Nestled between East Austin neighborhoods, Este celebrates fresh seafood, Mexican cuisine, and charcoal cooking. From the team behind the East 6th favorite, Suerte, Chef Fermin and restaurateur Sam Hellman-Mass are taking their love for masa coastal.

The light and airy space features white rafters and hanging plants, and happy hour spills out onto a big back deck. All of it landed Este on Bon Appétit and Esquire’s best new restaurant lists in 2023.

One of my favorite Austin restaurants! No matter how many times I have visited, the dishes, service, and food quality exceeds my expectations. Weekend happy hour is great because I can enjoy a nice meal and drinks at a slow pace without feeling crowded or rushed.

Wonderful evening. Great dining experience - including wine recommendation! Great service and food was phenomenal. Our waiter was perfect recommendations. Can’t wait for my next visit to Este!

Kitchen killed it! Food was delicious. However, service was sub par. Staff appeared annoyed to serve. Husband ordered beer which was served in can. He asked for a cold glass but was told by bar staff at first they didn’t have any. Then someone else at bar listening in was able to grab and hand him one. Once seated ordered another beer and again was told no glass available. When waiter passed by we asked again and was told we would have to wait 5 min for the glass. We dinned here when it first opened and it was all around 5 stars. This time around I’m afraid, it was not the same feel. Unfortunately.

Server was great, our only complaint is that we felt a bit rushed through our meal and then to pay. There wasn't another party waiting for our table, so that wasn't the reason. Other than that, the food was delicious and it was a great experience overall.

Loved dining at Este! The food is excellent! We loved everything . Our server was so helpful and friendly! We definitely will be back! The ambience was so enjoyable too! Light and airy! So tasteful!

Este' is worth the visit and could be a good addition to your normal restaurant rotation. My wife and I visited on a Sunday evening and sat indoors. The restaurant vibe is cool and casual with patrons dressed to impress as well a those who looked like they wandered in after a greenbelt hike. The staff is super friendly and provided us with great menu guidance. They were attentive but never intruded or hovered too much. We tried two of their speciality margaritas which were delicious and then switched to their paloma which was perhaps the best we've ever had. We had the Tuna Tiradito appetizer which turned out to be our favorite dish of the evening. It's just enough for two, but you may find yourself wanting more - it's that good! We followed up with the Ensalada de Verano and enjoyed the fresh vegetables they pick from the garden behind the restaurant. The Camarones El Rica were tasty but not worth mess as there is no way to remove the butterflied grilled shrimp from the shells without using your fingers and getting the red chili sauce all over your hands. Our final shared plate was the Pescado Zarandeado - Spanish sea bass filet rubbed with red chili sauce and grilled over an open flame. It was delicious with both flaky and crunchy portions that folded well into their fresh, warm corn tortillas dressed with the slaw, pickled vegetables, and house made sauces. The basil cake with toasted coconut and warm honey was a delightful way to top off the meal. We will be back to taste even more things we didn't get to on our first visit.

We’ve dined at Este many times before this visit so we were surprised when dishes took more than normal to come out. The waitress seemed to place the blame on the kitchen, but it was obvious to us there was minimal check in on their part. For example, we’d let her know that a dish hadn’t been brought out (about 30 mins post ordering), she’d reply let me check on it and magically the dish would be ready at that time. This happened with most of the dishes we ordered so our dinner lasted over 2 hours with large gaps where we didn’t have anything at the table. The place wasn’t busy, so again more inclined to think it was a waitress vs kitchen issue. We plan to visit again, but we’re disappointed in the service and the impact it had on our overall dining experience.

First time dining at the bar. Brandy and Finn were amazing! Swordfish tacos are the best fish tacos in town. We also enjoyed a basil cake dessert with toasted coconut and peach jam that was delicious!! Thank yall. Looking forward to our next visit.
