Zandunga comenzó en la barra de la cocina, en la sala, el comedor o en el patio, donde la gente llegaba a disfrutar los fines de semana de garnachas y platillos elaborados por Aurora Toledo. En 2002 abrió formalmente sus puertas como restaurante. Hoy en día cuanta con dos restaurantes Zandunga Sabor Istmeño y La Zandunguera donde su compromiso es otorgar a la gastronomía istmeña el lugar que se merece; una de las mejores cocinas del estado de Oaxaca. El patio principal es acogedor, los salones son especiales para momentos inolvidables y la Mezcaleria es una de las mejores selecciones de mezcales de la ciudad

La comida está “bien”. Hay muchas opciones muuucho mejores en los alrededores; los platillos son muy planos sin llegar a ser ricos o especiales. Lo que dejó mucho que desear es el servicio, es muy muy lento.

Fue de las mejores opciones de restaurante para cenar en la ciudad. Como cualquier otro viernes por la noche en el centro, vibrante lleno de fiesta, bailes y alegría por doquier, nos tocó cenar en este lugar que se encuentra en medio del festejo. Nos sentaran en el salón de la mezcalera por que en el jardín tenían un evento, lo cual nos gusto mucho la música que tenían de fondo de una banda, no se si siempre lo manejen así. Pedimos el platillo de Garnachas para dos personas, todo lo que probamos estaba increíblemente delicioso, vas a Oaxaca y lo que quieres probar son los platillos típicos de la región, y en ese plato logran incluirlos perfectamente. Sabores, texturas y visualmente un platillo muy armonioso. No somos personas que comemos mucho, entonces con ese solo platillo, el consomé de cortesía que nos ofrecen al principio y las bebidas quedamos satisfechas. Un Must para visitar en el centro.

The place is very nice but the dishes were served cold and had to be sent back to the kitchen to reheat. The people working there are very attentive but we felt there was a lack of waiters so they were struggling a bit

We celebrated my husband’s birthday here and while we felt somewhat rushed at the beginning of the evening (meal was served within 15 minutes of sitting down and dessert came out immediately following the plate clearing), the restaurant and serving staff were lovely. A beautiful, quiet setting and the fantastic flavours in the entrees were enjoyed. Complimentary appetizers and birthday cake to share were a very nice touch as well.
