A charming outdoor setting on a beautiful evening, but indoor tables were also available. Very casual crowd, many locals, but quiet enough for pleasant conversation. Drinks menu was expansive, including about 25 varieties of margaritas. Began with guacamole made at our table - best I’ve had in many a day! Menu was a a varied mix of classic Mexican, Tex-Mex, and Southwestern dishes, including about 12 vegetarian items. I opted for a burrito filled with cubed fajita meat and whole charro beans, topped with a nicely spiced but not fiery red sauce. The meat had just the right amount of salt and spices and just a bit of char from the grill. Sides included a fresh, finely chopped pico de gallo, roasted whole kernel corn, rice and beans. Portions were ample - come hungry, or plan on a great lunch next day. I have found two “go to spots” in Santa Fe: La Fonda for breakfast and Gabriel’s for dinner.

The food and wine were excellent but the service was poor. They brought us the wrong food and the bill was not correct. Charged us for the wrong food. It was clear the staff needed more customer service training

SPIRITED DINING AND DRINKS IN SANTA FE

In 1882, Abraham Staab, a European immigrant who became one of Santa Fe’s most prosperous merchants, built a Victorian mansion on property that now belongs to La Posada. Abraham’s elegant wife, Julia, entertained local society and visiting dignitaries in incomparable style. Legend has it that Julia so loved her home that she has never left it.

Today, we celebrate Julia Staab as our muse and honor her name and legendary hospitality with the opening of Julia, A Spirited Restaurant & Bar. The restaurant features innovative, locally sourced dishes as well as an extensive selection of fine wines and spirits.

High praise for the chef. I tried the roasted poblano pepper and it was incredible. It was stuffed with quinoa and a couple of very flavorable sauces. I have never had anything like it. My husband had the grilled salmon and again it was really good. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff took great care of us.

They were having issues with their liquor license so the place was empty. Such a bummer cause the food was really good! And a lovely spot.

Chef José is brilliant. The presentation is appealing to the eyes, but the flavors and portions are outstanding . I’ve had 3 excellent meals there already. I will become a regular. The service is great: thank you Marcos y Mayelka . Liquor license will be in place very soon. It will be a superior wine list ! Support our local chefs.
