Love the menu, the service and atmosphere. The menu changes just enough to keep it interesting but you can depend on the old favorites. My favorite overall restaurant in Boulder.
Hi Rose, What a huge compliment! Wow, really happy to hear that you like our menu changes, but yes the Enchiladas must stay for life! I will definitely share this review with the staff. Thanks for letting us know. Cheers! Heather Zolo GM
Great service and the BEST banana cream pie!
Yes!! Save room for the pie! Thanks for the shout out. Thrilled to see you are happy with our service too. Come see us again soon. Cheers! Heather Zolo GM
Yummy guac salsa and chips. Lovely patio. Watery mushroom tamales. I think this is an anomaly. Others had redfish or sweet potato tacos and all 4 of us ate everything on our plate (except the pool of watery sauce). Then we shared a fabulous banana cream pie with a delicious crust and smothered in whipped cream!
Hi there, This was very helpful feedback and we always appreciate helping us get better. I will address checking the sauce on the Tamales. However, we just changed them seasonally so please come back to check out the new version soon. I will have the village maintenance team check into the bug situation. Kindly, Heather Zolo GM
Hi, We are so pleased that you recently had a 5 star visit at Zolo! We look forward to you dining with us again! Kindly, Heather Zolo GM
Celebrated the 4th with friends. Always a fun time at one of our fave restaurants!
Thanks for choosing Zolo to celebrate. WE really appreciate a fun crowd that is loyal. See you again soon. Cheers! Heather Zolo GM
Phenomenal food and great atmosphere. Loved the patio.
Hi Nick! You rock, thanks for the shout out! So glad you joined us on the 4th of July! Cheers! Heather Zolo GM
Waiter was spotty with his attention. Everything was delicious except for shrimp appetizer. Duck tacos and chicken enchiladas were particularly delicious.
Hi, Happy to see that you enjoyed the Duck tacos and Enchiladas.....they have been long time staples at Zolo! The Shrimp Appetizer is new for us and I will get this info to Chef right away to make sure the seasoning and flavor profile is dialed. Do you remember who your server was? This is not the level of service we are capable of and I would love an opportunity to address the individual server if you have any further details. We take a lot of pride in what we do here! Thanks
We eat here often. The creative spin on Southwestern favorites are great.
Quick attentive service. Mushroom tamales with butternut squash hash was very creatively prepared and presented. Chicken enchiladas were hearty and flavorful. Casual comfy atmosphere, surrounded by
Hi, So pleased to see you had such a great experience with our food and Zolo vibe with the Art by Kevin! Thanks for checking us out, hope to see you again soon! Cheers! Heather Zolo GM
Everything we ordered was fabulous! The blackened fish tacos were the best I have ever had, and that is saying a lot. The enchiladas and the fried peppers were astounding as well. We have gone here for years, and it just keep getting better!
Our server, Bear?, was great. He Came to our table the perfect amount of time to let our lunch meeting continue without interruption. Will be back.
We sat outside for lunch. Lovely with beautiful hanging baskets of flowers. Our group shared the 3 different types of tacos (sweet potato, fish, carnitas). We all loved them all. So much flavor! We also split a piece of the banana cream pie for dessert. Also super yummy, with added drizzles of chocolate and maybe caramel syrups.
The banana cream pie was not of the amazing, crave-creating quality I remembered. We reserved two pieces to share and our adult kids left theirs unfinished, ours was consumed but the crust seemed under-cooked, along with an overall lack of flavor..?
Rest of the food was great. We will return and try other desserts.
Table was ready for us when we arrived, good attentive service, forgot to bring us condiment, but overall good service. Sitting outside was a plus, perfect place to spend Father's Day.
Hi Shari, Thrilled to see we were ready for your reservation and you had great service. Always nice to get great feedback. Thanks for coming to visit Zolo! See you soon. Cheers! Heather Zolo GM
Fathers Day Brunch. This has been a go to place for 25 years!
Tasty, authentic southwestern fare! Good desserts.
The grill never disappoints. Each time I travel to boulder I make sure that I have a meal there. Happily introduced it to family in the area. The queso is unparalleled and the churrros are sublime.
Very good — excellent service and same yummy food!
Loved it last time when they made the guacamole fresh at the table...now it tastes like it was ‘pre-made and they threw in a few fresh chucks. Duck wings were over fried and the pork chili was gluey. But I can’t fault the cocktails.
We will not go back. Too many better choices in Boulder.
Zolo's has consistently great food, the service is excellent, and we love being able to make a reservation online.
