Zocalo has the most delicious menu, the food is so fresh and inventive! The staff were delightful and our server took the time to serve up our birthday girl’s cake (with sparklers on it nonetheless!). We went on a Saturday night and be prepared for very loud music over the speakers. That was the only downfall, we had to speak super loud to talk to one another.
Food was amazing, as usual! We get the same thing every time. The guacamole is delish as well as the taco cazuleas. My husband gets the grilled skirt steak with the grilled portabella mushroom. The kids mix it up with items from the kids menu and they’re always happy. We love coming here.
Young restaurant, staff seemed overwhelmed and unable to fulfill orders on a busy Saturday night. Would not recommend.
We had a great time and the service was fantastic!!
We always try to go during Happy Hour and order from the HH menu...lots of variety and great prices. It can get a little noisy so try and get a table off to the side or outside (they have heat lamps) unless you like loud music!
Tonight was a disappointment. We have always loved going to Zocalo, downtown and the location at Howe Avenue. Tonight was a birthday dinner. Two of the people at our table ordered the salmon, both of them came out cold… The rice was cold, the beans were cold, the fish was moderately cold. We asked for warmer dishes and replacement for one of the dishes came out and it was just as cold as the original. We did speak with manager and those two dishes were taken off of our bill, which was very nice but unfortunately it was not what we were expecting for our annual special occasion at Zocolo tonight.
The reason I am sending this feedback is because we are Folsom residents, and I really hope that the kitchen at the upcoming Folsom location is conscious about food temperature, there are many choices in Folsom and attention to detail and food temperature is important.
Waiter was superb! Service was prompt & w/a smile at all times. The atmosphere & food was awesome! Had the Salmon bowl👌delicious🙌🏼will definitely go back☝️
This is the first time I have been disappointed with Zocalo. My husband and I were both served the wrong food. The service was great and he did accommodate our bill to reflect the issues. While this one trip overall left me disappointed, I will still be back for the fish tacos.
Service was exceptional, despite being a very busy restaurant. The management at Zocalo know what they are doing and we were more than pleased with the service and food!
Great place to have a New Year's Eve dinner. Very festive, great food, incredibly friendly service. It was a lot of fun!
Food mixed. Nice service. Great vibe.
We reserved late on New Year’s Eve. Patio dining was all that was available. It was warm with heaters and service was excellent.
The ceviche was amazing, but small portions. The service was ok, we kept having to ask for more water. Overall pretty good chips, salsa and entree.
Excellent food! Huge portions and plenty to share. Chips and salsa are freshly made and extremely tasty and delicious. We enjoyed our brunch / lunch. Will definitely come back for dinner soon! Thank you!
Made reservations and was seated right away. Drink order took a while for delivery. Had to request a coffee carafe because the main server never came back to refill; had to request a refill from the food runner, who turned was a more attentive server than the actual server. Overall, food was fabulous, and ambiance was gorgeous.
It was a pleasant evening to enjoy out daughter's birthday. The personal where friendly and our waiter/server very accommodating too! When they brought out the Birthday cake in the end and they sang too. However my younger daughter ordered choro's for desert it never came, she was hoping to eat that delicious treat, that was the only hic-up for the evening. They were not on the bill so no worries.
Waited 20 minutes with a reservation. Waited again once seated. However it really was okay cause everyone was so nice.
I made a rest for 5 plus a high chair and we were sat at a table for 4. So instead of giving us a larger table they put chairs on the ends. It was very cramped. The service was extremely slow. We were seated for 30 minutes before someone took our order. The drinks came very slow also. She said the bartender was very busy, but it was 5:00. It was not even very busy yet. I have been here many times and have always had great service and great experiences.
Great food! Fast service. Great atmosphere. Big portions.
Zocalo has an inviting happy hour menu for this early dinner; we opted for the more substantial lunch menu and were not disappointed. Ample portions for the Cameron’s taco with a cabbage filling whose acidity complemented the shrimp. Excellent Cuban “mule” that came a little late. Chile relleno was also spot on with a special margarita. So the hustle and noise is to be expected in a bustling restaurant . Enjoyed the experience once again
It was great - we loved the food- but the music was blasting on full volume and when the restaurant is so full - as it was the night we were there - it was impossible to have a conversation. It was incredibly loud sadly.
We love Zocalo! It’s our go-to for family meals out. My sisters from out of town loved it. Thank you!
A great place for larger groups. Good service, and flexible staff. We had some people come late and they were accomodated.
Brought my small staff there for holiday lunch. The restaurant was very full (which was nice), but also very loud, especially the music. Was difficult to have any sort of conversation. Food excellent.
Always wonderful service and food and drinks. Happy hour is the best!
We were on our lunch hour. The staff was quick and competent. A very festive place
I had such a great time at lunch. The ambiance was so nice and festive. The food and service were also great. Love the vibe and cannot wait to go back
I loved the food and atmosphere ( even though it’s a bit loud). The service needs a little help. It was a very busy night, but we had multiple servers come to the table ( after waiting for 15 min just to get a drink). I was looking around and had to flag down the hostess to get my server after 15 min.
The food was excellent, the service was fast, but didn't feel rushed, Waiter was wonderful
Took my parents there for lunch. They enjoyed it very much.
Our team voted to come to Zocolos for our Holiday Party for the second year in a row. We remembered the lovely time we had last year we had to return! The service and food left everyone happy. Thanks for the great experience, Zocolos!
Four plates - only one was hot, and the rest were lukewarm. We didn't complain but it was a disappointment for sure.
The food was very good! Servers were friendly. We are definitely going back!
Everything was great accept for food service delay, orders were mixed, drink ordered that never cane. I think for large parties they should have at least two servers. I had party of 19 and def will be going back. Food was great. I am not criticizing the server she did her best and overwhelmed. Management should look into this type of events. Luckily my group was patient!!
We have come here often. Very very disappointed with this visit. Ordered a margarita w/o salt on rim. As I drank it, it got briny and more briny as the drink sat. Like I was drinking salt. When we told bartender he tasted his mix sitting in a pitcher and said it was fine. He said it must be that salt fell into the ice on accident. We ordered another. It was fine. But was charged for the crappy briny margarita! Our kids ordered burritos at $17 each! One had practically no meat in it. He only ate half and took the other half home. Next day he went to eat it and at the end of the burrito discovered there was a HUGE lump of meat. So when they made it, instead of breaking up this huge chunk they just rolled it up and served it that way. Not worth $17 each.
Their quality is diminishing greatly. And they’re not paying attention to how they’re preparing the food.
Followed request for booth seating by patio. Good service, and attentive staff. Pacing was excellent not rushed. Will dine again. Thank you
Had our small staff party here. They were all set up for us on time. Entire staff was friendly and attentive. Food was delish. Must say better than downtown location. Loved the holiday decorations.
I eat at Zocolos MIdtown and University Village (UV) frequently and enjoy the ambience that both restaurants have. I eat at the UV more frequently and always have reservations, as they are busy!!! Normally when I rate the experience the UV locations gets 4.5 - 5 star rating, but this last time the food came out cold. I am mean cold food on a cold plate. After a a couple of bites, the waitress came over and sked how the food was. We told her it was cold, and she immediatly handled it. Withing 5 minutes we had hot delicious food and the waitress gave us a buy one get one free meal on our next visit. It just goes to show how a great service professional can change a bad experience into one where we will return.
