Roy's Tampa Ratings and Reviews
First time eating at Roy’s and had a great dining experience. Waiter was very attentive and steered us towards some of his favorite dishes that did not disappoint! Appetizers, food, and dessert each came out fast and hot. Also would say the jalapeño margarita was probably the best I’ve ever had!
Little pricey, but certainly worth it for a nice date night out.
This was our first time here and we had a great experience. Our server was very attentive and took wonderful care of us throughout our dining experience. We had the boat for 2 as an appetizer so we could sample a few things and everything on it was delicious! I got the trio for a main course and hands down the Alaskan black cod or “butterfish” was the best, if we go back, I would definitely get that on its own instead or the trio! Overall, we loved it and will likely be back soon!
Tonight was one of the best dining experiences that you could ever have. The New York strip steak was perfect and Keith our waiter was absolutely superb. The noise level was lower tonight which added to our perfect experience unlike other times it was too noisy of a restaurant for my liking.
Service was-slow starting out but got better although wife ran out of water twice. Food was good, fixed menu choices on Valentines Day so the place was busy. The only thing that was upsetting was I had a gift card, I didn’t realize it expired 5 days prior to using but I made the reservation well within the period allowed, and the server came to us and said Manager said no, then went on to tell me about the President of the Company instructing them not to accept.
Oh well we go to Roys 4-5 times a year sometimes with 6 of us, Will probly spend my hard earned $ somewhere else, there are lots of choices in Tampa.
I cannot recommend it his restaurant. It was our first ( and last) time at Roy’s. Although the restaurant is tastefully appointed and the server was personable and on top of things, the food was terrible- and outrageously expensive. There were four of us ( two of us don’t drink alcohol at all, the others in our party had 2 drinks now each - no wine with dinner. Three people had an appetizer and only two had dessert. So with that scenario ( and nothing no extraordinary as main courses) to wind up with a $400 bill ( which did include a 20% gratuity) would only have been worth it if the food was good. It was not
Service was absolutely great but food was only average. Not really even comparable to the Hawaii restaurant. Salmon was overcooked, Butterfish was fishy (but the staff took care of that immediately) and Tuna was just Ok. Lots of overpowering sauces used on all fish entrees.
Food and service was great as usual and as expected. Didn't really like the table I got this time. It was behind the hostess stand and adjacent to the front door. A little busier and noisier than I would have liked. I'm generally seated in the rear of the restaurant by the wine cellar or in the booths along the side wall. Service made up for it though. Keith is an exceptional server and was on point throughout the night.
Weve known about Roy’s for many years and we are now disappointed that we didn’t come and try this restaurant sooner! We went for my husbands birthday dinner and it was perfect, quiet evening, beautiful ambience and very attentive service without being intrusive or rushed. The food was fantastic and our server Kyle was knowledgeable on the menu and gave great reccomendations. We found our new spot in Roys. Thanks :)
We made a reservation on Open Table for our 35th wedding anniversary. Arrived about 5 minutes late (we'd called ahead to say we were running a little late) and it took 15 minutes to seat us. In a remote corner of the restaurant. Away from the main dining room. Several requests to be re-seated were unsuccessful. Ordered prime filet from the Sunday-Monday special 3 course menu, along with desserts we were told took 20 minutes to prepare, so the desert orders went in with the entrée orders. 25 minutes later the first courses arrived. 45 minutes later the main courses arrived. By the time we hit the two hour mark, the desserts hadn't arrived, so I asked our server to bring me a check and to forget the desserts. Those steaks were excellent as were the starter items. But the service was sooo slow that the manager wound up comping the whole meal by way of apology. That was a very nice gesture, gratefully accepted. But don't think we'll go back
We were seated in a small room with a boisterous group who had complete disregard of the other guests around them.
When we complained, the manager tried to compensate by subracting $30 from our total bill of $240. We graciously decline this offer, told them we didnt go there to get freebies; but that we will probably not go back there again since we think they were very insensitive to the comfort of other guests as long as they can cater to a big party.
Restaurant has gone down hill. Won’t be surprised when it closes. Poor service, disorganized , lack of customer attention. I mean really 2hrs at Roy’s for dinner is just crazy for 2 people. Really a shame. This place used to be amazing. It’s been a few mos since we dined here because al of the above was experienced then as well. Tried again and Honestly it was worse!!!
The entire experience was fabulous! We sat at the bar before dinner and had a couple of drinks as well as the lobster potstickers and shrimp mango roll (Enu?). The drinks, food and bartenders were fabulous! We then went to the dining room for dinner. My husband had the filet and lobster tail. The flavor was amazing! The portion size was perfect. I had the lobster, shrimp and scallop trio with rice and bok choy. It too was amazing. The dining staff was wonderful! Thank you for a fabulous night! My husband an I have not been out on a date together in about a year!!!! I will be back for my birthday dinner next month!!
