Amazing food and service. Could use some decorative updating as it is a bit dated inside, but that does not impact the experience enough to really matter. Go and enjoy!
We are from out of town and looked to Tripadvisor to find a good local restaurant nearby. We reserved using Opentable and upon arriving were seated immediately. My wife loved that we had found a restaurant with white cloth tableclothes! Service was excellent as was the food. We'll be back!
Amazing. Love the courtyard and live music!!
We celebrated our anniversary and it was wonderful! Our server, Percel, made our night memorable. He was terrific, so friendly and down to earth. The food was fabulous and enjoyable environment. Thanks for making our date night so great!
David was the perfect waiter. Loved everything, the chicken dish was so soooo good!!!
We are from Atlanta and were in Raleigh for business and a friend suggested Rey's. Wow! We can't remember the last time we had such a fabulous meal AND service. The lobster macaroni and cheese was delicious with large chunks of meat and the grouper with lemon butter sauce was perfect. Our server was David and he was the best we've had in a long time. He was friendly, helpful and professional. His attention to detail was impeccable and he was personable and had a great sense of humor. And the bananas foster he made at our table was to die for. Mr. Rey was also there and stopped by to say hi and as we left he thanked us at the door and was warm and welcoming. This was a perfect night out and we will definitely come again when next we visit Raleigh.
A wonderful night out.
Our reservation time was honored with a smile and welcome.
Our waiter was spot on. Around just enough to take care of things, gone just enough so we didn't feel he was hovering.
Waitstaff worked like a fine tuned, well oiled machine. Bus boys (remember those guys) we ready at the correct times with water refills, and clearing. They all look busy with a purpose without looking rushed in the least bit.
The owner and maitre'd made their rounds appropriately, to make sure everything was going well.
Now, the food. Wow.
Everything was cooked to perfection, the lamb was seasoned just right. I could taste the lamb as it was not swimming in any sauce or gravies. delightful.
Deserts were tasty, and just the right size.
On driving home, we were all lamenting that it took so long to finally get to this restaurant. We will definitely be back.
Since this was an anniversary I had asked for flowers to be at the table. They were not, seems they were scrambling to get us seated when we walked in, obviously OpenTable never communicated my needs to the place.
We ordered Spinach Salad with dressing. The dressing for this special salad was supposed to be warm. It was cold and the salad greens were a little brown in spots.
Steaks,- I ordered the rib-eye, the steak was a little tough and there was quite a bit of fat on it.
I was disappointed in Rey's this year from the last year when we went. Seems it wasn't quite as good overall as it was last year. It would be nice if they started serving meals where all the items were not a-la carte.
We may try again next year. Special occasions should be special, Rey's did not make it that way this year.
Wonderful atmosphere, great service and the food is superb. If the story of Reys is, great food and aervice in a restaurant that allows you to eat, converse and have a relaxing evening with your better half.....they nailed it. The wait staff is so attentive, knowledgeable and professional......they are the difference between Rey's and all their competitors.
Adrian was our waiter he was outstanding it was our first time there and we will be coming back. He explained the menu to us and the specials the food was also outstanding .
Always outstanding. Rey’s has excellent food and the service is great.
This was our first trip to Rey's and we enjoyed ourselves tremendously. The prices were far from cheap so this certainly will not be a common occurrence. For a special occasion though I highly recommend it. The food was amazing, the wait staff was professional, and the atmosphere was calm and quiet.
We were 10 min late and called ahead to let them know, and had to wait 25 minutes or so for our table.
We 'd have had to wait longer if we'd been on time. To be fair, Rey's was very busy, and they were apologetic. It seemed to take a while for table service to begin once we were seated, but service was fine.
Starters were mixed - cesar salad was not very good (no anchovies, clearly had been in the fridge for a while), baked brie was very basic and nothing special, scallops were good though had been frozen. Entrees, sides and deserts were good.
We had to wait until 7:25 to be seated for a 7pm reservation. Everything else was great. Food was excellent and well priced although portions are not large. Service could not have been better.
Wife and I went Saturday night with an open table RSVP to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
Took an extra 20+min to be seated, was very busy. Multiple couples who showed up after us got seated without a wait. I assume Rey’s assign RSVPs to specific tables, and if your table’s group stays longer then you just have to wait them out? Just a guess.
All apps, entrees and desserts were SUPERB. Meat, seafood, veg, wine - all were excellent quality and quantity. Well worth the money!!
BUT - our waiter was mediocre - he absolutely spent more time catering to the larger tables than with us. At the start he introduced himself then immediately disappeared for 6-7 minutes with their tables. He never told us the specials, we had to remind him to tell us about Rey’s history after he started it but forgot about it later, took 20 min to get each bottle of wine, and he forgot about the SIMPLE dessert we ordered which ultimately took 30min to get (he took it off the bill). He then remembered it was our anniversary and belatedly offered us THAT dessert to take home (which we declined). Overall, a 2 hour meal took 3 hours. All the other wait staff (water, food etc) were very good.
There was also a VERY loud table near us (they had multiple rounds of drinks), and only 1 senior waiter had the sense to ask them to tone it down - though that was temporary as they kept getting louder several times. We mentioned the noise to our waiter and the waitstaff but no one else stepped up.
