About
We waited 45 minutes to be sat at our table and they should have comp’d us with a drink or something and they didn’t! Not cool!😡
Date night on a CU move-in weekend - we expected to need earplugs but surprisingly were seated at a quiet corner booth! Perfect for conversation so quite the treat. Food was good - I ordered the steak fajitas - meat was in very large thick slices - would have preferred thinner slices but overall a good date night!
Our server Murph was fantastic! Sat upstairs on the rooftop patio, food and drinks were great!
Always a great place to meet with family for a nicely prepared meal.
Always a favorite for us when we are in town and it never disappoints
Table and view were excellent, service was good, not great, food was not worth the price nor were the drinks (margaritas were smaller servings than we are accustomed to), and the bowl of chips was a mini-bowl, so with four at the table, you each got two chips before the bowl was empty. Don't take my word for it, we are from Houston originally and it is hard for us to find Mexican food we like outside of there. It did not help that we sat next to two obnoxiously loud parties that were doing shots, cussing at the top of their lungs and just making a ton of racket. I am glad it was the rooftop! I would go back there again just to sit on the roof, it is a beautiful setting. I was warned that the food was not the best part of the experience
love the roof top deck and so thankful they are still open with the pandemic....great food and atmosphere!
My girlfriend and her daughter were treated very poorly at the fron door. They told the hostess that they were meeting me and that I was already inside at my table. As they proceeded to walk inside the hostess rudely told them to go back outside and wait unti someone escorts them inside. Not only was it 97 degrees outside and in the direct sun, but they already told her I was at my table in the corner and could go there directly.
We sat in the corner table and were inundated with flies the entire time. Flies, really ? in a restaurant ?
It was pretty sad.
It was our sons 22nd birthday and The Rio is a perfect spot for that age group! We had a party of 6 so very affordable as well. Caylin totally deserves a big fat raise if you ask us! She was the bartender for the entire restaurant because several people did not show, plus she waited on us! Never did she falter nor remove her smile and kind upbeat attitude!!! We cannot give her enough praise!
It’s a good spot. Mostly upset that I reserved a table, showed up 15 mins early, and they still sat us at the bar. Not sure if that’s on Rio Grande or Opentable.
The Rio Grande has always been a favorite of mine , but now I love it more than ever. It is the best Boulder dining experience in the COVID era. The Rio has lots of room to spread out including the roof deck which is awesome.
Drinks were horrible. Tried different margaritas and all were yucky. Tasted like gasoline. Tacos were cold. Waiter was okay. Had to ask/beg for everything-from napkins to salt. We were placed outside on roof which should have been awesome considering the COVID. Table from across the rooftop (large group) moved themselves and sat right next to us taking up two neighboring tables and the whole time they were jumping around hugging the waitress of their table who was wearing a tank top and no bra while serving. And up and down the entire time... very loud and NOT practicing social distancing which made us all uncomfortable. Nit sure what they all were doing... I’m all for having a good time but there was zero regard to anyone around them.
Food arrived and it was cold... the chips that came to the table were even cold and for four people we were given a condiment sized serving of salsa... which actually was fresh and good. Not sure why they ration it? So between the blasé attitude of the staff, and chef’s lack of attention to putting out decent food... we will definitely find another rooftop and not be back. Only leaving this to spare someone else the trouble of going there and maybe management will kick it up a notch.... BTW... a manager did offer to remake the tacos but we had been there long enough and didn’t see any reason for a do-over because it was sooo bad.
The Rio has always been one of my favorite places to dine and socialize with friends. We had wonderful service....he was friendly, attentive, professional, and very personable. The meals were excellent! I am impressed with the format The Rio has established during Covid 19. It will be a little more difficult once winter settles in (ugh) and outdoor seating is no longer available. Great place to eat!
Roof top patio is a great place to enjoy being around other people, being in the center of Boulder while also having a view of the Flatirons. Our waitress, Katie, was very accomodating!
The food was ok, but the location and atmosphere were fantastic.
Cory was the best server!! We had a great time celebrating my friend's 28th bday!!
We had a great meal - love all of the outdoor spaces and our waiter, Murph was awesome!
Average place, drinks taste good
Bright lights that shine into your eyes, food that has no flavor, and average service
Always a favorite when my daughter comes in town to visit.
Excellent food, drinks, service and atmosphere. Can't wait to go back.
Great ambiance. Loud neighbors and cold food. Margaritas were great tho
Good no issues, always go, regular customers! Like the less crowds.
This was a relatively early lunch reservation. Clearly the kitchen was slow in getting ready. Our waitress who was great, kept checking on our order, finally it showed up. We are regular Rio patrons and will continue to recommend it.
The service here was atrocious - requests either took forever or were ignored altogether. 2/4 of our party thought the food was ‘okay’, while the other two very much disliked it. What gets me the most about the service is that they weren’t even busy - there may have been four other tables/parties in the whole restaurant.
Food does not disappoint and dining outdoors was great! Friendly staff and great margs, too.
Had a wonderful meal. The service is great and the ambiance is very nice! I felt very safe and comfortable at this restaurant, they are doing a wonderful job keeping everything clean, safe, and friendly!
25 anniversary, its where we had our first date 1992!
The Rio was great, as usual and our server was outstanding.
The tacos are EXTREMELY SMALL - I've never seen tortillas that tiny!
Unfortunately, and unavoidably the ambience suffered from the current pandemic situation. On the other hand, this was a much more enjoyable experience than being limited to take-out.
We'll be back!
The rooftop was awesome. All the staff was very attentive. Only negative was ordering a cheese-free vegetable quesadilla and the waiter seemed offended. I have ordered this for years and he was the first to say, hmmm maybe you should order something else, this might be difficult for our kitchen staff.
Great margaritas and the tacos were delish! Sat outside with our pup - next time we want to check out the roof!
A fun place for drinks, great rooftop atmosphere, but the food was a bit bland and overpriced. Not horrible, just meh, though we liked the complimentary chips and salsa. The service was great up until we were seated, where we pretty much had to ask for everything (chips refills, we were left waterless on a hot day for a long time, and had we not flagged the waiter down we might never had enough water). Definitely felt like an afterthought or inconvenience for the waiter with every interraction. Not the end of the world and I get these things happen. Overall it was an average experience, and I suspect best for Happy Hour drinks.
Great lunch with a beautiful view from the rooftop patio!
Service was slow, took a while to get refills on chips and salsa. Had a dirty water glass, took 15 minutes to get a clean one.
Second time I’ve been since reopening up, service not as good as it was pre Covid. I’m a long time customer but service suffering right now!!
Great drinks and great atmosphere
Service was good, staff was friendly, food is always good - We brought friends to the restaurant and I had made a special request for a table - They put 7 of us in a triangle shaped both in the back corner of the bar by the door to a service area- very disappointing
Rio is always a favorite! I was there to celebrate my best friend's birthday. I requested the rooftop and go it! Thanks, Rio of Boulder!
Best Marg on the planet (rocks salt). The Rio never disappoints
Customer service is very organized and service pretty quick.
LOVE this place and so happy to be able to return...great food, great service, best margs/chips/salsa anywhere! And we *really* appreciate that they take this covid stuff seriously. We'll be back at least weekly!
