The food is shockingly poor to mediocre. Very disappointing for a restaurant that used to be the standard in fusion cuisine. 8 of us dined and the best dish was the butterfish. The best drink was wine. It appears as though Roy needs to step back in to the kitchen.

Best part was the food itself. But everything else was fair to mediocre.

Roy's was a favorite years ago, but it was disappointing this time. There is no outdoor seating, which is usually expected in Hawaii restaurants. The decor was on a par with Dennys. The prices were high, $$$$. The wine list was poor. The server charged us for a beer that was not available. My ahi tuna was very good as was my husband's pork chop.. The salads were tasty but small for $20. We will not be back and do not recommend it.

We have dined at Roy’s in multiple locations over the past 25yrs. The restaurant isn’t a destination anymore. The food was mediocre and my husband ordered a Pina Colada and was informed that they didn’t have blenders. What is that about in Hawaii. Service was good. The restaurant is comparable to Chilis or Applebees in decor and furnishings. The last two times we’ve visited in Kaanapali and Waikoloa have been disappointing. Won’t be returning

My wife and I are full-time Big Island residents and dine at Roy's often. Roy's consistently offers both outstanding food and service. Last night, we sat next to a family with a 6 year boy. He had just finished eating the wonderful keiki menu. I asked him for a review. He gave his meal two very big thumbs up! Roy's is certainly one of the Big Island's best kid friendly fine dining restaurants.

Although I liked the view and location, I didn’t think this Roy’s lwas up to par as the others I've dined at. I got a text telling me my table was ready but when I got there on time, my table wasn’t ready and I had to wait 10 min to be seated. The hostess seemed to have trouble with the seating and I have no idea why. The waiter took a long time to get to our table and take our order and he talked too much about the menu and food. The drinks took a long time and so did the food. The food itself was either hit or miss. The scallops were good but the hulihuli chicken was horrible and barely cooked through. The middle of the chicken was a bit rubbery from being undercooked and the kids teriyaki chicken had some kind of butter on it which my son didn’t like. They don’t put that on the same kids meal at koolina. My drink tasted like medicine and was so strong that I couldn’t finish it. This is definitely not the type of standard I’m used to from a Roy’s restaurant. I’ve eaten at other locations and everything was very good. I wouldn’t recommend this one.

Good food, the wait stuff tried hard and was friendly but the kitchen took an hour to bring the main entrees. Kitchen and staff must have been way overworked and very understaffed.
