I had the shrimp in peppers and the stuffed peppers - both mega delicious. My partner ordered the fish which he hated. They took it back with no issue and profusely apologized - didn’t charge us for it. He ordered the fundido instead which he loved. This is actually one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the country (incl. SF, NY and Chicago). It’s a really well run restaurant with very pleasant people working there - every time we go! One complaint: their margaritas are just terrible.
The salsa negra alone will get me back there. Menu has traditional options as well as unique options. The staff is amazing, especially Rosie. Highly recommend
They were closed. I arranged dinner for myself and out of town guests and they were closed. Closed! Did I mention they were closed?
Excellent meal and service, even though they were short staffed, the staff there did an excellent job!
A long time favorite. They were not checking vaccination status. We will not be back. We prefer a restaurant who cares about the customer’s well-being.
Amazing as always! Dani and the crew always create a fun dinning experience!
Terrible service. We waited over an hour to get our 1st drinks and food ordered. By the time the food arrived it was 1 hour and 48 minutes from when we sat down. The waitress was rude and the manager/owner never stopped by to check on us or tell us why it was taking so long. Skip this place if you have another option.
Delicious food and generous margaritas
Checked vaccination status.
As the waitress took our cocktail order, I requested separate checks; she said that she couldn't do that but, she could take three credit cards.
When our bill arrived, one of the other diners in our party told each of us what our share was, estimating sales tax.
As the other 2 diners handed their credit card to the waitress, each said how much was her share. When I gave my credit card, I said $32 was my share but, the waitress said, "I'll put the rest on this card."
After some delay, the waitress advised me that they don't take Discover card. I have had a Discover card since 1986 and remember how I always had to carry another credit card because Discover wasn't accepted everywhere but, I haven't experienced that in years. I provided another card.
After more delay, I received a text from my credit card carrier that $63.54 had been charged to my card. Since that amount was within pennies of one of the other diner's share, when the waitress returned with our cards, we told her that she had mixed up two of us.
Sometime later, I received another text from my credit card carrier that $53.54 had been charged to my card. When the waitress finally returned with our cards, I asked to see the detailed bill.
Sure enough, our waitress had included 2 entrees from another table on our check. When I pointed this out to her, she said that she had to catch up with her other tables and would get back to us soon.
After an even longer delay, I received a text that $32 had been charged to my card.
For each of us in our party, this was like two trips; our first and our last!
Great food and drinks
Great service, great service and awesome food. All over a great place and great people.
Great food and service. Highly recommend!
This is the best Mexican restaurant in Palm Springs. We are so glad they are still here after the PS city council tried to crush business using Covid as an excuse. Hard working family-owned business deserve our love. ❤️❤️
Great food and fast service. Awesome margaritas.
Again, you can’t go wrong by going to Rio Azul! The food is fantastic & the service is even better. We always have a great time here. Ate too much, but that’s our only complaint.
The chips and salsa were delicious and my mum and I enjoyed our meals. The servers were nice and attentive and we had fun joking with them. Thank you!
Great all around. Delicious food. Order a Cadillac margarita.
Margaritas were delicious and a great value! The service is also really good, very attentive.
Raised prices online but handed out in-person menus with lower prices and demanded we pay the online price that was higher. The rudeness and arrogance of the waitress was amazing. And the prices they are charging for mediocre Mexican food at best is pretty amazing, whether it's their online or in-person menu.
Great had a great time
Reservations were not being done in order, waited 30 minutes to get seated and 30 minutes to order, upon asking for chips bus boy stated we would have to pay for chips we had no problem with that however, waitress stated when we never received and asked again that chips were free, we wanted something to munch on until we were able to get service to order, restaurant was short staff ambiance felt a little chaotic
Decent Mexican food off of the main strip in Palm Springs.
We ordered the chicken fajitas for two and that was plentiful.
Another delicious meal at Rio Azul! Wonderful service provided by Adela. This is becoming our new hangout & we couldn’t be happier. I recommend the enchiladas Del Mar. Amazing!
Food was really delicious. It was a bit warm in the restaurant. We needed more air.
Service was excellant.
Really excellent food
This use to be my husband and I favorite spot for Mexican food. In one visit, that quickly changed. He ordered an enchilada plate, while I stuck with tacos. Neither had any flavor at all! I had to put salt IN MY TACOS to make them edible. Im not sure if it’s under new management, if they have new cooks or they are just trying to get back into the swing of things, post Covid but fix it please! I’d hate to jump ship and find another place to patronize, but I won’t continuously go somewhere where they can’t even provide me fresh chips and good salsa. I’ll try to give them one more chance but that’s it!
The food puts Rio Azul in the top 5 mexican cuisine restaurants in Palm Springs.
We love to sit in the bar area, but it’s great anywhere in the restaurant. The staff is all so amazingly friendly & the food is delish! One of the best of PS!
Rio Azul is reliable American style Mexican food. Not overly remarkable, but not bad by any means. Good place when you are in the mood for a cold Margarita and your favorite Mexican dish. Service is good, but again, not remarkable. They used to have live music, but that ended during the pandemic. Hope they can justify bringing it back soon.
Service was awesome! Very nice, attentive and helpful. Thanksb
Delicious meal, we loved the guacamole and fish tacos.
Always a great choice. We keep coming back for the excellent food and service.
The server forgot to take our food order for 20 mins. No apologies, poor service.
Love this place so much have been numerous times. Food is Very on Point, Drinks are great, atmosphere is laid back and comfortable
The ambiance and service was lovely. the food was delicious with hearty portions. Don't know what you want? The staff always provides helpful suggestions.
The food was delicious very satisfied!😎
You can not go wrong with Rio Azul! All of the staff is amazing & the food is fantastic! Get the Skinny Margarita (large) with regular salt & any entree. You can’t go wrong.
I highly recommend this restaurant for friends, a casual date, and families. An appetizer, 2 meals, 1 dessert, 2 beverages was $62 before tip. Our waitress was cheerful, sweet, and made a good dinner even more enjoyable. I wish I knew her name—very petite with dark hair, but everyone seems very nice. The hot tortilla chips with spicy salsa, ceviche appetizer, fish tacos and steak fajitas were very filling and delicious. When we did not want flan or fried ice cream, our cute waitress surprised us with an ice cream sundae custom-made for two! She was great! Go hungry. Might be best to have a reservation once times get back into full swing.
Past experience had always been wonderful. Wonderful food, drinks and music. This last time was the worst experience ever. The place must not have air conditioning as the temperature was almost unbearable and muggy. The waiter had to be reminded about items that were not provided with the meal when the waiter bothered to come to our table. It appeared that he was the only one taking orders from all the customers even though there were other workers walking around. The floor manager was of no help at all, simply watching like a hawk for any customer that was ready to leave the restaurant. The most distressing part was that we come to a Mexican restaurant for Mexican music to enjoy the atmosphere. We asked for the music to be changed from the techno/rap 3 times and never was the music changed. This will be the last time we frequent that establishment. They have lost that special connection that they once had with customer service.
Always great service from Rosie. No better carnitas in PS!
