The name Zacatlán surged from the origins of our chef, Eduardo Rodriguez. He was born in Zacatecas, Mexico (north-central Mexico), which is defined as "the habitants of the land where grass grows". Zacatlán is the nahuatl translation for "land with an abundance of grass", and that is where our idea of Zacatlán Restaurant began.

Zacatlán Restaurant desires to continue to preserve the traditions for our upcoming generations, while bringing forth new flavors. These new flavors incorporate Southwestern and Mexican influences. We are established near the Santa fe Plaza, right off of Guadalupe Street. We want to unveil a new fusion of food for everyone in Santa Fe and those who visit.

    Pretty good. It was restaurant week and they were busy, but service was spotty. One of our appetizers had been forgotten until we reminded them about it, and the waitress seemed a bit overwhelmed. They were out of sangria and one of the wines on the list. We were excited by the menu options (upscale Mexican food is not easy to find here in NEW Mexico), and some were great (veggie-filled poblano chile in mole and flourless chocolate cake stood out), but others were just pretty good. Supposedly they’re going to get a full liquor license soon and start serving cocktails - we hope so. Overall, we’d recommend it to friends, and look forward to going back for their brunch, which is yummy.

    Service was very good. Food presentation was very good. Food taste was good but not great and I was disappointed in the short rib entree. Overall good was good but did not have the “ wow” factor that I was hoping for.

    Perfect 10. Went during Restaurant Week in Santa Fe. Three course fixed price meal with several options for each course. Loved all the moles that accompanied the menu selections. Eduardo Rodriguez is an amazing chef that has perfected his Southwestern and Mexican cuisines. Currently a semifinalists for the prestigious 2024 James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards. Can be difficult to get in since the restaurant is so popular. Plan ahead. We canʻt wait to go back.

    Two of us enjoyed the Restaurant Week menu. One starter we chose was quail, the other rockfish ceviche. Mains were short ribs and baby back ribs. Desserts were bread pudding with saffron ice cream and flourless chocolate cake with berries and ice cream. Each course was delicious and beautifully plated. Service was efficient and unobtrusive. The intimate dining room was charming and vibrant. We've been to Zacatlan before and we'll certainly go again.

    We had been several previously but brought friends who had never been for Restaurant Week. Everything was as we hoped and remembered. The food and service have always been consistently good. I recognize they have the same staff as they 3 years ago. To me that’s a great sign. Highly recommend Zacatlan! Parking can be a bit challenging…,

    Creative, delicious, unique but not strange. Amazing perfect balance of flvors from beginning to end. I learned they do brunch…. Must try that next!

    Terrific quail medallion over polenta appetizer, delicious short rib and duck confit-very generous portions, and elote flan and bread pudding were both heavenly! Great restsurant!

    Worse overall dining experience in past 10 years in Santa Fe! We reserved a main dining room table but were seated in patio area. The room looked like some 12 year olds would put together with scrap materials. Decorated with memorabilia from spring break in Cancun. Speaker blaring terrible Mexican music over our heads. No mixed drinks, my beer was old and skunky. Closed room heated by outdoor propane heaters which smelled awful and gave a good dose of carbon monoxide. Food was pretty but quite bland. Entree was served on scorching hot plate but was barely warm. They must have been using plate to heat up food. Struck me as place where owner is doing everything to maximize profit but does not care about diner’s experience. All for just $100 a person.

    We had a wonderful meal at Zacatlan last night--our first time there. We focussed on seafood, since you don't always see that on the menu in Mexican-inspired restaurants around here. I had the Bronzino, and it was delicious, with lovely sauce, salsa, and vegetables. My friend had the Red Snapper and it was equally tasty. The presentation is a real show-stopper! The Caesar salad had delectable green Chile/cheese croutons; my friend loved her Rockfish starter. We shared a delectable bread pudding dessert. Nice list of wines by the glass. Excellent, friendly service. Beautifully decorated with art on the old adobe walls. I'll definitely be back.

    EXCELLENT AGUA CHILE(like a ceviche), the branzino was OOTNOD THIS WORLD, and the octopus! The staff is so so happy, owner is charming, and this place is a 12 out of 10.

    All courses were outstanding. Loved the braised short rib. The quail medallions appetizer was excellent. Excellent low key vibe. Attentive service without being intrusive. Highly recommend.

