Great 64th Birthday!!!
We had an extraordinary meal last night at Roy's. Everything from the moment we walked in to the last bite of our wonderful dessert. Nicole was wonderful, guiding us through our beautiful culinary adventure. On the way back to our resort last night we made reservations at Roy's to celebrate our last night on the Big Island.
Everything about our meal was outstanding. From the drinks to ahi poke nachos to misoyaki butterfish to the chocolate soufflé.. Delicious!! We went to Eating House 1849 on Kauai and had to come to Roy’s!
Macadamia nut crusted mahi-mahi…best…fish…ever!
We were celebrating our 27th anniversary which was indicated on our open table reservation. It was not acknowledged in anyway. The wedge was extremely overdressed. We also had the steamed opakapaka and Dynamite Opa. Everything we ate was too salty. Based on the food, we decided to forgo dessert. Very disappointed to have celebrated our anniversary here.
Wonderful location, excellent food (try the wild boar appetizer), and great service. Our best meal on the island.
Service was excellent. Food quality exceptional would go back bigly
Chicken egg rolls not good. Meatloaf used to be delicious in years past. Just ok now. Place needs an update. Boring decor.
Dynamite Crab Encrusted Ono--freshest, tastiest fish I've had ever. Sides--Brussels sprouts and Yukon Gold mashed potatoes--Fantastic! Same with onion rings. Waited a year to get back to Roy's--worth the wait!
We had a lovely dinner at Roy's. The food and service was fantastic and the views of the lake were beautiful.
We frequent restaurants from casual to fine dining. We don’t usually do chain restaurants, but was convinced otherwise to give this location a try. We came towards the end of the night was greeted immediately and kindly. We quickly recognized the expediency of service was due to our reservation in relation to closing time. We felt rushed throughout our dinner, a steak dish my brother ordered was not adequately cooked(He’s a chef at a very popular restaurant in LA). We sent it back and ordered a different dish that was better. It was made known that our dinner was due to an anniversary, but that occasion was not acknowledged. Overall we were very disappointed with our experience.
Last night on the Island celebration. The food was outstanding, the service was attentive. It could not have been better.
Food was mediocre especially for the price. Would not go back again
Outstanding dinner, excellent service, and a fabulous view of the Golf Course and Pond.
We went for our anniversary based on reputation. The food was just ok but I was quite disappointed with the state of the place. The chairs are peeling and the carpet is absolutely disgusting. They walked us down to a nice table by the lake…right past a huge stain, and seated us on cracked faux leather chairs. Peeling! Honestly the food is promising but I just couldn’t get past how run down it is. For what they charge (and it’s fair for an upscale restaurant) it is not up to par.
Celebrated our anniversary with dinner at Roy's. Although the restaurant is in a shopping center, the atmosphere is nice. We got a window seat overlooking a lake. Service was friendly & attentive. Tables were well spread out & all staff we saw were masked. Had a few cocktails. I tried the Kohala Gold which was surprisingly strong for a restaurant drink. They bring complimentary edamame, which had some kind of oil & seasoning on it. I loved it...could've eaten the whole bowl myself. Hubby ordered a wedge salad. It was good, but slightly overdressed. Hubby had the meatloaf which was super flavorful & a huge portion. Sides were on point as well, although he said he could've done without the onion rings. I had the mix grill. The short ribs were fall apart tender & very flavorful. The shrimp were large & had a tasty, tangy tomato based sauce. The potatoes gratin were just OK for me, not quite my taste. Both dishes were presented beautifully. We finished off the evening with Roy's signature chocolate souffle (which we ordered earlier because it takes longer). It was perfection. Chewy, crisp on the outside & gooey chocolate goodness on the inside with the perfect accompaniment of vanilla ice cream. They even decorated the plate & comped our dessert. We would definitely come here again.
My husband and I were vacationing on the Big Island and made reservations fir dinner at Roy’s. We’ve been to Roy’s on other islands as well as at home in California and we’ve always enjoyed our meals. Well Roy’s did not disappoint. We were able to get a table looking at the lake so that made for a nice ambience. Our meal started with complimentary edamame seasoned with sesame oil and sea salt. Very tasty! Our entrees of choice were the surf and turf and the opakapaka. Both were prepared perfectly and was delicious !we ended our meal with some kona coffee ice cream. Perfect evening!
Roy's was recommended to us from friends who had been here previously, from the Mainland.
It met our expectations, beginning with Courtney, who was very attentive to our needs through out our meal.
Thank you Courtney!

You really cannot go wrong with Roy’s. Upper scale dining that is always consistent, from the food to the service. Had the miso butterfish, always good but find it too saucy at times. The Hawaiian martini and the me soufflé though…on point. Highly recommended.
