About the restaurant
Our Chef’s take inspiration from Billy Madison who drew a blue duck because he had never seen one before, and he wanted to see a blue duck! Well, since our chefs love classic Adam Sandler humor and innovative cooking, we thought that Bleu Duck was the perfect name to showcase our fun environment and staff as well as our unique and creative menu. Just like Billy, we like to try things that you’ve never seen before!

Bleu Duck Kitchen and Oyster Bar is a full service restaurant that provides a fun and welcoming atmosphere where white linens meet a casual feel to create the new concept of “fun-dining”. Co-Owners Erik Kleven and Jennifer Lester regard each customer as a welcomed friend, and aim to provide them with an experience that is both personal and unique every time they visit.

We love the Bleu Duck Kitchen. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and pleasant. The food is delicious and unusual. The price is worth it for the flavor, freshness and generous portions. And the crepé cake is divine!!

We had dinner with another couple. All of us enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was good (not amazing), and for the price I expected higher quality. Chris, our server was very nice, and very good at explaining the menu. He kept on checking with us to see if we needed anything, and overall he contributed to a very nice experience. I think Café Lurcat deserves another visit with the expectation of better food experience.

It was good. Not great. Port selection was very poor. Only 10 year. No salads served with meals and if you substitute potatoes for a salad it’s an up charge. Beautiful view.

Great ambiance - casual but nice, covered porch is lovely, inside is charming. Food was good and varied but not quite great. Appetizer and desert portions are generous enough to share.

Juniper's is a charming little restaurant with great food in a scenic location. Immediately alongside the Root River and the Root River Bicycle Trail, it has a stimulating outdoor setting. (Cyclists looked longingly at the food as they rolled by us.) My wife and I enjoyed delightful cocktails. I ordered Mahi-Mahi in a buerre sauce, which came with broccolini and fried wild rice. My wife ordered shrimp, which came with delicious risotto with mushrooms. Everything was cooked to a perfect degree. We shared the house ("Hydro") salad that could not be beat for freshness and flavor. Everything deliciously prepared, the serving sizes were generous and right-sized (not just tasteless heaping mounds of food). For desert: strawberry-rhubarb pie and banana cream pie. Lanesboro is a great little town on the Root River that has made a specialty of small hotel/B&B accommodations in a beautiful valley setting, and capitalizing on the bicycle trail passing through the middle of Lanesboro. The restaurant choices are sparse, but Juniper's more than makes up for that in the quality of their food. This is "haute cuisine" in the countryside -- Juniper's would be a star attraction to any city restaurant scene, and it's "come as you are" ambiance is exactly right for a town economy based on outdoor recreation. Lanesboro and Juniper's is an easy day trip for anyone in the triangle: Twin Cities (2.25 hours)/Madison (3.5 hours)/Des Moines (3.5 hours), with many nature-based attractions along the way.

Saint Paul
About the restaurant

The Lexington is more than a restaurant, it’s an institution. Located on the corner of Lexington Parkway and Grand Avenue, this St. Paul community was the most fashionable at the turn of the 19th century. The St. Paul elite lived just blocks away and the first electric trolley brought visitors up and down Grand Avenue. The Lexington opened in 1935, after the end of prohibition, and was a popular neighborhood bar to gather and socialize. Previously operating as a speakeasy, the expansive wood panels were perfect for hiding a little booze and one can only imagine the shenanigans going on beyond the hidden staircase behind the coat check. For decades following, The Lex, as it’s called by locals and enthusiasts alike, was the place to be seen; business dealings, cocktail hours, and milestone celebrations were a regular occurrence for St. Paul socialites.
