Rudy & Paco Restaurant & Bar
Rudy & Paco is located next door to The Grand 1894 Opera House and is a great choice for pre-show dinner specials.
No shorts (men or women), hats/caps, or sleeveless shirts for men.
Most favorite restaurant in Galveston. There is no better food. Jordan is the best server ever!
Fabulous surprise anniversary dessert
We were there for our 35th Wedding Anniversary. The food and service was fabulous! The issue was a party of 6 next to us that were drunk and extremely loud. The entire restaurant was looking at them as they were disturbing everyone. We had a late reservation thinking it would be quiet.
The 3 roses I requested and the dessert was complementary and a very nice touch.
A treasure of Galveston, of owner Paqo’s heart, soul and life, with Nicaraguan~based flavors and gorgeous local seafood items, classic European and American dishes, superb salads, seasonal vegetables, and his sentimental touches such as scalloped potato casserole, best bread pudding of the Universe, and a kind, warm, professional staff. Lovely, contented, joyful ambiance. Alex, our gentleman waiter, shepherded us through a beautiful evening. A very special place.
Great food. Great service. Talked to Paco, and he made the night even better. So glad we went.

One trip is all it takes to understand why this is a Favorite Restaurant of so many on Galveston Island!
I salute the owners, again another fantastic meal!
And they treated my Birthday guest with honors!
Truly it is a pleasure to eat here!
It was our 50th wedding anniversary and the restaurant was highly recommended to us by a friend. Upon our entry, we were greeted by Paco who introduced us to his daughter. It was a great start to a special dinner for us. Our waitress, Angela, was especially attentive and we enjoyed our conversation with her as she met our every need. The dinner ended with a wonderful surprise anniversary dessert. Thank you Paco, Angela and all your staff for adding to an already special anniversary.
Always enjoy a visit here
We got the seafood tower and it was delicious. Such a great time!
This place is a tour-de-force of flavors in Exquisite presentation.
As always a lovely meal with great service. We were seated adjacent to the bar on a two top so the bustle and noise were noticeable, which is why my rating is not completely 5 star.
Paco was a gracious host and his staff extremely attentive! Best bisque I’ve ever had. The food was superb. When in town will visit again!
Like swimming through butter and cream in a ball gown! I wait all year for a cup of their cream of poblano soup. And there is always a delicious "happy anniversary" mousse at the end of the meal. Not really a place to take kids, but when we have the staff has been kind and accommodating.
The food, as always, was superb. Our server, Katy, was new and it showed! The service was not up to the standard we are used to at Rudy & Paco
This was a great dining experience. The ambience was amazing. Paco introduced himself to us and made our visit exceptionally personal. The food was beautifully prepared and delicious. A unique feature is that those who frequent this establishment have their own wine boxes. Our waiter, Alex was so enjoyable. He was very attentive and humorous. This was my mother's 89th birthday; however, there were at least four other women celebrating their birthdays here. Mother wants to return here for her 90th birthday!
Wonderful place for dinner before heading to a show next door at The Grand Opera House...or anytime really!! :) Food and service is always outstanding. Tables are a little too close and crowded together, but it's worth it for all the other great qualities. Extensive wine list at reasonable prices. I love this place!!
Alex took amazing care of our party of 3. My husband had the lamb chops and he said they were beyond excellent. I had a plantain encrusted snapper filet and it was just amazing, Alex recommended the snapper, as well as the shrimp dish that a friend ordered. As usual the service and food was impeccable. We look forward to returning!
Joined friends for lunch. As always, service at R&P was outstanding. Dishes were good but not quite what the prices would suggest.
Incredible food! Incredible service!
Would like see a salad as part of the meal vs just part of the specials. Great steaks and wonderful matradee. Would like red wine by the glass choice.
Amazing! Best dinner ever!! Only suggestion would be no kids!
Special as always! We live in Houston but always visit Rudy and Paco’s when we visit Galveston.
