Great food and fantastic service. Large portions. Bone marrow appetizer is the best I have ever had. Cochinita Pibil is a whole shank with an awesome mole, so be prepared to eat a lot or take some home. No room for our dessert
I need every restaurant in Santa Fe to have this feel. Food was great, service was solid, never rushed. I had the Conchinita Pibil which fell off the bone. Wifey had the quail, which isn’t her “go to.” But the way it was prepared was delicious. Our daughter had the mahi mahi tacos which if you finish they should give you a t-shirt of accomplishment. Generous portion, fresh, and delicious as well. We shared the churros for desert which were very tasty.
We shared the Bone Marrow starter: interesting presentation and great taste. It was fun to share. We had the fish and steak tacos--large portions, fun sauces, homemade tortillas, tasty and filling. We each had a glass of wine. The service was great. This was a nice new dining experience. We dined at 6pm. We noticed the dining room was full at 6:30pm.
Food quality was amazing. They seated us (in 20 degree F weather) OUTSIDE with three tiny heaters covering 5 tables and open gaps of air blowing in. We were all freezing and sniffling by the end of our 2.5 hour meal. Why 2.5 hours? Because our waitress only came by every 30 minutes. We waited an hour to even order our entrees. It was the worst service we have ever experienced and the outside situation was awful. Food is great though.
This restaurant is a must when in Santa Fe! 5stars
I had been wanting to dine here since they opened in 2020 and finally had the opportunity to do so. The food is absolutely exceptional from the presentation, to the flavor, and the execution. We had several courses so we could get the full experience. We shared appetizers, entrees, and deserts. We wanted to try and share everything and that is exactly what we did! The portion sizes are very generous and full of flavor!
The food is like fine dining but the atmosphere is non pretentious, which is a nice change of pace. This leads to my next point, the service and time you spend to dine. Our dining experience was at least 2.5 hrs. Our service was good, however our server could have been a little more attentive. There were long gaps where we did not see her. This is honestly the only drawback I can say about our experience, but not enough to give a sub par review. Give Zacatlan a try! You won’t regret it!
Simple but good.
This is now my go to place . I recommend to everyone!
Sweet find. I recently moved near the Guadalupe/Railyard area and looked for a place for a short walk for lunch on a cold New Year's day. Loved it - was also unsure of an item in my order, and they immediately checked on it for me and confirmed was was/wasn't in it. My server came back over in about 10 minutes to check and see if all was OK. Service just right - attentive, but not hovering (which drives me crazy.) This may be my favorite new neighborhood place, tucked into a side street off Guadalupe. Chilaquiles amazing. Traditional cozy Old Mexico feel and tables widely spaced enough to feel Covid-safe and others' conversation unobtrusive.
Phenomenal service and food!!
Food and service was great. Would recommend for a date night.
New Years Eve Prix Fixe menu - food was absolutely delicious! We were sat in the enclosed outside area at a very small table for two. It was a very tight fit and the small metal chairs were very uncomfortable. The indoors seating and ambiance looked very warm and lovely. We will request an indoor table next visit.
New Year’s Eve
Very well-executed prix fixe menu on NYE and really good service.
Delicious burrito. Delicious.
I was so excited to go to zacatalan and try all of the wonderful sounding cuisine. That was not the experience. After having a reservation for 1.5 months we show up to be offered one of two tables, one which was literally crammed between to large tables where you couldn’t move or the other literally in the walkway. There were plenty of empty tables. The service was good and so was the pork belly. However the pork belly was a tad heavy on the cumin. We had to send back the octopus because it was chewy abs had to practically saw through it. At this point we made the decision to pay and move into coyote cafe.
Cozy restaurant in adobe home. Staff is friendly and responsive. Food was fabulous. The pork shoulder with mole sauce was delicious as was the filet mignon special and the duck. Highly recommend the bread pudding dessert which is big enough to share.
The Christmas Prefix meal was grossly inequitable in portion size for
The only vegetarian item on the menu which was 1 small stuffed chili rellano filled with quinoa, a few black beans and a couple of pieces of cheese. It was tasty but was the size of a small appetizer. My friend has also ordered it but was splitting a large full fish with her husband. She was the one that first said “there should be at least two of these chilis for this dish”. I asked if we could order one more and was told it would be $26!! Keep in mind that all the other dishes on our table and neighboring tables had large portions with meat. This chili was vegetarian and was extraordinarily small and filled with very inexpensive foods. I interrupted my Christmas dinner to the supervisor on duty. She wasn’t apologetic or even able to offer some kind of equitable solution other than some tortillas. This was an expensive meal with no meat and just made no sense. Everyone at my table couldn’t believe the manager on duty really had no interest in customer service. It’s too bad. I’ll never go here again and I frequent Santa Fe often.
