République, located in mid-city, is owned by Chef Walter Manzke and Chef Margarita Manzke. Centered in the heart of Los Angeles, the classic building in which it resides was originally erected in 1929 by Charlie Chaplin, and later transformed into the iconic La Brea Bakery and Campanile Restaurant. République builds on this storied past, offering a gastronomic environment imbued with history and grandeur. The space features a casual bar and bistro in the front with a more formal dining area located in the rear, serving a French-inspired menu created daily by our Chefs.

I messed up date/time of our reservation, and hostess was kind and accommodating and was able to seat us. Wonderful food and service - such a rarity!

Although République is one of our favorite restaurants and we dine there wherever we can, this was our first prix-fixe meal there. It was a fabulous meal, if pricy (with the wine pairing, tax and tip). I would conclude by saying that it was worth it. A memorable meal indeed, and I suspect we will sign on for the next prix-fixe offering.

Our only complaint was that there were no pan drippings! (that got a laugh from our server!)

Great food , obviously because of Covid I gave 4 stars .. prob should have given 3.. other restaurants with more affordable food have gotten creative with their outdoor space .. that can and definitely should improve .. besides that , the food presentation, promptness, flavors , textures and colors were extraordinary.

Came here during COVID so to be fair, the atmosphere probably was the best that they can do under the circumstances. The tables were separated and wasn't very cozy. But the food more than made up for this. It was unbelievable! We had the scallop appetizer with the black truffles. I could eat those alone and would be happy. We also had the crab pasta and the sauce was so delicious and the texture of the pasta was perfect! I've never tasted anything quite like it. It had a hint of spiciness that was perfect. Even their free bread was delicious! I wish I would have asked them to pack it up because I didn't want to eat it all and not have enough room for the food.

Republique is always a great place to go to. They have outdoor dining and space out tables well. The staff is very cations about safety and keep the place clean and organized. The food was great, we had the Mary’s organic chicken. I loved the dish because there’s always a seasonal twist that chef adds to it each time.

Republique remains one of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles. I’m so happy they are still open in spite of COVID. The food is as delicious as ever with some new dishes as well as some of the classics (butternut agnolotti..!). Go, go!

This was by far the best dining experience we’ve had since covid hit. My friend and I are both in the industry and never write reviews but felt compelled to write one after our fantastic experience tonight. The service standards went above and beyond for the guests safety and the food was an unbelievable experience. The somm and beverage director were both so knowledgeable and helped elevate our meal to the highest level. One of the best meals we’ve had, both before and after covid. Thank you to the entire staff for making our day off great.

We ordered Belvedere martinis, the server explained they only carried vodka from local suppliers. We said we would try but when arrived were unbelievably salty, like two tablespoons each of salt. We immediately sent them back, had something else. Wines by glass were poor and $19 a glass. Our check for two was aprox $ 265 and they charged us $34 for the two horrendous undrinkable martinis.l could go on and on but the place really absolutely sucked big time. The staff also seemed very unhappy, like they knew the restaurant was getting over on their customers! All in all a despicable experience!

All was excellent. Great service, food, staff. The only complaint was that the food was not as hot as we would prefer. Perhaps it’s the outside seating that causes the temperature to be lower than normal

The food on the tasting menu was excellent and the service was as good as the food. It was really so nice to be able to have a nice meal out again. Republique is a beautiful restaurant and they are currently serving dinner outside in their converted parking lot. This diminishes the experience a bit, but the food and service are so good that it really doesn't matter that much. Thank you for letting us feel a bit normal again.

Dinner was fantastic. We’ve eaten out frequently during this last year and have had many excellent meals. This meal was the best we’ve had. Each bite was incredible and each course was extraordinary. They are are cooking at very high level.

We felt pressured and rushed. The feeling was to get us in and out as quickly as posible in order to flip the table.

Given the Covid masks and significant street noise, we could barely hear the various servers. Might be best to present pre-printed information about the wine along w/ the verbal descriptions.

Once the food was ordered, did noy hear from the wairtress again.

Food was wonderful service was marginal.

I would only recommend if they understood that its about the food, NOT the ambiance or the service.

Realllllly great service and food!! Everyone was amazing our server was the best! Our chicken was accidentally thrown out but the manager made up for it with dessert. The dessert was sooooooo good! Highly recommend everything!

The food was amazing, at always, but we were stuck waiting 45 mins outside for our table. There is a time limit on tables but the staff wasn't enforcing it, which was frustrating. And being stuck outside waiting with various other parties in the same situation, which isn't great when you are trying to avoid being around too many people. But the staff was very apologetic and kind about it, they just need to make an effort to seat people on time.

Corona just isn’t the time to come here, the 90min max dining time, very limited menu, and extremely loud and crudely put together outside dining situation made me happy i had already had a valentines dinner at Brera instead.

Food and service still spectacular. Not quite the Republique experience with the makeshift outdoor space but it doesn’t feel like a parking lot. Also $11.50 for dinner valet parking is a bit much.

Came here for my birthday dinner February 2021. Tables are well spread out. They put in a nice floor so you’re on an even smooth surface and not the gravel and asphalt of a parking lot. They’ve partially covered the top, strung up bistro lights, and have heaters, so while you’re definitely outside, it’s not too cold and you feel like it’s a special space to be in. Food was on point, as always. Absolutely delicious. Staff is courteous and well trained. A great experience.

The experience was excellent. Our server was Courtney I believe and was extremely informative about the meal throughout the night. His explanations of the food made the meal taste the way he explained and set the mood for the next plate that would arrive promptly at the table. The whole night was filled with a beautiful ambiance and awesome service that I will definitely be coming back for another Monday night dinner. My and my girlfriend were extremely impressed with all of the curated plates. The Santa Barbara uni was so fresh that it was caught just that day in the wee hours at 5 am and brought to the restaurant to be served. I have nothing but raving reviews for this place and am now hooked! Thank you République and most of all thank you Zelma.