Excellent service and food was amazing. Very friendly and attentive staff. Wine mark-up was very reasonable. Paco stopping by to say hello and see how things were going was a nice touch.
We were there the same time last year and Angelo was our server. She happened to be our server again this week. She remembered us and was extremely helpful and pleasant, as she was the time before. The food was outstanding, the wine was perfect and we completely enjoyed every part of the evening. We have chosen here to celebrate our wedding anniversary going forward. Worth the drive and overnight stay.
Great atmosphere and very good food. We had a great evening for my wife’s birthday.
This is our favorite restaurant in Galveston. We visit several times a year and always try to eat here
The entire staff was impressive, I proposed to my Girlfriend and they made it completely painless 😉.
The memories that were made there will always be in our minds.
Thanks again to all the staff, we will be back thank you, Greg
The food was excellent! Mr. Paco is super nice! Definitely going back!
First off, FYI: There is a dress code to sit in the dining room! No shorts. My husband had shorts on not knowing this, so he had a choice to borrow some linen pants or we sit at the bar. We opted to sit at the bar, I didn’t mind at all! We had exceptional service from Paco’s daughter, Denise and fellow bar keeper, Aubrey. We tried the ceviche, pretty good, lots of lime! For dinner, blackened red fish and I had the special of surf n turf. The place had a great wine selection, however, little selection if you just want to purchase by the glass... Overall, pricey, but great service and enjoyed seating at the bar.
Outstanding meal. Seafood was exceptional. Generous lump crabmeat toppings. Only one steak on the menu, but everything else was world class.
Wonderful experience, as usual. We enjoyed great food with a lovely bottle of wine that was well priced. The service could not have been better and it is always a pleasure to see the owner!
Lobster tempura is always fantastic!!
Always spectacular, tonight was up to the usual excellent meal!
My husband & I were celebrating our birthdays which are 4 days apart. We had a delicious lovely meal topped off with complimentary desserts on plates written with “Happy Birthday”. It made for a perfect celebration.
I did not know you had afternoon tea. Are they specified hours? Is it your regular dessert menu or is there a Nicaraguan tea that is specific to your country?
Maybe your menu mentioned that your tortilla soup was tomato based. I didn't notice. I definitely prefer a light broth and not a tomato broth, nice chunks of chicken, more avocado and really crisp strips of tortillas, lots of cilantro and green onions and stringy cheese. Just a preference on my part.
I would like to see a change to the plantains and maybe offer freshly cooked tortilla chips as an alternate choice. Maybe a green sauce like Ninfa's old green sauce also. I suppose putting in 3 sauces is a big cost difference and I have always liked the two that you currently do.
The prices have gone up and I can imagine that costs have gone way up too. The atmosphere is always nice and the service is beyond superb. Our waiter was excellent.
Can't wait to see your new place when it opens.
Grouper was mushy. Brussel sprouts were not crispy as advertised. Shrimp was fishy. Soft shell crabs were great. The service was also very good. However, they did forget to bring my side dish that I had ordered.
I never tire of praising Rudy & Paco's. Is it expensive? Yes. Is it worth the money. Yes. We frequently go there when visiting Galveston and sometimes ask friends from Houston to join us for an evening meal. When inviting someone to drive fifty miles for dinner, we need great confidence that they will find the trip worth it. They always do.
Absolutely perfect. 23rd anniversary dinner could not have been better. Grouper and filet minim were prepared to perfection. We will be back!
We always come to Rudy & Pacos when we come to Galveston Island for vacation. We just celebrated our anniversary dinner on Thursday, June 21st and everything was excellent. Our server was awesome, the food outstanding, and the atmosphere and ambience were perfect. Keep it up Paco.
I used to work on the Island and was a regular lunch patron from the opening in 1196 until I moved to San Antonio in 1999.
Excellent restaurant, the best in Galveston! The service, ambiance, food and wine were the best.