Our Christmas Day meal was enjoyable. The 3 course meal was a nice way to end our Christmas Day. My husband had the filet and I had the snapper. A bit difficult to eat all of the snapper meal due to everything being served on the snapper carcass, but everything tasted good.
Our first time at Zacatlan. The 9-table dining room was full but neither noisy nor crowded feeling. I'd say "cosy" except that some warm spots of light are needed; simply having candles on all tables would help a lot and a warm-bulbed lamp on the console table could be nice as well.
Our two appetizers (arugula pear salad and pork belly) were good, and all three mains outstanding: short ribs, stuffed quail, and duck (all recent additions to the short menu). More than acceptable Rioja from the lower end of the list - which curiously mixes reds and whites, mostly new world, without discernible other ordering. Attentive service.
The appetizer's and entrees were outstanding, however the service and ambience fell short. We had requested seating inside in the main dining area with the reservation, but were directed to the drafty, side room with space heaters. The waitresses were not very attentive and needed several reminders to provide water, pour wine and missed a few items that we had ordered. Understanding that during covid, regular help is an ongoing problems. On our previous visit, we had not encountered any of these issues in the main dining area. Definitely worth a visit, but request the main room.
We loved our first visit to your restaurant. Everything was perfect from Grecia, and her attention and friendly service to the fabulous food you prepared. We had the Eggs Benedict and The Pumpkin Waffle and Duck Confit. We started with the chips and guacamole which were amazing also.
We are from Durango and will visit again next time we come to Santa Fe!! Thank you and best wishes for your continued success!
Wonderful experience all around! The food was delicious and the service was warm and attentive. We enjoyed the bone marrow, lamb, quail, and corn flan.
Outstanding. Warm spirit in lovely room, delicious brunch fare.
Excellent food- everything we had was great! Service was top notch
Very well prepared and served meat dishes we had. I really would have liked to have the accompanying beans and rice to be enough to even pair with the meat. Or a bit of cabbage or greenery. Just a large portion meat with very little else so a bit disappointing
Wonderful meal, highly recommend. Mexican fine dining.
Small menu with great choices - fish, lamb, quail, and more.
Get the corn flan - one of the best things that I’ve ever tasted. A charming hidden treasure is now my favorite dining spots in Santa Fe.
First-timers visit, but clearly a highlight evening. The service was excellent throughout…attentive, but never intrusive. The starter sip of white wine was a thoughtful surprise before we’d ordered anything only to be followed by beautiful sampler taste of a squash purée. The appetizer Ceviche was large, a bit dry, but a wonderful flavor as was the Pear salad. The Vegetarian was chosen as an entree with total satisfaction. The taco entree was shared by two and totally satisfied both. The beef short ribs should have been shared as the portion was extremely large and melted in our guest’s mouth. This was accompanied with a wonderfully smooth portion of mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables…the veggies were the only disappointment as they were under prepared, hard and all tasted alike. Otherwise, a very special dining opportunity…but a bit pricey in our experience. We came early, but the tables were fully occupied by 6pm…reservations would seem to be required at least on weekends. Finally, don’t be distracted by the storefront or the dark neighborhood…it is a great adventure to be there…and we loved the warmth of the staff!!! Thank you…we’ll return!!!
Our appetizers and main entrées were phenomenal. The plating was exquisite. We will definitely return for our next special occasion.
This is an incredible place to eat and spend time. Every morsel has been well thought out and exquisitely executed. God damn! Party in my mouth.
Great experience overall. Bone marrow appetizer was unique and tasty. Short ribs were fantastic as was the quail
Excellent service and unexpectedly superior food! Would recommend to anyone who loves Santa Fe and would like a foodie experience.
Chef Rodriquez is amazing!
One entree very good and the other average. Given the price point, we expected very good across the board. Service was very good but not sure I would go back.
Excellent meal. We were seated on the covered patio outside, it was very comfortable. My husband had the Red Snapper and I had the duck. Both were delicious.
Delicious and inventive dishes for our City. Must tries: Squash Blossoms, Grilled Pulpo, Cochinita Pibil
We were charged for two glasses of wine we did not order. I didn’t notice this until the next day when I reviewed the bill. I called right away, it took them over 30 minutes to figure out how to credit us back since we split the bill they need to credit Both of us. But we actually paid tax and tip on that so it should’ve been $16+ credited back. They didn’t understand this. So they just credit us $12 each. Not a good experience.
