Pono is Hawaiian for "doing things the right way," a philosophy Pono founder Chef Makani learned growing up on the Big Island. Note: This restaurant very recently changed owners, and there is new temporary signage: “Coco’s.” It is no longer called Pono, so don’t be confused if the signage says “Coco’s,” — you are at the right place. Good option for pre-theatre at the Wallis in Beverly Hills or UCLA or Geffen Playhouse in Westwood — just 15 minutes drive, and a better value than most restaurants in those neighborhoods. Free 90-minutes parking in the Chase Bank lot behind the restaurant. We all had the hamburgers, and all agreed they were very good — quality, flavorful meat cooked as requested. We also shared a generous side order of sweet potato fries which were a bit soggy but not overly greasy. Full bar but a long wait for cocktails, even though there was only one other occupied table. Open Table profile says the restaurant has a “view,” but that view looks out on to the jammed traffic on Sunset.

Food was great, but it’s not called Pono anymore. It’s an Italian restaurant, which is still very good. The pizzas were fresh and the avocado toast was great.

I was looking for a fun restaurant to celebrate a birthday but had to accommodate a vegetarian, and those who eat gluten-free and dairy-free...not an easy task! Pono was able to accommodate all of us. The food was delicious, the service excellent. A bit pricey but worth it...every bite was wonderful!

Love it, the food was great. Service was ok, We had to call on another tables waiter to get some sauce we needed it was a full house, they ran out of steak and some ingredients so I had to choose another entree but hey the food was tasty😋

I made a reservation for a dozen friends at Pono for a Saturday night around 7:30PM. We had a great area on the outdoor patio. The restaurant was busy but not noisy, so we were able to enjoy a large group conversation. We enjoyed a variety of cocktails, and our food came out pretty quickly. Definitely a great casual atmosphere that won't break the bank!

Pono offered more variety than just burgers. Despite the menu changes, we ordered several appetizers and entrees which includes a little bit of everything range from burgers, seafood, and chicken. The burger didn't quite have an impression on us but the Scallop Risottos were definitely our favorite along with the ceviche. The place is perfect for night outdoor dinning and casually meet up with friends.

Met my sis here at Pono Kitchen on Sunset. It's across from what was formerly Tower Records and a few doors from Book Soup. This place is small, glass wood and steel, with a nice outdoor patio with greenery, ceiling fan and the indoor is mostly a bar area with a couple of TVs. It was 90 degrees hot out, had limited time so we sat up the bar and ordered: a couple of iced organic green tea, the skewered chargrilled octopus and papaya, the Pono burger, the Paniolo burger, chicken bites and the Russet cut french fries. The skewer chargrilled octopus and papaya were surprisingly really good; the sweet smoky ocean sea and tropical fruit with edible flowers were perfect. We shared burgers, but I preferred the Pono over Paniolo. The Pono was more classic burger with organic beef and aged cheddar with the works: lettuce, tomato, pickles, avocado on a brioche bun...all very good. The Paniolo burger had the BBQ sauce, bacon and tower of onion rings, also very good but I prefer having more greens. Again, most items were made with organic ingredients and that made feel better about eating a burger. The French fries were disappointing as they were not crispy. The chicken bites were also underwhelming, probably should be for the kids. Disappointed that: burger with marinated fig sauce, ahi burger, and sweet potato fries were not offered in the summer 2017 menu, we wanted to try them. Service from the female bartender Kelsy was professional friendly and nice. She made our lunch hour more pleasant. The menu had some other interesting items: wild salmon, wild ahi, scallops, but this place got their notoriety with Hawaiian style burgers, we thought we give those a try. We did order more than we can eat for lunch so we boxed them to go. I might want to try upon my return visit. Would recommend .

Super cute joint for burgers with a Hawaiian flair. The tempura green beans are slightly spicy and delicious. The corn dog was the most tender batter ever. We went during Pau Hana (quitting time)/happy hour so the bargain was amazing. Burgers weren't medium as requested, and were closer to well. But it was fun, yummy and service was cheerful and attentive.

We went to Pono because it was suggested by a number of gluten free sites and it was perfectly located between meetings. The burger was fine- though undercooked but I didn't send it back. But for a place that caters to people on a gluten free diet, while I was appreciative that they were GF aware, so many of the offerings were not gluten free. Overall, just ok and I probably wouldn't go back for the food. I did like the outdoor setting and the service was lovely.

We tried the Sunset location for the first time. It has a nice vibe for the area, open & airy. The burgers are great and the fries are perfect. The prices are reasonable considering eveything is local/organic/small farm. We like things spicy so we tried the Kuawa Crunch burgers, awesome time.

We went in on Saturday night for the first time. The atmosphere was so much fun. The wait staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. They had great recommendations for us as we had not been there before. I was brought the wrong burger, and they could not have been more quick on their feet to fix the order and the manager came out to apologize. We would go back again in a heartbeat. Oh....and they found my phone that I had left, and found me down the street to get it back to me!
