Waited over an hour for our meal. The waiter never came over to update us even though he had time to chat with other nearby tables. The food is good but the ambiance is subdued and not very inviting. Worn out chairs, very dated feel. Not an upbeat atmosphere. There are much better choices nearby.

Roy’s is usually amazing, but this experience was a pretty big let down. Our waiter brought our apps and salads but never came back to take our order and never came back to our table. We had to tell the busser that we still needed to order entrees. Because the restaurant was busy and our order got in so late our food came out after we’d been there for almost two hours. Our total time at this meal was THREE HOURS. No joke.

Always love Roy’s food. The butterfish is great- my husband’s favorite. I had the salmon which was also tasty. Our grandson had the 12 oz steak and said it was awesome. We love Roy’s because they are good at making adjustments for food allergies. Their Chocolate soufflé is amazing.

We enjoyed our time at Roy’s. We were a little upset in the ambiance of the restaurant, White table clothes were missing, wait staff have definitely dressed down and the chairs were a bit worn and needing replaced. The food was excellent but the menu was quite limited. I know we are still in the middle of covid but having paper menus at a restaurant where you have 50$ entries isn’t ideal. Lilikoi martini was delicious and overall we enjoyed our visit! Thank you

Kabouche soup and wild boar Rangoon were superb. Blackened ahi tuna, meat loaf and crab cake entrees were outstanding- flavorful, hot and cooked to perfection! Chocolate soufflé was perfectly prepared and melted in your mouth with awesome dark chocolate filling. Mango sorbet was tart and flavorful. Pineapple upside down cake was underwhelming-two diners in our party of four came away with same review - cake tasted like a canned biscuit with bland tasting pineapple. Nothing special about it. Service overall was pretty good.

We trusted Roy's to make our Thanksgiving dinner extra special and we were not disappointed. Our only lament is that we couldn't order extra food to take home to treat as Thanksgiving leftovers.

The staff is also to be commended. It's harder than usual to find top-notch service at a restaurant these days, but whatever Roy's is doing -- keep doing it.

If you go, be sure to get the Wild Boar Rangoon appetizer.

Glad Roy’s is still here and our server was wonderful but the menu was limited and rushed and the restaurant is in dire need of a refresh. The chairs were literally falling apart and the tables are tippy and outdated. Just a small candle, dimmer lighting and a tablecloth would go miles! Food was mediocre.

We do not mind paying high prices for quality food and a great experience but, unfortunately, neither was the case last night at Roy’s. The food was fine, the service was fine but we’re not commensurate either the prices. The ambiance is antiquated and menu lacking diversity. We have been regular patrons of Roy’s for over a decade so are sad to see it like this.

Service could have been better, took a while to get first seen and seen the one who cleans off your table more then our server. Food menu needs to be reviewed: add more and remove some. The fish was salty. The ribs was blah. Crab cake was good. The list goes on. This has not fulfilled my expectations since I've been to many Roy's.

The service was great as usual. We’ve eaten at Roy’s at least once over the last 20+ years that we have been coming to the Big Island ( about 14 trips) and the ambiance has not really changed at all. Could use a new spin on it. Granted this is a different year (COVID) but the menu hasn’t changed all that much although the food was excellent. The cost is at a price point that the restaurant would be out of our range if we had younger children. We are now in our 70s and can enjoy such luxuries.

This is a very limited review. We went just for the chocolate soufflé dessert, a family tradition, and did not eat any other food. Unfortunately we realized they do not have any outdoor tables, and due to COVID we were not willing to eat inside. They did not suggest, but I asked, if we could get the souffles to go and they said yes (i had seen that online) so we got them to go and found tables a little further down in the center where we could sit outside and eat over the water. They said it would take about 30-45 minutes for the souffles, and they were pretty right on with the timing. They said they would call to tell us when the souffles were ready, but we were actually standing out front of the restaurant so they didn't call but just came out and handed them to us.
As always, the souflles were great, i seem to remember them having a molten chocolate center and these did not, it was "cake" all the way thru, but still great. You must get this with the ice cream, it adds to the experience.

We were not overwhelmed with the food the last time we ate here, pre covid, too expensive (what isn't in Hawaii) for what you get, and was just ok, not spectacular, but we may be remembering the early days when Roy's first opened on the various islands, so memory may created fantasies about the main dishes that just didn't survive reality, although we thought the ribs were good. But do enjoy the souffles so we just went for them and were very happy with them and glad we did.

Definitely the best meal of our trip! I was a bit skeptical going in as this is a chain, but I was very pleasantly surprised and excited by how great everything was. The food and drinks were interesting, delicious, and innovative; even our 21 month old had a great time/dinner. Everything was outstanding! Thank you!

Everything was great but the coffee tasted like very strong flavored tea. We tried to get the attention of our server but they were short staffed and he dropped off the check before I could say anything. The "coffee" was not on the check so I let it go. The delivery of the meal was slow because as I say they were short staffed, but the meal was excellent. We would go back again,

Your ten year anniversary should be a special meal. We made a reservation here weeks in advance because it was highly recommend. I made a note in my reservation twice that it was our 10 year anniversary and really didn’t expect anything but would have been nice to have been mentioned. Not only was it never mentioned but we had the worst service I’ve had in ages, maybe ever. Our meal took two hours and it wasn’t because it was some grand experience. We didn’t see our server for the first 10 minutes once he finally came I was told there was just the digital menu. He took our drink order but was busy so disappeared for another 5 minutes or so. He wasn’t a mean guy but clearly was way over his head and literally paid no attention to us at all. He also called me “big
guy” at least 20 times which I despise. The food was fine. It was flavorful and we enjoyed most of it. We ordered desert and it literally took over 30 minutes to arrive. Then getting our check was another 10. The entire meal was 2 hours and 5 minutes and my kids were exhausted. We had plans to do other stuff and that didn’t happen after this marathon. Overall it was incredibly disappointing and very expansive for terrible service and aging decor (each of our chairs were torn). I’ll do better for our 20 year anniversary…..
