurants do in Marco Island and Naples, way too early for my taste)but please don’t rush your customers, especially when we drove 45 minutes and were celebrating a special birthday. That puts a bit of a damper on a beautiful, special and delicious dinner.
This is my favorite restaurant both on Marco Island and in the entire SW Florida region. Although the summer menu offerings are limited, and there is a summer price fix option, all of the offerings are beautifully presented and delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant for both food, service, and scenery (sunset)! I had the price fix and enjoyed stuffed and delicately fried zucchini blossoms, a homemade ravioli, and a tiramisu with amaretti biscuit. Others in my group enjoyed the Branzini and lamb chops! I shall return....
WORST.DINNER.EVER! From the phone call to let us know that a jacket was required to sit in the dining room to the end of the horrible meal, the entire experience was horrible! We were put in casual dining because my husband didn’t have a jacket. Upon leaving we looked into the main dining room & we were better dressed than everyone in there! Service was horrible! At least 1/2 hr between each course that NO ONE waited on us! Food was horrible! Lamb chops ordered medium rare were well done & tough! Noodles ordered were mushy! They offered to bring us other entrees but we had already spent way too much time waiting for them! A complimentary Anniversary dessert was offered and was terrible! A grand marnier soufflé was heavy and bland! Chocolates tasted like wax! The manager was told the noodles were mushy & she responded that they are made in house! Not well!!! Will not return ever! DO NOT GO!!!
Last day of the family holiday
Food was very good but choices were very limited. View was excellent.