    My parents were in town, so I took them to Zacatlán for dinner. The ambiance is lovely: the dining room is fairly quiet and cozy. Carla, our server, was super attentive, kind, and all smiles. The food was delicious, and today I'll enjoy the leftovers as much as being in the restaurant's dining room. And yes, you should get the pork belly appetizer! There was one minor thing: my fish was overcooked and a bit chewy, which I brought to Carla's attention. She immediately whisked it away and within minutes I had a new fish cooked to perfection. I don't ding the kitchen for that - these things happen, and everyone should have the opportunity to make things better. The fact that the restaurant was so responsive and addressed the issue immediately is a positive in my book. Now on to those yummy leftovers...

    There for Santa Fe Restaurant week. We had the yellow tail ceviche and quail medallions in a mole sauce. Entrees were the Beef Short Ribs and Chile Relleno in a lighter mole sauce. Chocolate Flourless Cake. Amazing! Will be back!

    Great food! Unfortunately, the server told me there was nothing spicy in my selection (given my allergy) and there was. So, I had to return it. But, what a great waitress; she felt terrible about it. She had me order something else and yet still gave me a substantial discount. I put it right back in her tip because she knew what customer service was and handled it like a pro! The food (other than spicy choice) was wonderful! The Caesar salad was one of the best with great croutons. Desserts were amazing and I don’t usually eat desserts…. But it was worth it: we had the flan and bread pudding! Both divine!! I’m definitely going back. Only negative issues are difficult to find parking and temperature was excessively hot for my comfort.

    The food was amazing. We had reservations, our table wasn't ready, we waited 25 minutes to be seated. We weren't seated in the main dining room but the "tin shed" room. Someone kept gunning their engine outside and the room filled with car exhaust.

    Had a reservation and was seated right in time. We couldn’t decide between two wines, so the server brought a taste of each for us to choose. Dinner was exceptional. The arugula salad with poached pears and goat cheese was delicious, as was the branzino. My husband had the quail breast starter and the braised short rib, said it was delicious the most tender short rib he’s ever had.

    The food is world-class Mexican food, with international flair. The service was outstanding. The server knew the food and the wines. It was restaurant week and the portions were generous! It was my favorite of all the places I've visited for Restaurant Week.

    We happened to be in Santa Fe during restaurant week and were excited to try Zacatlan. The food was amazing, service excellent, ambience was ok - felt a little beyond rustic - but overall still 5 stars!

    Went there for restaurant week for our first time. May have been due to restaurant week but service was very slow. We were placed in the somewhat enclosed patio. The food was very good but after an hour and a half we had our desserts wrapped to go and left. We will try again but not during restaurant week😁

    My wife and I had not been to Zacatlan since it opened. Santa Fe Restaurant Week offered a great opportunity. I knew that Zacatlan's owner and chef - Eduardo Rodriguez - came from Coyote Cafe (my favorite restaurant in Santa Fe). I had very high expectations. True, Restaurant Week options can only go so far. However, Zacatlan blew past my expectations: service was excellent, the Chef's food (I had Branzino and my wife had the Chile Relleno) and we found the flavors of both our entrees to be expertly fused together with the result being a wondrous medley of flavors; dessert was wonderful - my wife had a chocolate flourless cake and exclaimed her happiness at first bite (I want all the gluten I can get); and our choice of a Reserva Spanish Red was so, so smooth and went with all of food. We will be back.

    Chose to dine here for "Restaurant Week". We dine early, but the restaurant was full by the time we finished. Rather cramped seating, overly loud music, and slow service. The food choices on the prix-fixe menu were very good! Extensive wine choices at various prices, but leaning toward expensive. Beer and wine only.

    Went for the Valentine's Day three course dinner. The food was beautifully prepared and tasted amazing! The portion sizes were good for what we paid. Would definitely eat there again when visiting Santa Fe.

    We loved every bite of our meal, from the bone marrow starter to the flan. The wine selections were also excellent. Highly recommend the lamb barbacoa with homemade tortillas and the duck confit. A highlight of our trip to Santa Fe!

    Had only been for breakfast. Went for the first time for dinner. Wow! Excellent menu choices, wanted to order one of everything. Yellowtail ceviche was great. The snapper and branzino were also great. We are adding this to our list of favorites.