Fabulous food and tequila highly recommend wonderful service
Male server was bad, not attentive, didn't check back, not personable. I think the AWESOME MANAGER did as much as the server, seriously. One should not have to flag someone down after waiting and waiting.
First bad experience so still love it.
Love this great restaurant!
We had a great 80th birthday party
HI, Thanks so much for this wonderful feedback! We really appreciate you choosing Zolo for this celebration! Hope to see you all soon. Cheers! Heather ZoloGM
A great place in Boulder! Easy to find parking, but its good to make reservations.
Hi Daniel! Thanks for saying such nice things, we appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your recent visit! Hope to find you again soon, don't forget to check out the Patio in the summer! Cheers! Heather Zolo GM
Very good and accommodating!
Thanks for your business! Excited to see you had a great time! We are happy to see you had good food and service. Cheers! Heather Zolo GM
Five of us for met for an in formal business lunch we started with chips and salsa and each ordered an entrée - a shrimp appetizer to share. Our meals were served promptly and all were excellent.3/4 of the way through the meal the waiter apologetically brought the appetizer and told us there would be no charge. We enjoyed the appetizer and then the manager came by with yet another of the same shrimp dish explaining she thought the first one looked a bit too small. Both of these service gestures surprised us and delighted us. Thank you so much Zolo grill for your professionalism and attention to detail.
Hi, Thanks for taking the time to let us know that you appreciated our gesture! We really strive for the best Quality in our service and food, and if something isn't quite right then we really like to be honest and get better with every opportunity. Hope to see you again soon. Cheers! Heather Zolo GM
I live in Greenwood Village, but this is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is amazing and beautifully prepared and presented. I can't recommend highly enough.
Hi Mark, This is such a nice compliment and we really appreciate you taking the time to let us know! I will definitely share with the kitchen. We are thrilled to be a favorite and will continue to try and impress. Cheers! Heather Zolo GM
We’ve been coming to Zolo for years. Our last visit was sadly disappointing. The guacamole was dull - no flavor. The decision to serve fish tacos on a wooden board was not practical. There was no space to prepare or eat the taco. The fish was drenched in oil. And sadly, our server never took the time to listen to us. Even though we told him we did not eat meat, he proceeded to tell us about the pork special. That was indicative of the whole experience- indifferent food and service. Hopefully, this was a one-time glitch. It happens. We hope things improve.
Hi, This is very disappointing to hear about the level of service & follow-through here. I would love further details about your server please, so I can address specifics and improve for the future. The reason we decided to serve the Tacos as "build your own" is because it helps maintain the quality better and doesn't make taco shells soggy. It doesn't sound like the fish & guacamole were presented in the best light, which I will address with Chef. Kindly, Heather Zolo GM
Good good and great service always add up to an experience worth repeating. We will definitely come back to Zolo in the future.
Hi Linda Thanks for sharing this with us. Can't wait to show the staff. Very pleased to see you have a reason to come back soon. Cheers! Heather Zolo GM
Zolo Grill is a perfect place for a relaxed, unhurried lunch. The staff is very pleasant, the food is very good to excellent, the atmosphere and ambiance is pleasant, especially on a nice day when the windows are open and there is a feel of being in the outside elements even when sitting inside. Zolo Grill is definitely one of the best places, if not the best, in Boulder for lunch.
Making a reservation on this app doesn’t matter to this restaurant. We waiting for 15 mins to be seated. And another couple came in after us and didn’t have a reservation and got sat down before us. After getting our secluded seats in the very back of the restaurant. We sat there for 10 mins and no one greeted us. So we left. And hostess who sat us clearly saw us leave told us to have a good night. Didn’t care to ask why we were leaving or is there something wrong.
Hi, I know I have already responded to you on Yelp, but I really am sorry for what happened on your visit here last Sunday. I did come out after you in the parking lot, but you didn't see me. Your girlfriend came back, and I tried to apologize and be genuine, but I know we had already lost your trust at this point. I truly would never want to lose any guest, and Sunday was a tough shift for us. I would still love to offer that dinner that I mentioned to your girlfriend.
Staff could be more friendly and attentive. It took a while to get our drinks and we didn’t have silverware when our desert was delivered so used our fingers. Music was terribly loud and had to ask a couple times to turn it down.
Hi Sarah, I am really disappointed to see that your service wasn't what we expect her at Zolo. Do you have any further details about your server so I can have an opportunity to describe great attentive service? This is not acceptable standards at Zolo. I am sorry to hear about the Music, we really try to be cautious with volume because we know this old building doen't help us out at all with noise. I would love any further details you would be willing to provide. Kindly, Heather
Great Mother’s Day brunch. Food was great, especially enjoyed the churros with whipped chocolate and rhubarb purée. Would definitely go back.
