Service was too quick, food was average in taste and quality; portions were nice size.
We go every year for the anniversary of our first date. Always enjoy our dining experience.
The food was horrible. It made me wonder how they have been able to stay in business all this time. The salad was bag lettuce. I expect fresh cut lettuce. The pasta had standing water in the bowl. I won't go back.
Very disappointing dining experience! We have eaten in several restaurants in Baltimore’s Little Italy and haven’t had a bad meal...until now. The food was just not good at all. My daughter ordered a steak and while it was a generous portion and cooked to proper temperature , it was the worst steak We’ve ever tasted.....no seasoning, no flavor, poor presentation. I mean, how can you screw up a steak? My husbands veal saltimboca was very tough and chewy. The portion was small. My shrimp dish was mediocre at best. I would not recommend this restaurant at all.
Sincerely, your friends from Jersey
It was as good an eating experience as we expected. Highly recommend Sabs.
We hadn't been since high school over 20 years ago.
We were sat in the bar area at 6 pm on a Saturday. We were the only ones sat in this area until 7:15 pm. It was grand central station. Loud, servers calling for bar drinks and walking back and forth through the tables. Why we were sat there when they had so many other dining rooms is beyond me? You pay $95 for a meal for two people, you expect to eat in a restaurant with a bit of ambience - which it looked like the other rooms had.
It made the good food disappointing because all I could focus on was how much server activity was in that area. Bummer!
Oh - final mention - garlic bread is SPICY - as it has red pepper flakes on it. No mention on the menu and our server didn’t even know. If you are going to tout your bread as being the best ever - you might want to tell people it has red pepper flakes in the herb mixture. About blew my head off! Another bummer!
Wonderful family dinner celebrating Valentine's Day! Our server Dotious was great - friendly, efficient and took care of everything! Our food as always was excellent...I dream about the Bookmaker Salad between visits! Highly recommend! It's most excellent that you can count on your favorites not changing!
In years past, we had a 5 star experience. This year, the experience was 3 star. Needs a fresh decor, clean bathrooms, energetic staff. Ministrone was sent back. Shrimp were good, large portions, garlic bread was just okay.
Nice old time Italian restaurant that needs a little updating. Overall, everything was average. Our greeters were very friendly. The table service was ok but lacked some details that we overheard other patrons getting. The food was good but bland. I hate saying bland, as it sounds so generic and of personal opinion, but our group of 5 all agreed. I would give it another try but in no hurry to do so.
Waiting over 30 minutes to be seated which was acceptable but then waited an additional 30 minutes and our waiter never came back to take our order. We were brought bread and water. It was Valentines weekend and our anniversary. We told the older gent who had sat us in the upstairs area and he did apologize. As we were leaving, we told the other older gent who was wearing a red sweater and was initially taking the names of the reservations, and he just shrugged and said nothing. I find it hard to believe this is family owned and has been open so many years. I did read reviews that many said it has been going downhill in recent years but my husband did like the menu. My first impression of the older gent with the red sweater was not one of warmth, “welcome to my home” kind of feel that we get in Little Italy in New York. That is where we are originally from. We were so disappointed that we never ate dinner on our anniversary. We even took a 930pm reservation, hoping it would not be so crowded and overwhelming and it wasn’t. It was just poor service and understaffed. I would never recommend this place and will tell the hotel that we are staying at that also.
Poor food. Everything freezer or can quality and flavorless. Pasta in oil was mainly water and gross
I understand Valentine’s day is a busy day for restaurants, but the experience we had here was just terrible. We made a reservation for 9 PM, we were not seated until 9:35/9:40. From then our waitress only spoke maybe 3 sentences to us, and we genuinely felt like she treated us poorly for no good reason. She was an older woman in a seemingly bad mood towards us, even though we were not impolite and didn’t complain once about the hour wait for our food once we actually had the chance to order. The tables were extremely close together, it felt cramped and uncomfortable in the restaurant, and the food was not good enough to warrant the prices charged at all, as it had next to no flavor. When we finally received and finished our meals, I politely asked if we were to get dessert, would the wait be comparable to the wait for dinner. Our waitress responded rudely with “No no no there’s no wait for a dessert” and looked at us like we were crazy or like we hadn’t just waited an hour for our entrees. I will not revisit this restaurant, hopefully their normal service isn’t this bad for the people who go on non holidays.
Took my wife here for a date to celebrate Valentines Day. Our reservations were for 8:30 and we arrived at 8. Understandably, they were running behind on seating and there was a long line. The gentleman at the front door was polite and did his best, so it was about 8:45 when we were actually seated. Not too bad. It was really good that the patrons took the situation in stride and that no harsh words were spoken to make matters worse.
