Rudy & Paco is located next door to The Grand 1894 Opera House and is a great choice for pre-show dinner specials.
No shorts (men or women), hats/caps, or sleeveless shirts for men.
As always ,the service was wonderful. Had the crab cake appetizer and I must say it was the best crab cake I’ve ever had. Had the filet and a salad that was yummy.

Finally went after many years knowing it's there and hearing from others how good it is. So went before a show at the Grand next door. We were seated for two in a corner out of the way which was appreciated. Our server said she was new but she did a great job. Wine is pricey and limited. Plaintains and salsas were fresh and a delight to eat as an appetizer alone. We ordered the specials. My husband's lamb chops were tender and tasty. He seemed to be more than satisfied with the dish. I ordered rib eye medium rare. For the price I paid, unfortunately, I just didn't think it was that great of a steak. It was medium rare but just tasted like any other steak. Overall, we did enjoy the ambiance and great service. I'll try the fish next time, maybe.
Based on reviews perhaps we expected too much. Tried the crab cake, it was ok. Ordered ribeye asked for med rare got med. had the bread pudding that was great. Best bites were honestly plantains and salsa and the bread pudding. Nice place, good service, just not worth the $$.
I had tuna with jalapeño cream sauce and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The spice was subtle and didn’t cover the freshness of the fish. I know you are supposed to pair white wine with fish, but we splurged on a bottle of Brunello that was perfect in making my girl’s birthday special. The service is professional. They are attentive without hovering and knowledgeable about the menu. Paco has a beautiful room that is romantic without being too dark.
The service was excellent and friendly without except for slightly slow removal. The KT special was the best dish of the night although the bread pudding was a close 2nd both of which I highly recommend.
Rudy & Paco is always a fantastic experience. If you are looking for fine dining on the island, you can't beat it. This place would easily hold its own if it was in Houston - or for that matter, New York. Highly recommend for celebrating with someone special.

My wife and I began her 50th birthday celebration with an early dinner. The food was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The wait staff was attentive without hovering. Our experience set the tone of the rest of our evening and it was fabulous.
We will be back for our next celebration.
Arguably the best restaurant in Galveston and one of the best in the state. The food is outstanding and unique with the Latin flare. The wine list is outstanding and something on it for everyone. The service is impeccable, attentive, and not rushed. The table is yours for the evening. We spent over 2-1/2 hours dining there for initial drinks, appetizers, main course and dessert. Paco is always there and was a delight to talk to. He went outside with us then took pictures with us and asked us to text him the pictures and added us as a contact on his cell phone. He really enjoys interacting with the customers and that attitude is reflected in his staff. I can hardly wait for his new steak restaurant, Vargas, across the street to open.
Outstanding experience. Rebecca was very pleasant and it was such a nice touch for Paco to personally visit our table and sing happy birthday to the love of my life. Thank you all for a fantastic evening.

The calamari and Caesar salad are some of the best you will ever eat. Any of the snapper entrees are amazing, though the Freddie represents Gulf seafood at its finest. Always worth the return trip and a reservation!
The food is amazing. The owner is onsite. Everything is expertly prepared.
Surf and Turf: Bestes Wagyu- Steak seit langem, Shrimps groß, würde ich nächstes Mal weglassen. House Salat köstlich, sowohl mit Blue Cheddar als auch mit Italian Dressing. Grüne Bohnen mit getrockneten Tomaten sehr gut, Kartoffelgratin lecker nur zu viel und zu mächtig.Service exzellent! Danke Rebecca!

Rudy and Paco never fails to please. The food is outstanding - along with a fine wine list. And, per usual, the service level is off the chart. If you want fine dining with premiere service, Rudy and Paco is a superb choice.
First time to eat there. It was outstanding. The food was great and the service flawless. Army took care of our every need. Drinks from the bar were made with care and were delicious. By far the best fine dining restaurant on the island. We will be back.
I don't think there is a finer restaurant on the planet. Excellent food, service, atmosphere...we'll excellent everything.
Good enough for a two-hour drive one way for dinner if that tells you anything.

One of my favorites. One of the best restaurants in the south.
Consistently outstanding. A rare restaurant in justifying the one hour drive from Houston. However, make sure you have reservations early as possible.
As always food ,service and atmosphere were great. But , our meal for 4 was outrageous due to the" special APPETIZER "-$130.
We will ask about "special " prices if we go again.
Recommended- just be aware pricey and ask about prices.
Loud, crowded. Excellent service but food was just good, not great.
Rudy and Pacos is the best restaurant on the island, and possibly, the planet.
Very receptive staff, and the night we went there were two large groups. The bone in ribeye was terrific. A great spot for a special night out.

Outstanding service, outstanding food. I will be back next visit to the Strand. We had the Chef special, sirloin and shrimp, which was exceptional.
My husband and I have dined here a number of times throughout the years. The last two times our meals were disappointing. Saturday we both had the grouper filet special which was encrusted in tortilla chips and serve with lump crab meat on top and light sauce. Overall, It lacked any significant flavored. On another occasion I had soft shell crabs which were disappointing - would have expected them to have a nice crispness and served hot. Our server Katie was delightful.
Paco consistently creates great dining experiences. Everytime I eat here, I am pleased with my service, food, and recomendations. I never have any fear of recomending this restaraunt to anyone because it never disappoints.
Paco came by our table and wished us a very happy anniversary and then the staff presented us with a fabulous dessert for us to enjoy!! See our picture below. Very classy restaurant, staff was on point and Paco was very personable. Since I'm a BOI we will return soon!! Thanks for making our special event so memorable!!

We have dined at countless restaurants across the world over the years. Without reservation, we can say that after multiple dining experiences at Rudy and Paco, it is in the top three of any restaurants we have ever visited. The food is simply superb and the service is off the chart!
This restaurant is the greatest. I always look forward to bringing friends and dining here it's just the very very best.
The prior reviews stated there was a dress code but multiple patrons were in shorts and flip flops. Sat us in a corner, too many tables throughout the restaurant. Food was sub - par especially for the price. Waitress stumbled on describing the specials and not trained properly. Young and inexperienced, not her fault. There was constant dinner interruption by staff taking away unused dinnerware.
Great service & good food (only criticism is that the soft shell crabs were too heavily breaded)