We will definitely go back to Rey’s - but we will also definitely ask for a different waiter as well.
We have been going to Rey’s for quite a few years and this was our first “not so good” experience. Our server was not as attentive (he had quite a few tables and was a little more chatty at a few of those tables). We ordered the ribeye and it was VERY fatty and had a lot of gristle. Over all, I was a bit disappointed. I’m hoping this was a one time thing, so I will give them another chance.
Best steaks in town!
Everything was first class.
Had a wonderful birthday celebration at Reys! Great salads ,steak, seafood. Bananas Foster was outstanding! Thanks Ray and team for a great evening!
Thank you for such an amazing experience. Michael as the server was fantastic and the food was even more amazing. I would highly recommend this place to anyone
First visit and both food and service were superior. We will return when in the Cary area again.
This was our first visit to Rey's and it was excellent as we had heard from many, many sources. I'm sure we will visit again on another occasion.
We always love Rey’s for a great date night, and yesterday was no exception. Our waiter, Bob, was perfect - knowledgeable and attentive, but unobtrusive. Food was stellar as usual! Rey’s is also one of the few places you can still hear your dinner companions talk without shouting. A real treasure!
Excellent food and atmosphere . Not as expensive as similar steak houses. Fully enjoyed ourselves
My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Rey's. We were extremely impressed with the restaurant, it's staff and our meals. The staff was very kind and accommodating. Although I hadn't informed them in advance that we were celebrating an anniversary, they still were able to make the evening very special. I would definitely recommend this restaurant in the future
We celebrated our anniversary at Rey's for the second year in a row. We chose a "feature" non-menu item of the bone in Ribeye. It was cooked to perfection. While the entire experience was wonderful, I believe my wife will be a repeat customer just for the Carmel Apple Martinis and the Banana Foster Dessert. The Banana Foster is prepared at the table which is fascinating to watch! Oh, and the handwritten "Happy Annivesary" card was a nice touch - Just goes to show you that Rey's puts a lot of effort into the details.
Arrived at 6:05 for a 7:00 reservation checked in with hostess and assume manager and told them we would be in the bar until table was ready and they said they absolutely suggest that. Wife's birthday so we had about 3 drinks each in the bar and bar staff was friendly and on point at 7:15 I asked how much longer and was told not long we had another drink and at 7:45 I asked for my bill so we could go else where before the night got to late to do so. Manager came out and was apologetic about the situation and said the bar bill would be on them I said no I would pay my bill and leave after some discussion I ended up paying 50% of bar bill and manager gave my wife two deserts and 150 dollars gift card for us to come back again and give them a second try as something went wrong when we checked in . Over all the bar staff did there job and the manager was professional in his manner and resolution of the mistake. Keep in mind it was my choice to pay 50% of bar bill because the bar staff should get their tip and we did consume the drinks regardless of the mistakes I could not comment on food and service in the restaurant part as we did not get to that point. They should not be judged on my two stars but on your own exsperince due to every business makes mistakes at some point but what is important is how they handle it and in this case they get 5 stars for the professionalism they showed.
Exceptional food and service! It is our celebration go to dining location!
Great food, service and atmosphere!!! Never disappoints!
1st time and the meal was outstanding.
Average food not the beat I don’t go back
My husband and I love going to Ray’s, it doesn’t have to be for an event, going to Ray’s is an event! The food is outstanding, the service is great, everyone treats you so special, that’s is the total package and you get that every time. Everyone should be treated that way always!
My Son is getting married September 23rd, 2019 and that’s what he deserves, he served in the Marines, started college two weeks after coming home, worked two jobs while going to school and now he starts a new chapter and dinner at Ray’s would be an incredible experience for him!
Thank you so very much for my husband and my dinner/experience Friday. What incredible food, service and dinner we bought for the next night, our to-go meal was so delicious there are no words!!
Excellent dinner, superb service and fabulous atmosphere. I will definitely visit Rey's again. The classiest place in the Triangle.
I have dined at Rey's several times, and it is always a great experience. I usually get steak and potatoes, and on my last visit Rey had my meal sent back because it was overcooked. He brought the replacement personally, and very adeptly served it. That is unbelievable service! And the desserts are wonderful. I brought a friend, who was very impressed with the restaurant and plans another visit.
Amazing food and the service was impeccable! Rey made rounds to great everyone and see how everyone’s food was. He even made our peach flambé at the table for us personally.
You never can go wrong going to Rey’s!
The food is always good and it is a pleasure seeing Rey.
Love his shoes!
We always go to Rey’s when in town. Excellent service with delicious food prepared with a Cajun flair. Consistently good.
Dinner at Rey’s was an awesome ending to a weekend getaway with my boyfriend. Our waitress was knowledgable and attentive. Our food was delicious - chicken for both of us was melt in your mouth. And the creme brûlée to finish was AMAZING! Thanks again for a excellent dinner!
Ate outside on the patio. It was a beautiful night. Service was great and the food was great. Had beef tournedos with lobster thermidor and green beans and lyonnaise potatoes. Everything was delicious.
Great food, awesome service, well worth the expense.
