About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Neighborhood gem
  • Charming
Restaurant Rebirth; Where the Locals Eat! - is one of OpenTable’s 2018 "50 Best Southern Restaurants in America”, and features regional Louisiana cuisine perfectly balancing fresh local seafood and bold Cajun flavors. South Louisiana native Chef Ricky Cheramie honed his culinary skills in some of New Orleans' top restaurants including K-Paul's, Emeril’s, and Commander's Palace. He was also influenced by time spent cooking in Boston and Maine, including a stint at the renowned Grill 23. Chef Cheramie creates food for the soul such as Country Gumbo, Blackened Scallops with Maque Choux, and Mississippi-Style Barbeque Pork Belly. Located in the historic Warehouse District, Restaurant Rebirth's intimate dining room, with exposed wood beams and original brick, showcases local art and is the perfect destination to enjoy craft cocktails, as well as a variety of spirits, wines, and local beers.

The food was amazing. Service wasn’t the best but I feel like it wasn’t terrible. Amazing cocktail choices. I had the Filet with greens and green beans.. both great sides… steak was cooked perfect at medium rare. The gumbo was amazing as well. I really wanna give it a 4.5 but I just can’t on the app. I definitely recommend with great service this place is a 5/5

We went to try Restaurant Rebirth for Restaurant week. We sat down and ordered from the restaurant week menu. Our waiter then came back to let us know they were no longer honoring it because the chef decided to no longer do it. It would have been nice to be told when we sat down or a text or email saying they were no longer honoring it. They were also out of a lot to make their own signature cocktails.

The pork chop and pork belly dishes were very good and stood out as the highlight of the meal. The other dishes we ordered were enjoyable, though the overall execution didn’t quite measure up to similar restaurants in the area. Unfortunately, the cocktails were underwhelming and not something I would recommend. Given the quality of the food and drinks, the pricing felt steep. We visited during Restaurant Week, but were informed upon arrival that the restaurant had ended its participation early—despite two days remaining in the event and no update on the official website. We were among the first guests at opening time on a Saturday evening, yet were told that our selected beer was the last available bottle. Additionally, one of the cocktails we ordered couldn’t be made due to missing ingredients. It was disappointing to encounter these shortages so early in the evening. Service was average. While staff were polite, our water glasses were never refilled during the meal. The ambiance is charming and cozy, but the lack of effective air conditioning made the space uncomfortably warm by the time we left.

I was looking forward to visiting Rebirth again. I had not been there recently. The restaurant was included in the New Orleans restaurant week group, and they had posted a menu available from June 16-22. We dined there on June 21. Our visit began with an unfriendly, abrupt greeting by the receptionist. When we asked for the restaurant week menu, our waiter went and retrieved one for us, only to come back to the table after the order was placed to tell us that the chef decided that that menu was no longer available. (however, the menu items from the restaurant week menu were still available for à la carte purchase - at a considerably higher price.) I ordered a French 75. What I got did not resemble a French 75. We waited a considerable time for our food. The restaurant felt shortstaffed and rather chaotic. The only reason for the two star rating rather than zero is that the food was pretty good and our waiter tried to accommodate us.

Second time going to this place and it was NOT as good as the first at all!!! Very noisey, extremely warm (southern Louisiana in June…ceiling fans are not going to cut it) portions were very small, and bland. Service was sub par and time between courses was very long (waited about an hour between app and main). This place was on my top 5 list but not after last visit.
