One of the best yakitori places! Everything we ordered was delicious! Fun energy and attentive service - we will be back for more!
My friends and I have ordered from Robata Jinya plenty of times for dinner delivery and never been disappointed (food comes well-packaged, flavors are on-point, overall delicious). This was our first time going to the restaurant in person, and unfortunately we will not be coming back and instead stick to ordering. We ordered a lot of favorites - and were served old meat (the foie grois was particularly unappetizing), sashimi that was poorly cut and not fresh, very undercooked miso eggplant that had little flavor, the list goes on. The service was also not exactly on par for the night either. It was just disappointing overall - especially given how much we enjoy delivery from Robata.
Love the food and enjoy seating on the patio. I come here about once a month and have always enjoyed the food. One complaint is that the owner insists on playing loud music all the time and it makes it difficult to talk. Patio is quieter, but still too annoyingly loud. The food is good enough to put up with the noise, but would go more often if quieter.
The food and service are always constantly good. I eat here a lot, and the shrimp toast is incredible.
Brought my boyfriend here for his birthday, it was our first time coming to Robaya Jinya, & my first time trying Japanese cuisine. The food was delicious, creative, and fresh! Each small plate was timed perfectly in between one another, we were able to try many items on the menu. Our server Bobby was extremely professional, friendly, and very helpful in guiding us through the menu. He was very knowledgeable of the menu items. My boyfriend said this was by far his favorite birthday dinner thus far!
More expensive and less value on the menu. Portions smaller, price higher. I suppose it's the pressure of rising costs. That will end with the next recession and the birth of lower cost alternatives. Used to be our favorite sushi place.
It’s great. I love this place I wish the music was softer and that they would bring back some of the old dishes
Great as always
Come here relatively often, and every time is better than the last. Inventive dishes, delicious food, and super friendly and accommodating staff. (I always opt for the counter seating so I can see the sushi chefs working away!)
My wife and I came to Robata Jinya for their Ramen. The Creamy Vegan Ramen. We love it! But every time we come we also find awesome appetizers. The edamame is awesome, subtle spice and the right amount of Garlic. And their skewers are very good. We've had the pork belly, salmon, and chicken skewers and they are all great. And come with a nice trio of dipping sauces. A cilantro lime of some sort, a spicy option, and a wasabi like sauce. All choice. I've already recommended family to this place.
Excellent food, nice ambience and very good service. Highly recommended!
This is my second experience here.
1st Time was very horrible so we didn’t come back almost 1 year.
The server was not bad but when we open Sake bottle she didn’t even open the cap.
So we cut our hand cuz of cap.
This is so sad no one educate to open the bottle for customers?
We won’t sue them but they supposed to change it immediately.
We’ve dined here several times- it’s now a go-to for us!
This place is always great! I recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to have fun
And enjoy delicious food.
Very favorable past experience was reason to come again. Menu change left off our favourite items of the past. We were disapointed.
Best izakaya in Los Angeles. Great value from 5-7.
Vegan raman is alone worth the trip. Great service from a lovely staff that welcomes you and makes you feel at home.
Great food and excellent service
Must try: Foie Gras as appetizer. Crispy sweet rice sushi rice topped with Foie gras - simply amazing.
Robata was certainly one of the best Sushi places in LA for a long time. We used to go at least twice a week. However, since last year, something has changed. Every time we go, we say never again. We stopped going for 6 months, and we heard it's got better again. This time we tried it and it was just OKAY, nothing like last year but not disastrous either (like few months ago)
Robata is no longer the same as it used to be.
I prolly won’t go back but it’s good to try I liked the ambiance and service .. very clean and organized nice decoration
This is the second time I have been to Robata Jinya and once again I was not disappointed. My teenage son is not easily impressed and the food blew him away. The small plates are so delicious and great for sharing. The Miso Black Cod is to die for! The Salmon with Mushroom Truffle sauce is also a favorite. The bite sized portions on skewers means you can try a wide variety of dishes and not get too full. Make a reservation because they are always busy. Once you order, the food comes quickly one dish after the other. The seating inside is a little too tight for my liking so I like to dine on the patio and it has heat lamps.
Great server, every runner was cordial. Every course brought out was better than the last.
The yakitori is some of the best in town. The restaurant is low key with a hip and sexy vibe. They do not have a full bar, but we tried their lychee martinis and they were great. My favorite dishes of the night were the salmon belly and the steak and garlic. They also had a fish belly sampler that was to die for. Everything we tried was spot on. Our server was quick and professional.
Excellent Japanese food in a casual atmosphere. An "izakaya".
We had Bobby as server. He took too long to place our order. We told him immediately what we wanted by I guess he was overextended. We definitely showed up before the rush. My kid’s child friendly meal should have come out first. It didn’t. My child requested noodles in her soup because this is the way your studio city location presents its children’s soup and this is what she knows. Bobby was nice enough to honor that request but everything came out waaayy too late.
Excellent service and ambience. Food was amazing! Pick a great spot at the bar and watch the chefs making the sushi!
It was alright. To be fair, it was Sunday - not the best day for sushi, because the fish is not straight from the market - BUT it was the beef dish that was inedible. The whole experience was underwhelming.
Service was erratic and our last order never arrived, but we still love the place.
Love the food , didn’t enjoy sitting under a loud speaker. My kids ears were ringing. Love the energy tho.
Food is one of the best in LA. And happy hour is the best value
Great good stuff
We dine a lot and we like the place. It was the worst service the other day. We were waiting on the dish and asked the waiter for the status. He came back to us saying the chef says it already should be served, Did you really not having it.
He made us feel like we are telling the lie or something.
The service was good but the food was OUTSTANDING!!!
The Shrimp Toast, Brussels Sprouts Tempura and a lot of other dishes just to name a few. Delicious...
I have visited this restaurant in the past. I have to say I liked to old menu better with fresh vegetables and special meals. This time it was OK. I like the variety of the skewered proteins they have but I wish it was marinated better.
Robata Jinya was one of my go-to izakaya places on the westside. Consistent high-quality skewers, creative Asian fusion cuisine and a good selection of drinks. I tried the lobster ramen for the first time and the whole group liked it. It was seasoned slightly strong to my taste but everyone else appreciated the flavorfulness.
My favorite dishes were garlic edamame, grilled corn, and miso cod.
Not quite sure why this restaurant gets top reviews as our experience was totally average. As a frequent traveler to Japan, I'm quite familiar with good robata and izakaya and this fell short. The warm tofu was very nice served table side as was the garlic edamame. The robata was okay nothing special. It was a cool night and the windows were left wide open which meant the restaurant was chilly and food that was meant to be eaten warm or hot got cold really quickly. A yuzutini we ordered had cucumbers and some pepper flakes in it and did not taste of yuzu at all. When we pointed out that yuzu was a citrus, we were told "that's how we make our yuzutini here". Expected much more.
My sister and I went last night for my birthday. The crossing bread pudding was pretty good. The fat from the chashu melted in our mouths and had a nice char on it. Our favorite was the beef tongue which was served on a flaming rock.
Personally I didn’t think the fois gras skewer was worth the price. I think I just prefer it like a pate. The wagyu beef was delicious.
Great experience Toro sashimi and sushi simply perfect
The food was really tasteful and well served.
