About this restaurant

  • Innovative
  • Good for groups
  • Good for special occasions
Restaurant IPO is an upscale restaurant in New Orleans, Louisiana, that serves elevated Southern-style cooking and comfort food. Everything in Restaurant IPO radiates a sense of Southern class, charm and refinement. The lighting is warm and low, inviting guests to come in for a unique and flavorful meal. The menu is full of delicious and ambitious dishes, often times with flavor combinations and ingredients that diners do not typically see every day. The Southern tapas are an interesting treat, as they are filled with bayou eggs and bon temp shrimp. Another fun menu item is the duck poppers. These are bite-sized balls of duck, cream cheese, jalapenos and bacon. For those looking for something more traditional, the Cuban sandwich at Restaurant IPO is a local favorite.

Southern cooking kicked up a notch, I've never had anything but the best experience with the food or the service. Love the ambience too. Their collars greens are to die for, so get the duck!

Maybe I went at a bad time, but the restaurant didn't live up to the hype. Food was salty and un spectacular, at least in the taste department. It looked amazing though!

Great Tapas. Nice speciality cocktails, enjoyed all things had 3 tapas and we spilt an entree. My only dislike on the tapas was the portions on 2 of them, but besides that good solid food and an enjoyable energetic atmosphere.

The food was the only thing at IPO that was mediocre for the price paid. The drink menu was extensive and the service was great. My experience was OK, but I will most likely choose someplace else downtown to dine.

We wanted to go somewhere we've never been before. So Restaurant IPO was where we headed (the Groupon offer we used helped pick the spot). They were expecting us when we walked in. Drinks first to toast my birthday. It was on a Wednesday night. The place was empty at 6 pm, shortly after a large group came in and livin' up the place. It's an old factory type building with brick walls so the nice level picked up when the group came in. We ordered our food. The first course was soup, we thought a small cup but it was a bowl full. Get the Crab Brie in comes in a Bread Bowl, yummy! Then we had ordered two tapas each, they came out at different times which we liked so the food kept coming. It was to much to eat, we were full and then dessert!

I was immediately impressed with the use of the space in this downtown Baton Rouge Eatery. It has a modern vibe and makes the most of the old historical building so typical of a downtown shotgun style location. Nice wine and bear selection and the menu offered several tempting items. We chose to feed upon the small plates rather than an entree. All of our selections were top notch: grits and grillades, frites with blue cheese, duck poppers, and bayou eggs. If I lived in Baton Rouge, I would visit often.

Met client for lunch. Midway between our respective offices. Tuesday and no other patrons were dining at noon - they need more business!! Staff said hit or miss days. Food was tasty but over priced! 2 salads (1 with shrimp and the other with grilled chicken added) and an appetizer - $43 before tip (we drank water). Due a downtown lunch establishment - this place should have been busier. During our meeting - only one 4 top table was seated.

Salads delish. Butternut squash was terribly bland.