My wife is allergic to mushrooms and we let the restaurant know upon our arrival. We also asked our server to confirm that the spring rolls we were ordering did not have mushrooms. He confirmed with the kitchen that they were mushroom free. So my wife had a bite of the spring rolls and immediately discovered they did indeed include mushrooms. Thankfully my wife is okay, but I had to run across the street and buy Benedryl and she was miserable all night. When pressed further, our server says he asked the wrong person. They brought us a different appetizer and the guy who brought it out was joking around saying this one "has extra mushrooms." It's a shame because this is a safety issue and a restaurant charging prices like they do should be much more attentive. Needless to say, it ruined our dinner. The actual food was sub-par for the prices they charged. Even without the mushroom debacle, I would not go back.
Drinks were good, rice was good, service good but vegetables with blackened ahi were not good and we’re chewy.
Poor service, outdated accommodations, Opa dish way overcooked!!! What a disappointment. Went to Roy’s in Oahu many years ago and had an amazing dining experience. Waikoloa location was huge let down!!!
Inattentive, slow service. Under cooked raw fish. Mediocre food at high prices. Staff was friendly.
,our entree was extremely late to us. We were a table f 3 and were there almost 3 hours.
We celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary at Roy’s we enjoyed the macadamia nut crusted Opah & Butterfish. Both were prepared to perfection & were delicious! We were surprised with chocolate molten cake & ice cream to celebrate our anniversary. The wine list offered several great choices & our server was very knowledgeable in guiding our selection. Our only disappointment was that they were not serving the spicy tuna roll sushi that was a staple for many years….Covid has disputed that for now but hopefully it will return to the menu.
I highly recommend Roy’s for a special occasion or ‘just because’….you won’t be disappointed!
Celebrated my husbands bday and everything was great! Roys never disappoints
We love Roy’s, we go there once or twice every time we come to the Island. Everybody is always so friendly, the food is delicious, the service is great and Brandon is the best.
Not what we expected built on a name felt like it was a get you in and out quickly not a sit down relax and enjoy restaurant
The food was very good! The service was as well. However, our reservation was for 4:30. We rushed to get there on time. The door wasn’t unlocked/opened until 4:45
Their desserts are great, the rest of the food was a little bland and overpriced. Our server was wonderful but other staff were more interested in watching sports on the TV screens at the bar. The decor needs work, the lighting was awful and carpet was worn. Overall a decent option within the King's Shops area. Disappointed they had no outdoor option during the pandemic.
Food was good, but my entree wasn’t very hot. My husband initially received the incorrect order, but our server made it right and identified a mismatch between the QR code menu and what the chefs see when preparing the food.
The waiter could have cared less about us or our evening this is the worst dinner we have had on the island I am extremely disappointed as I have always one to Maui Roy’s and totally loved it it was elegant and service impeccable this however was a disgrace to the Roy name
The Peppercorn Crusted Island Ahi was much better than the Roy’s Blackened Ahi. The Spring Rolls were good and the Chocolate Soufflé was excellent!
Our server Stephanie, I think, was excellent as well and made our dinner very enjoyable.

Great food, as always. Misoyski butterfish and Surf & Turf. Great cocktails (Hawaiian Martinis). VERY noisy and we were seated in a very high traffic area - too crowded for indoor dining with rising Covid cases. Recommend outdoor dining options (or places with more space) until things settle down, but make your own choices.
We are huge Roy’s fans (I have a drawer full of T-shirts from different Roy’s around the country) and have had wonderful meal experiences at this restaurant before. On this visit, we were disappointed. The lights were up and the tables were bare, creating a stark, cavernous feeling instead the intimate cool vibe we were used to. The menu was a far cry from the selection we have come to know in the past, with more diner (meatloaf?) and less pan-Asian selections. The food we ordered was good, but not particularly memorable, however our server was very good and did her best to give us a good experience. We had planned a second trip back to Roy’s later during this visit but I have cancelled that reservation and we will give somewhere else a try this trip. We sincerely hope you get your mojo back!
Food is good but pretty pricey.
Not what I was expecting based on previous visits to Roy's.
Overrated dining experience. Food under seasoned and menu very limited with uninspired sides to accompany main entree. Understanding Covid can influence staffing for service our waiter was not able to give the attention deserved for the prices reflected on menu. Prices high, service low means customer loses and not likely to return.
Excellent as usual
Food excellent. Boar rangoons were of note. My husband ordered the 10 oz Waygu + Lobster (5 stars) and I ordered the crusted MahiMahi-Our server was less than interested, and ignored us for the most part. Brandon - a sous chef I think -made up for it with professional and outstanding customer service at the end of our visit.