Hi Janet, Thanks so much for letting us know you had a great time with us. We sincerely appreciate your compliment and hope to see you again at Brunch! WE have the Churros any time of day. See you soon. Cheers! Heather Zolo GM
The waiter trying to up-sell everything got to be a bit much. When I wanted a simple martini I ended up getting a $23.00 cocktail. I was not told the price ahead of time. Then they got the entree orders wrong. Not a great experience.
Excellent, would definitely return. Everyone at the table loved their food and drinks.
Hi Jim, Thanks for the shout out! We really appreciate your business and I am thrilled to share with the staff your feedback. See you again soon. Cheers! Heather Zolo GM
Such a disappointment! The food has seriously gone downhill, and the menu is much less inventive. Avoid!
Hi, I am very sorry to see we disappointed you on your recent visit with us. On Sunday, did you ask to speak with a manager to voice your concerns? We are very receptive to feedback and really strive to understand what really brings our guests back for more Zolo comfort food and unique dishes. Is there something specific on the menu that really made you feel like the food and value aren't to the standards they should be? Kindly, Heather Zolo GM
I had not been to Zolo Grill in over 20 years . My friend & I wanted to celebrate Cinco de Mayo a day early . Table for 2 at 6:30. Restaurant was very crowded but we were seated quickly. ( with reservations)Service by a friendly waiter was prompt for the first half of meal , then slowly eroded towards the end. I counted his tables & I believe it was upwards of 5-6 , one table having about 15 people. Considering his load he did very well . We had to wait about 20 minutes for our check .
Food was very spicy . Next time I will take more time to read the menu . Definitely woke up the taste buds. I had been wanting to try sweet potato tacos & they were on the menu so that’s what I had. Presentation of 3 tacos was very unique- looked like dried grasses on a plate collected from a field . Taco part - the base- could have been better- kind of cardboardy, not much flavor. Sweet potato & topping was delicious . Friend had Hazel Dell mushroom tamales which were served with sweet potato & kale on the side. She added they were very spicy as well . Appeared to be vegetarian .lovely preservation .
We had chips & salsa as appetizer . She had a margarita .
Bill was about $60.00 more than I usually pay at a Mexican restaurant but food here was definitely farm to table & above the fray.
For a special occasion I would go back & try another entree- maybe rellenos or chicken enchiladas.
Reservations a necessity I think on weekend nights.
Hi Heather! Yes, we are very busy on the weekends, so reservations are always recommended. Happy to see you found some unique offerings on our menu. We try to be pretty specific in descriptions on the menu listing peppers, and the sauce on the Tamales is a almond Habenero cream so definitely kicks up the spice. We would love to consider ourselves more Southwest than Mexican with a focus on Colorado Cuisine. Come back soon for those Chicken Enchiladas, they are a favorite! Cheers! Heather'
The menu was unique and varied and big enough, yet it seemed like there was not very many things to choose from. We all enjoyed the food, nobody complained and nobody raved. Some of the portions were huge (pancakes) and some were comparatuvely small (sweet potato tacos and biscuits and gravy). For Boulder, there were surprisingly few options for special diets (gluten/dairy-free...) The service was friendly, but terribly slow even though they weren't very busy. We chose this restaurant because they could seat a large party together, and they did that satisfactorily. They had ample seating for multiple large parties and they take large reservations online through OpenTable, which was a plus. Many places won't take a reservation online for more than 8 or 10. I would recommend if you are looking for a twist on the standard breakfast menu and for large parties.
Hi Maggie, I really appreciate your detailed response on concerns with the value perception of some of the items you ordered. We don't list Gluten/dairy free on our menus specifically, but we can always alter to satisfy dietary needs easily. Glad you found that we were accommodating to large groups. Would love any additional details regarding your server so I an address immediately? Kindly, Heather Zolo GM
overall good, my plate was disappointing the enchilada which from what i understand is a popular dish. not sure what happened here, maybe a new cook.
Great food and service. Not too spicy this time. Free tequila samples. Chips and guacamole to start. Right consistency and flavor. I had the crispy relleno deluxe. Excellent. Pepper was battered and deep-fried. Surrounded by salsa, meat and beans. Wife had fish tacos. Excellent too. Build your own. Good selection of tequilas and beer.
Hi Mike, Glad to hear you had such a nice visit with us this past Tuesday. Thrilled to see you loved your Entree choices.
