We had the £51 Signature set meal that comes with 3 drinks. We choose the beef main, cooked at the table delicious and at no extra charge. All the food was excellent and tasty and each mouthful brought back memories of the time we lived in Japan. Service is attentive , the only small improvement would be if the courses particularly at the beginning were not brought to the table so quickly. Slower please. Otherwise thank you a lovely meal.
Great modern Japanese food. Deco is fab! Location perfect.
The food was amazing and the atmosphere perfect.
I would not recommend their menu which is overpriced and not enough options - 3 drinks included is not a practical choice.
There were a few hiccups in the service, but everybody was very nice.
Great place for a celebration.
Except for the truffle clay pot rice, all other dishes were a little disappointing and lacklustre.
Overpriced, poor quality food.
It was the worst experience in Sushi restaurant in London! The service was very bad, they were rushing everything. The chef is not Japanese and I can tell by the way they made sushi that they were not showing respect to food at all! I was sitting at the counter table so I see the process of making each dish. It was overrated and over price. The sashimi was not fresh. The only thing that taste good was water. Honestly, I can get a better sushi at Wasabi.
Getting the waiters attention is a full time job, but the food is fantastic.
The food and service were outstanding as always - but the restaurant was absolutely freezing cold.
The heating clearly was not working by any of the tables near the windows on St James - a clear case of Sake No Heating !
The draft from the windows made us very uncomfortable and cold. We had to wait 45 mins before someone to take the order. The food was nice but not WOW.
Expect much more for expensive restaurant.
Was a bit concerned it would not be up to standard as there were quite a few negative comments however could not fault teh whole experience
Wonderfully light room. And a Bento Box for lunch is a perfect.
Great food and service
Very nice meal
Toujours aussi bon! Service professionnel
Et cadre top
Great ambiance, attentive service and exceptional selection
Delicious & original.
Excellent in every way.
Maybe some variation to musical range ;)
Food is ok but service is miserable despite kind personnel who try to make it good. Someone runs it very badly. If you’re sited next to air conditioning and they don’t do anything despite it being really cold. You pay 500 quid for eating in you jacket. Orders come messed up. Take the same money and go to Nobu which is close and you’ll be much better served.
Too expensive for the quality of food. The service was outstanding however the food was low quality and the sushi was very poor. Need to find a new chef.
Fantastic food, service was okay, venue was a bit cramped - our table was too close to other tables. Would definitely visit again though for the food :)
Amazing ambience, quiet restaurant, nice service, some waiters were pretty new and were confused with the tables numbers and orders, but that's understandable. do recommend this restaurant.
Lovely restaurant, mostly friendly staff but slow service. Food arrived before our drinks.
Food was delicious but a bit costly.
Excellent food and very proper service.
Spendid setting and excellent and innovative cuisine
Everything was pretty good, but not good enough for the price, I'm sorry to report.
Fantastic restaurant! It is the most perfect combination of value for money and I’ve been in love with this place for the last 5 years. The quality of the food is exceptional, the menu has plenty of mouthwatering options ( their signature sushi with sea urchin, wagyu beef , truffle and caviar is to die for) and the price points can fit any budget - they even have an option of set menu with alcohol for less than 50£. The service is exceptional and stuff is very attentive . There is a free option of sitting at the counter and watching the food preparation process , which I personally enjoy even more than norma tables. Overall it’s a gem and I would really recommend!
All quite average in terms of service and taste. Doesn’t merit the location. It was £49/head and felt like it.
Excellent all round. And incredible special menu deal through OpenTable.
We went for a celebration of my twins birthday. The staff seemed irritated and the service was impersonal. The food was good but not amazing.
Amazing food, service, environment
I have been here many times through the years, and it now seems to have a definite downward trajectory, particularly in the area of service. On this visit, I ordered a cocktail and waited...and waited, etc. Three different attempts were made to solicit my meal order, and I explained that I wanted the cocktail as an apertif, not as dessert. When it arrived 30 minutes after my order, I placed the food order. The sushi was fine, as it is not too dependent on the time between preparation and serving. The tempura was, however, a horrible mess served at room temperature. I have no idea how long it takes to get tempura to room temperature, but more than a few minutes I would guess. I also observed the server who brought it out breeze past my table and take it on a grand tour of the dining room, completing the lap at my table about 5 minutes later. This is pitiful stuff at these prices.
Bento Box for lunch is the best option - beautifully presented; delicious and satisfying. The high ceiling and light wood creates a relaxing environment. Lovely staff. Go visit!
Not cheap but a very lovely experience, special.
An excellent meal. Friendly service. Good value. Nothing more to add.
Good value for money at Sunday
Good food, but overly expensive in my opinion and ‘I’m not a cheap date’ Very good cocktail offering plenty of choice.
Do not waste your money!
Firstly, the restaurant is freezing. When I pointed this out and asked to move tables, I was offered a hot drink! When I requested a different table I was told there was nothing and maybe I could try one of their sister restaurants?! After explaining that this is a prestigious restaurant that should not require patrons to sit in winter coats, a table was found but it made no difference. Given this was a special 55th birthday celebration, our disappointment was huge. Anyway, unable to change restaurants, we stuck with it. I wish I could have said it was worth it but it wasn’t. We had the sashimi platter which was ok but nothing special - we have eaten raw fish that tastes equally great in cheap, local Japanese joints. Each piece I ate had gristly bits that were inedible. The black cod sushi was also very boring and plain. The Japanese aubergine with fig would have been lovely - if there had actually been more than just two tiny pieces of figs (from which the balance of sweetness would have helped the dish immensely). The mixed tempura was no better than a street food cafe and the batter was pretty greasy. The main course smoked duck breast was the size of a small starter although this dish was extremely tasty and the meat was very tender and succulent. We had 4 small carafes of sake served warm and the restaurant only charged for 3 as a token of apology but, when the bill was processed, we were overcharged and had to wait around for a refund. We came here because we didn’t get a chance to eat at the branch in Omniya in Bali but the food, environment and service fell hugely short of expectations and, for the price, is nothing less than a rip off for sub standard food and ambience. Sake no Hana ruined the 55th surprise for my partner. All hype and no heart. Shockingly bad!
The food was amazing. However, the lack of service took away from the overall experience. It seems that they were under staffed for a full restaurant in a Saturday night.
I have had good food & service here having visited twice in the last year but sadly this wasn’t one of those occasions. The evening I went the lighting was so poor the table next to mine had to use the torch on their phone to read the menu. This isn’t ambience, it’s darkness. This was a minor issue but maybe symptomatic of a once good restaurant disintegrating. If you have been to an indifferent fish & chip shop & wondered about the batter it was nothing compared to the inedible tempura served to me. It masked the taste of what it covered & was probably the worst piece of Japanese cooking I have come across (I have lived & worked in Japan). I complained politely to the head waitress. She failed to offer to replace the offending tempura or taste it & merely said she would let the chef know. She was completely indifferent. This once good restaurant is now nothing less than dreadful.
