The service was seamless and the restaurant had wonderful indoor and outdoor spaces. Every dish tasted delicious and was beautifully prepared. The vibe was old-world hotel dining experience with modern decor, haute cuisine and fresh ingredients. I think people would really enjoy Espelette's upcoming seasonal multi-course menu!

So thrilled for Meilleur Ouvrier de France Chef Steve Benjamin. This was my first visit to Espelette, and I had admittedly high expectations based on several previous visits to Jean-Georges Beverly Hills and The Rooftop by Jean-Georges. Every expectation was exceeded! The first pleasant surprise was being seated at a lounge table as a solo diner. From my Coastal Dreams cocktail and hamachi carpaccio through a surprise langoustine with basil wrapped in the thinnest of crispy pastry (!) to a lovely classic steak with fluffy bernaise and haricots verts, and ending with a memorable chartreuse soufflé—everything was on point. Just as Chef JGV has adopted NYC as his home, Chef Steve has adopted BH. The professional training in France that results in cooks who learn every aspect of a brigade AND crafting guest experiences is rare; the culture associated with it may be unique. 🙏🏽

food was great. every item was delicious staff all very polite and professional food service was too slow and too unorganized despite the fact that the number of the staff was double the number of the customers! I will go back but I hope teh kitchen service will be better

Over the top the Dover Sole out of this world de-boned at the table nice experience, They made our Anniversary dinner over the top, the restaurant is beautiful and the staff is first class, the details are amazing, the food is great each plate was presented beautiful . Definitely a wonderful experience!!!!!

Our third time and disappointing Eggplant Parmesan was just ok, as was branzino. .fries were truly undistinguished. Kicker was Pellegrini was $14 for a $3 bottle, quite a markup. Something seems to have changed as our last two visits were much better.

our first experience was overall — lovely. however when entering restaurant there wasn’t anyone to greet us — the host seemed unsure of us and our reservation and did not have a table prepared. while she was speaking to us she picked up flowers off the floor — i may be a hard critic and see the smallest details but she could have picked up the flowers from the floor afterwards, she was lovely however. there was a wedding going on so it felt like a night club, it was quite loud. but we made the best of the situation and first time here. there were a couple of great songs that played and overtook the restaurant music so that made up for it! the chef when he cut our dover fish was perfect! he knew exactly what he was doing :) our server he was quite gracious when serving us— and the the wine expert came to us and opened the bottle correctly and served it beautifully going back and forth between the two of us. another small detail i noticed was that the table by the booths was a bit far away, could have been slightly closer but overall it was a fantastic experience, thank you :)

Chef Steve Benjamin has built on his years of experience running the kitchen for Jean-Georges Vongerichten at the Waldorf Astoria to create a superb new restaurant in the same location. The new menu, the ingredients, the results on your plate, the ambiance, all seem to be a step or two up from Jean-Georges, a most delicious and delightful upgrade.

Chef Steven Benjamin and his staff did an outstanding job, giving us a varied menu of consistently delicious food. We enjoyed the roasted chicken and salmon main dishes very much. The service was cheerful, considerate, and on point. The ambience was casually elegant. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience.

Espelette offered a discount for first-time patrons, something I haven't seen before for a high end restaurant, so we tried it. Food, service, ambiance were all very good (except for a marijuana smell outside which wafted over the wall from a very nearby bus stop on Wilshire ). The on-line menu does not show prices and you wouldn't expect any bargains at the Waldorf. Prices were acceptable, except for the $13 bread, $26 valet (1-2 hours) and no wines below $85 a bottle. You would think that they would charge less for the valet as an inducement to get you to dine there because that is pretty much a deal killer for me.

Lovely room and considerate service, albeit too many different people coming and going, never knew who was our waiter/waitress. Waited over one hour to get our first course. Second course delicious, third one was supposed to come with a vegetable and potatoes on the side. Asked about them and waitress said it was "extra". That was not the case, as other friends nearby got them with their fish dish, as usual at E. Baldi (the evening's chef was Edoardo Baldi). Overall, we would have preferred to go to our regular dinners at E. Baldi, since this overpriced evening was not worth it.

We did not like the food or menu. However, when things aren’t right it’s how it’s fixed for the overall experience. The chef and manager were so gracious and courteous that it changed our experience around to feel better about the restaurant and evening.

Enjoyed our evening a lot. Creative cocktails and very good food. Not the same level as before COVID. But a great attempt. The watermelon salad needs a little work to be a success. The steaks were good and the Dover sole was too. The lobster needs a little work too. The desserts were fun! Looking forward to returning to seeing how they can create more taste for the value.

My friend and I thought the food and service was above par. The attentiveness from the wait staff to the hostess to the chef was excellent. This is an elegant restaurant and we thought there should be a limited dress code, ie, collared shirts (no t-shirts on men), no hats worn in the dining room and no shorts. Other than that, we will be back and will be bringing friends.

Our third visit was as enjoyable as our first two. Aperol spritzers to begin (a bit pricey). Tonight was Brussels sprouts and kale salad with avocado, then mussels, chicken, and ricotta ravioli, house Cabernet (also pricey) Coconut sorbet to finish. All perfect. Attentive service, beautiful setting

First, excellent food. Everything we had - langoustines, tuna carpaccio, watermelon salad, sole and lamb chops - fantastic. Only push back was some portions were on the smaller side. Beautiful restaurant. Great service. Would go again.

Good food & okay service in an elegant atmosphere but music was deafening 70s disco type. Ridiculous fir dinner service. Server & hostess were very pleasant but people who delivered the food kept giving us the wrong things. $450 for 3, no bottles of wine just one martini & 3 glasses of chardonnay. Definitely not wirth it. Sad being it’s a new restaurant.

I had the opportunity to eat at Espelette when I stayed at the Waldorf Astoria. The food was delicious and the waitress, Tracy, was very kind and attentive. I had a chance to meet the sommelier, Marcelo. He was very knowledgeable and approachable. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We went to Espelette May 20 It is not for handicapped; the dining room is far from entrance. The music was very loud. The service was terrible. I hand to send my Mojito back twice for extra mint. My yellowtail was salty, lobster was dry & overcooked. They served my husband before me both courses. I had to ask for bread. Lastly, the either gave our car to someone else, of one of valets went for a joy ride & they lied to us about not finding car. DON'T GO!!!!!!

Food and service was outstanding. We had the John Dory for two and it was very good! Also had the Langoustine and Caesar salad as well as the strawberry tart which were also wonderful! Would definitely return!
