   Yauatcha is a fun and vibrant restaurant with a diverse Chinese menu. We had tried to eat there one night and they weren't even taking walk-ins, as it was packed. We made reservations and found it to be such a nice surprise. Open kitchens, great atmosphere and excellent service combined with excellent appetizers and entrees. Try the Crispy Prawn Cheung Fun, we'd never had anything like it and we've spent a month in China. Kung Pao Chicken was NOT the standard style, but fresh and tasty. And the Crispy Aromatic Duck was carved tableside and presented with a steamer full of pancakes and a tray of spring onion, cucumber and the special sauce, very reminiscent of Peking Duck in China. Next visit, we will try the Chef's Tasting Menu and ask to sit at the red stools by the open kitchen to observe how the chefs master these intricate dishes.

    This place is closed in Houston, but I wanted to write that it was an outstanding restaurant. One of my favorites worldwide and their crispy prawn dishes were fabulous.

    I would recommend the servers space out the timing of the dishes so that your table isn’t crowded with lots of containers. A good servicer would know that 8 dishes cannot all fit on a small table for 2 persons. Plus the kitchen will not hold the items. Better planning by the server needs improvement. It is not just serving food but an overall dining experience.

    Why closing? Think it bad their lease got taken. We don’t need another steak house. I can cook a steak but not their food. Will certainly miss?

    New Year lunch with family. Food quality is excellent and exquisite. Not the regular Chinatown dim sum quality lol. Nice ambience, great service as well. Love love love the scallop shiu mai. My favorite every time. Wild mushroom dumpling is of course unique and delicious. Soft shell crab with lightly spicy and fried/saute shaved almond - a must. I’m very sad to read the news that they are closing the Galeria location soon. Hope they’ll stick around a while longer.

    To say it was worth the $120 that we paid for dim sum, the answer is a resounding “no”. But the price comes with a clean and modern environment and tentative service. The food was over salted and very small portions. So if you’re use to the couple dollar prices for dim sum, be ready for a sticker shock. You’re not only going to pay at least 50% more, but you’re also going to get 25% less food, for a total loss of 63%. Given that this is for Chinese food, the finance doesn’t make sense.

    We were very excited to go back here. My daughter and her family were here for Christmas and we picked Christmas eve to make our reservation . They were from out of town so I really talked it up. I was embarrassed and apologized later. The service was terrible . We waited forever for our drinks . Our waitress was always nowhere to be found we were asking food runners for other drinks, silverware etc. the apps came before our drinks. The food was good but the lack of service and experience of being a non VIP made it not worth it . Maybe if it was just a so so dinner you just stopped by for without a reservation , it would have been OK but it was not a place you would go to feel important or make your guests feel important. As my daughter said “ wow there are so many restaurants in Houston , why did we go there ?”

    The food was excellent. Our waiter was great. I was disappointed that we got there and all the tables needed to be bussed. The one next to us the one behind. All over. Also, the drinks arrived after the food and we had to ask for them

    I will go to London to have more of Yauatcha's ultra tasty cuisine! It was a favorite of mine in Houston and is sorely missed. Bravo to this restaurant!!
