This was the first time I went to Zolo during "non-busy" hours and I was pleasantly surprised. We had the Green Chili and Chicken Tortilla soups for our mains, and the kids meals are large, healthy, and affordable ($7 a kid). The Happy Hour Coin margarita was perfect (their campfire marg is fabulous too but make sure you have a DD if you order one). I think overall their meal prices are a bit high, but the soups and HH menu is reasonable and delicious. We ate about 5:30, before the crowds, so if you don't want a hip & loud scene, go before the evening rush (otherwise the noise factor would be higher on my review).
Was disappointed on this visit to Zolo. Ordered the Green Chili Burger but they "were out of it." Campfire margs were about 2 swallows each, and the service was marginal, at best. Prices have gone up too. 2 people, 3 drinks, good food, marginal service, $100. Hmmm...
Zolo Grill is always our “go to” spot for a good meal and easy parking, thanks!
The noise level was WAY too loud. The ambient noise from the diners was loud, but the background music blasting put it over the top. Otherwise, a very enjoyable meal.
We went to Zolo for Valentine’s Day and had a great time. The food was superb and the service even better. Our daughter left her hat and when we called it was already at the front desk waiting for her.
My lobster posole was excellent. Loved that you could actually taste the lobster. Would definitely order that again.
My wife wanted the fish tacos which were not on the menu but were available. She ordered them and they were also great.
I had the Cava which I enjoyed. Love the individual bottles.
Great food, great atmosphere, great staff. We love to meet there before CU games. Tom
Had not visited Zolo in a while and now probably won't be back. Smelled like commercial cleaners from the moment we stepped in. First table we were offered (with a reservation) was very noisy. Second table much better. Wait staff was mixed - guy who made our guacamole was delightful - as was the guacamole. Waiter seemed very distracted and unclean. Food was truly mediocre other than the delicious guacamole. Sorry. Wish I could be more favorable to an old Boulder standard but it just was not a very enjoyable meal.
Service was extremely slow we waited 25mins to order appetizers and drinks. Perhaps it was 1 server for large number of tables.
Food was good as always.
Service by waiter and food was good - hostess was clueless ... forgot about us and we had the open table reservation.
Quality of the food was fantastic and the happy hour margaritas were tasty especially the coin margarita
Table side guacamole was great! Vegan options.
Great from start to finish. The banana cream pie is amazing!
Food was very low quality. We barely touched our entrees. Presentation was poor and flavor was poor. The quesadilla from the kids menu was so bad my child wouldn’t eat it. Margaritas were the only decent thing we ordered.
Our group of 9 people all agreed that Zolo Grill did a great job taking great care of us! It was a very busy Friday night at prime time, and our servers were exceptional with getting out drinks, appetizers and taking our order. Food all arrived at the same time, delicious and generous portions. It was a little noisy at first, but not so much that it was distracting from our dining experience. We loved the freshly made guacamole so much (made fresh at your table!) that we had 2 DOUBLE orders.
Wonderful find. Very creative dishes full of flavor. Service was top notch.
The food and service were great. This in my favorite Mexican restaurant in Boulder
Anniversary
Good food and good service.
Really tasty food and incredibly friendly staff.
The food was very good, however, this time the kitchen was not careful preparing my son's dish. We informed the waiter about his food allergies (eggs and peanuts) but apparently they were not careful enough and had to take him to Boulder Hospital due to an anaphylactic reaction.
We had New Years Day Brunch. It was really wonderful. Yummy food and drinks in a cozy, comfy environment. We've been going to Zolo for years, and we have primarily enjoyed our meals, but honestly, over the last couple of years, the food has felt only average, so we hadn't been in about 6 months. But..this time...Everything was exceptional. Deliciously spiced and flavored. Abundantly plated. Beautifully presented. Thanks for helping us celebrate the and bring in 2019! Dawn and Gerard
Boulder staple. Never disappointed.
Love the menu because they keep the favorites but update other menu items frequently. You can always count on quality food and service.
We went on a Thursday night. It wasn't that busy. It took 20 minutes for our waiter to even acknowledge us. He ten stated that he had a large group that took up his time. Probably won't return anytime soon. We enjoyed the food.
You must enjoy Zolo if you like Mexican cuisine, a great happy hour, and excellent service! The service style makes it a team atmosphere to get you your food and drinks the second they’re ready. Very impressive food & service! Adam rocked as my server and I’ll be back whenever I get back to Boulder! Well done Zolo!!!!
I enjoyed taking my staff here for lunch very much. The menu is not terribly large, but I think everyone found something to enjoy, and there were some novel menu items to try. I would go back for sure.
Ordered stuffed trout. Usually love Zolo’s food so was surprised that trout was very dry. Won’t order that again
Very attentive server and the food was excellent!
Little noisy. Sunday night seems to have quite a few small children. Food was great and service very good.
Tortilla soup was too spicy, should be advertised as such. Otherwise very nice.
I like the Zolos for lunch particularly the chicken enchiladas. Have not tried for dinner.
A local favorite for 25 years, Zolo never disappoints! Pro tip: the short rib quesadilla was outstanding!
Decent food, but the problem was that the two drunk women at the next table spilled hot sauce and it splattered all over our table. Coats, sweaters, etc., all in need of cleaning. Most of us got it in our hair and faces. No acknowledgement from the staff that anything was wrong, although it appeared they saw the whole thing and spent time cleaning up the mess in the next booth.
Service was excellent, food was just ok. The meals were supposed to come with beans and there were maybe a dozen beans on each plate - very minimal
Love the new menu! Zolo’s updates their menu often enough to keep it interesting! The new squad tacos were spectacular!
Horrible service, and the new menu is unremarkable. The food is no longer unique or interesting.
My husband and I dined here for our anniversary, and we loved every moment! The food was presented beautifully, and tasted delicious. The manager seated us, and thanked us on our way out. What a lovely experience, sending our gratitude from Texas!
We stopped going here several years ago because the food was too spicy for us. Decided to try again. Glad we did. Shared guacamole and chips. I had pork steak and green chili. Chili was a little spicier than I like but OK. Steak was great. Wife had salad, empanada and tamale. Great choices. Many tequila and mezcal selections. We’ll be back regularly.
We took a good friend of ours to visit Zolo, one of our top Boulder restaurants and it did not disappoint. Immediately we were met with a loud energetic Sat evening crowd (don’t go here if you need a quiet intimate setting). As we were seated in a booth, our guest sat in a bit of water from the staffs cleaning and quickly sat up. One of their runners/waiters was walking the other direction, caught her in the eye and quickly reappeared with a dry towel to fix the wetness! Great attention to detail!
Food was wonderful. Great margaritas. Def recommend!
