About this restaurant

  • Neighborhood gem
  • Charming
  • Good for special occasions
Nominated by Food and Wine Magazine as best chef southwest and 4 time winner of the Houston Iron Fork competition, Roost is slowly standing in a class of its own. With accolades like winner of the Food Networks Beat Bobby Flay and competing on Guy's Grocery Games, local Chef Kevin Naderi loves developing global flavors and serving his hometown.
Roost’s 50-seat space is cozy and unpretentious, amid walls paneled with old shutters and Edison-like light fixtures. Roost’s rustic and diverse menu is revised every five weeks, inspired by local availability of farm-fresh seasonal ingredients and flavors of the world, including the American South, Asia, and from the Middle East, taking advantage of Chef Naderi’s Persian heritage.
With over 13 years of serving Houston, we are proud to be a delicious option for our incredible city, and we truly looking forward to giving you a casual- fine dining experience.

Love the small setting. Server was amazing (friendly and aware of the need for space). This was our second time there and loved it even more.

All three of us had the Chef's Tasting Menu meal and shared the selections. For the first course we had mussels, prosciutto & pear salad, and the famous cauliflower. All were good but the overall favorite was the cauliflower. For the second course we had the salmon, duck, and truffled ricotta gnudi. All were very good but the favorite was probably the gnudi. For dessert we got the lemon tart and the sticky toffee pudding. Both were equally enjoyable (we noted that neither of the desserts was overly "sugary"; the subtle sweetness was refreshing). Our wine choice for the meal was Roco Gravel Road Pinot Noir, from the Willamette area; it was a typical Willamette Pinot Noir (almost a Tempranillo in taste). Our waitress, Layla, did a great job. She was very knowledgeable of the food and wine, and was very attentive without hovering. The other wait staff was also appropriately attentive. The only down-side of the night's experience was the parking; spaces at the restaurant were VERY tight, and parking in the neighborhood was almost nonexistent. Our overall dining experience was WONDERFUL!!

Always a great dining experience at Roost. We enjoy the way they change their menu every couple of months. Always fresh and delicious. The people who work at Roost are kind and helpful. Great place to dine in Houston if you haven’t discovered it yet.

Creative and talented chef. Unique taste pairings and quite fresh. Of all the things we tried I hate to admit the wagyu burger was my favorite. The char on the burger was good. Great blend. Superb service that cannot be beat from the staff.

The food was awesome as usual and because we were early it was happy hour and the noise level was very low. We need to come here more often.

The food isn’t as good as it used to be, the pastor gator tostada was really bad and the burger was under. Probably will not visit again.
