Chef/Owner Eric Brenner spent his first decade in the industry inside Italian kitchens. Talking up St. Louis' wide-ranging Italian eatery scene, which gets as specific as regional specialties, he says he's wanted to have a place like this since he was 18.
"We're going to start very simple and accessible," he says, "we'll play to the crowd and start a dialogue, then grow the menu with community input."
"Simple," includes dishes like his tomato bisque, with which only has five ingredients. "It's all about the perfect balance. And that gets back to the essence of good Italian food: quality ingredients, very few, in perfect balance." Other examples include his St. Louis-style, thin-crust pizza, best compared to a flat-bread.
Meatballs, Tomato Cream Sauce, Provel Cheese, Oregano
Crispy Risotto Balls
Mozzarella Stuffed, Marinara Sauce
Beef, Parmesan, Bolognese Dipping Sauce
It was a great evening to sit outside and enjoy the food. Great food!
Thank you for a wonderful evening. We enjoyed our girls night out very much and everything was delicious as always.
Good to be at a restaurant where we could visit with long time friends we hadn’t seen in a long time. We
Great food and service! Love that it has gluten free pasta and pizza. Fig and Pig pizza is very yummy!
Lovely lunch in the patio.
Great atmosphere, quick pleasant service, and amazing food! I cannot recommend Red Gravy enough.
Top-quality Italian food at reasonable prices. I have never been disappointed!
We felt comfortable eating here during the pandemic - they have a good setup. The staff was very friendly and helpful for our family party of 7. We've eaten here before, and we must say the food was the best on this particular visit.
We had booked an outdoor table, and because of rain, we had to sit inside. However, they were prepared for us to be seated at the bar, so that was great planning on their part! Super nice staff, great conversation with my beautiful wife and the food was great! We’ll be returning for sure!!
Always love the food!! Nothing better in Colorado Springs!!
They've gone a bit downhill since COVID hit - service used to be very good, but this time we waited for nearly 10 minutes for our server, after being told by two other staff members that she was coming, but we were the ONLY diners in the restaurant. The tomato bisque itself is usually worth the trip, though this time it was just a hair warmer than room temperature. Lastly, our pasta entrees, both this time and the previous time we went, were both PIPING hot - as in too hot to eat without a lot of blowing. This is usually not a problem if you're not in a big party where many plates have to sit under a heating lamp while others are still cooking - again, there were only two of us, and we were the only diners in the restaurant when we ordered.
I'm sure we will return to see if things have improved, but until then won't be recommending them to anyone else.
Had lunch meal ( butternut squash pasta and calamari salad) and friend had salmon meal both very good. A lot on menu look good
This is an awesome place to eat. The prices are not too expensive and seating in the street was a lot of fun!!! I recommend this restaurant.
This restaurant takes health protection measures seriously and we felt very safe eating at this establishment. Masks are required on entering and talking with servers and moving about the restaurant. Food is first class.
The food was OK but nothing special, and my risotto was barely warm. Service wasn't great considering there were 2 servers and only 3-4 tables, yet we still had to flag down our server to place our order, get drink refills, etc.
We attended the Dine on the Street with Red Gravy. It was delicious and loved the scenery being on Tejon St. Food and drinks were all amazing and service was great. We will absolutely be back.
We celebrated my birthday and everything was phenomenal. We ate outside on Tejon st, everyone was doing their part to social distance and wear masks. Great experience!
I love the idea of outdoor sitting, but the restaurant doesn't provide umbrellas for the tables. Last Saturday, with 96 degrees outside, it was tough to enjoy our meal. The water and wine were lukewarm, the food was most likely delicious, but we couldn't enjoy it sitting in the full sun. I was very disappointed with this experience.
The food was great! Dining out on the street is a great idea. The restaurant across the street had a live jazz band playing.
The phone was decent. Took a hour to get it. Waiter was ok, but not checking the table and for re fills frequent enough.
they are understaffed for how busy they are given the new health rules, etc, our waitress ran her butt off serving that night and was very friendly, be patient and don't get frustrated with the wait in between orders, the food is great and worth the extra wait.
The food was delicious and our waitress was nice. Service was just really slow and we waited quite a bit for whatever we ordered from appetizer to drinks and the bill. Our table was right by Colorado Ave and therefore was pretty loud with vehicles driving by. Also, there were no umbrellas or anything to keep the sun away from tables.
Food was excellent!. If you're going to have outdoor seating on Friday and Saturday night in the street it would help to have umbrellas for people that have dinner around 5 or 5:30. It is too hot to have the sun beating down when you're trying to eat.
Cool Italian Bistro with affordable high quality cuisine and great cocktails
Due to Red Gravy meeting all the COVID-19 requirements the ambience was off due to spacing of tables etc. but the food and service was exceptional and cleanliness was unbelievable. Great job and it was great to enjoy dining here again.
I am so fortunate to work within walking distance of Red Gravy. This restaurant is a must try for all Italian food fans. Eveything I have ordered has been excellent. We ordered take out for our anniversary in April during the Covid shut down and what a treat that was, everything was delicious. Yesterday my boss took me out to lunch for my birthday and I chose Red Gravy, she had the meatball sub which looked AMAZING, and I had the Salmon salad which was great too! Do yourself a favor and try Red Gravy
We went to Red Gravy for our anniversary lunch - the food is amazing! The atmosphere and the service were also wonderful. We would definitely go back again!
Sat outside for lunch the other Day. Great restaurant with awesome selection of food and beer. Highly recommended!
It was great to see the city and businesses think outside of the box to create dining in the street to meet social distancing requirements. The live jazz made for an exceptional evening.
Great food, great service, made for a wonderful evening
First time eating at Red Gravy. Loved the food and the staff and service were amazing!
The food was outstanding!!! Our server, his name was Zach, was very helpful and courteous to our every need. We are returning on Sunday to treat my parents
Service was very slow. Forgot our salads. Still love the place though. Will definitely go back.
The menu was plentiful with many choices. The appetizers, dinner and desserts were great. Highly recommend this restaurant
First time trying! Great food and ambiance. Loved the veal 🥰
We enjoyed a lovely evening as Colorado Springs opened Tejon Street to full restaurant seating. It was a pleasant warm night with the half-moon overhead. Service was safe and friendly, and there were no issues with our order. I would recommend the scallops, which were perfectly prepared and served with angel hair pasta in a decidedly Mediterranean flare with cherry tomatoes and Kalamata olives. My son and his wife also enjoyed the fettuccini Alfredo and cheese bread.
Your food is normally excellent, however the red gravy rigatoni was not . The noodles were not cooked well enough the sauce wasn’t the same, and very very little sausage .
Our other friends thoroughly enjoyed your food, my husband loves your lemon cello custard, it was out of the world .
I think the closing of some area's on Tjon was a hit. I would love to see this done every summer. Great vibe. Good times. Love the live banc
Service was awesome! Loved the Orange Margarita. The Panzanella salad was delicious. The dressing was sweet. Large portion for the Veal Parmesan. We sat outside for Dine Out Colorado and it was a great atmosphere.
Great food. Friendly service.