We had the mussels in the white sauce but the sauce was too heavy. My wife had the Fettuccine Felicia which was excellent. I had the rigatoni which, also, was very good. The place was packed and it was a little noisy, but again, under the circumstances, understandable. Service was attentive.
1 cocktail and a half carafe of the house red wine (good) total tab just shy of $100.
All things considered, we’ll definitely return on a quiet evening in the near future.
Will go back eventually to give it another chance... but not on Valentine's Day or any special occasion. The place was excessively overbooked...crowd outside (about 15 couples) all with the same 8pm reservation time. Took over an hour to be seated with a reservation...but I gave it slack since it was Valentine's. Biggest upset was the service. Waitress was obviously drained and tired for the day..... and unfortunately she took it on us... had to complain about her attitude to management. Food did not come out until after 10pm... a whole 1 hour after we sat down. When food came out, the pasta that came with my dish is no where to be found... waited another 10 minutes to get (after complaining). Don't bother asking for more bread and condiments like crush pepper, you might get your waitress upset.
Management and bartender were however very polite, professional and apologetic.
Valentine's day. Full house. Great food. Great server.
Great food. Meatballs were outstanding.
The food was great but the service wasn’t very good. The server really seemed to care.
Everyone at Sabatino’s was so welcoming and helpful. A very nice dinner. It was Valentines Day, so very busy. The food was very good but the pace of the meal was wrong. Our salads arrived and within 60 seconds, our entrees arrived. Worse yet, my entree arrived luke warm. The apologetic waiter had the meal remade. All in all an acceptable experience, but we think the hectic evening set the restaurant and its kitchen off its usual competence.
The food was great red sauce Italian food. Chicken parm, baked Ziti, baked cheese sticks, and salads fantastic. Waitress was helpful and made sure we did not order too much. Grand daughter 11 thought all food was great. She can be selective on what she eats. It an old Italian restaurant which is what we like. Gone there many times over the past many years.
Amazing! Food was tremendous.
Very disappointed, most of issue was not the food except that a super small portion of pasta. Service was marginal from the moment we walked in the door. Was planning on getting engaged this day , but the mood wasn’t great .
We thoroughly enjoyed Sabatino's, a Little Italy icon. Our waitress, Peachy, took great care of us and the food was excellent. I love the Bookmaker's chopped salad.
Unfortunately our experience at this restaurant was not nearly as good as it had been in years past. Well I’ve not been there for at least five years, I didn’t expect such a big change in quality of food and quality of service. There certainly is opportunity here for improvement and get back to where you once were.
The service was good! I would have like a better selection of drinks, they didn’t have ginger beer to make a mule! The food was good and plenty of it at a generous low cost! I noticed the restaurant could use a update! The gentlemen at the door greeted us with a friendly welcome and hugs were given upon leaving!
Great service, food and price.
What a great Restuarant. Our waiter, long hair Gentleman was great. Took time to explain the food menu and wine list. The food was great. Great setting and still have a lunch special menu, that was unexpected for a nice restaurant. Will be back again.
Classic Italian dining experience. Very friendly staff and outstanding food.
Always a favorite for delicious food and outstanding service! The Bookmaker salad is a must.
Love the food and service every time!
Have enjoyed Sabatino's old world charm and wonderful Italian meals for many years now and have never been disappointed.
If you want to travel back in time to 1985, head to Sabatino’s. It doesn’t look like the decor has changed since then. Service was spotty; our guy seemed new and no one was guiding him. Food was classic Italian, nothing cutting-edge here, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want. My shrimp fra diavolo had absolutely no heat (and there wasn’t crushed red pepper flakes at the table to add). But the shrimp were nice and pasta cooked correctly. Hubby’s veal cacciatore was plentiful and tasty. Sab’s Classic Bookmakers’ salad was fun with the addition of shrimp, egg, and salami (teeny tiny pieces, what’s up with that?). Bottom line? I’d go back. Hubby declines a return visit.
This was a great lunch. Sabatino’s has been around a long time. The sausage and peppers were great. The gnocchi, made with cheese instead of potatoes, were so light they floated! The cannolis were filled just before serving...crisp shell and delectable filling. A great trip back in time!
Out waitress was wonderful. The table was nicely sized & clean. The food was plentiful & tasty. The prices was good. I have nothing but great things to say.
Great food as always.
The decor is a bit dated and could be improved. Otherwise remains authentic.
Had a 1/2 carafe of inexpensive Burgundy which was an excellent value. Would like to have had a fish option for Restaurant Week.
Best Italian restaurant in Baltimore. Food is amazing (baked Gnochi is unbelievable). Service is spectacular. Lots of character in the restaurant. It’s a staple for when my wife and I travel to Baltimore. Love it
We’ve been dinning here for many years. Great food, atmosphere and service
I love Sabatino's and my friends always want to dine there. I highly recommend this restaurant.
