Great experience. Delicious food!
Great to celebrate this special evening with friends and great food.
Great place and wonderful people to help to select your food. It’s always a great experience.
Server was very ARROGANT again... 2nd time he took care of us. I sent a Special Request-Wife Birthday and NOTHING from Hostess or Server.. Guess they don't read reservation request. ...
Food was delicious and our waiter was great!
Overall good experience. Waiter seemed rushed to us but didn’t make for a bad experience. Food was fantastic
We were told that we could not have a preferable more socially distant table because it was reserved. That table sat empty for the entire time we were at the restaurant. We were rushed from our table with out being asked if we wanted dessert or coffee or additional drinks.
No social distancing (not even at the bar) & staff stated that they don't like it but Landrys management wants it this way.
Service was also not great.
Food and location it great.
No special ambiance that would wow you to rush back. Showing golf on big screens is not what I expect on a Saturday evening.
Phenomenal experience. The ambiance is really up there with the best of the best in Houston. Love the location by Post Oak Hotel. Upon entry you are greeted with the fresh seafood of the day displayed upon ice which looks nice. The seafood menu is fantastic. The food itself is high quality and the flavors and presentation are superb. My only complaint is the hostess was not willing to take a photo of us near the entrance at the end of the night.
Put in bar booth. Food was not tasty
Great experience, food was excellent and the service was top notch. Will def be back and can't wait.
New Years Day 2021 - Booth seating in the bar area - Surprisingly cushy seating, excellent food, and visual presentation, attentive service (there when needed but not hovering) - great room ambiance. My past favorite was Goode Company Seafood - Memorial City, but Goode Company's move to a new location resulted in a sterile, plastic experiences. I've think I've found my new favorite with Willie G's in the Post Oak Hotel complex ! Will return !
A positive experience from the valet until we walked out the door. Staff is extremely pleasant and attentive and food was amazing. I’ll definitely go back the next time I’m in Houston.
Came only for NYE Brunch, the waiter had to check to see if it was an option. Social distancing is not in place however its not in place at any restaurants. Overall decent restaurant I will stick with the regular menu moving forward
The hostess was not very friendly but my waiter was amazing and made up for her dumpy attitude. He not only was attentive to us but to several tables around us. I was quite impressed by this. At the end of our meal he personally escorted us out and thanked us for choosing Willie Gs to bring in the New Year!
Great food... great service... very much enjoyed our dining experience. We will be back!
New Years Eve
I was extremely disappointed that there was no social distancing and I saw several waiters pull their mask completely down to speak with patrons as they were ordering including our waiter. While I understand the Resturaunt industry in particular has been hit really hard, I would have never made reservations and gone there. We had a 7pm reservation it by 8pm every table except one was filled in our dining area. If the tables around us had been filled when we sat down to order, we would have cancelled our reservation and gone home. Also, the food was average and definitely not good enough to put your health in danger.
We arrived @ 5 pm 12/31 with reservations & seated by ourselves in the atrium room for about 45 min's. Our waiter didn't see us for 20 min's, and sat with only water for more than 30 min's. Ordered wine which came 30 min's later, white wine was not chilled and husband's first choice of cabernet was informed they were out of only to receive 2nd choice about 15 min's later. Other tables in the room were seated and brought bread immediately, which we never received or asked if we wanted. Ordered Bang Bang Shrimp which was very dry with only a tiny drizzle of sauce. Wedge salad had dark green dressing which tasted as if gone bad. Husband's Scottish Salmon was great, but broccolini was cold as was cauliflower au gratin. My crawfish ettouffe was just mediocre. I requested a spoon for my entree and waiter brought a large serving spoon way too big for a human mouth. Ordered chocolate cake for dessert, and 30 min's later was told they were already out of before 7:00 pm on New Years Eve! Was told this restaurant was very good, but with our experience(s), we can't recommend. Would love to give this restaurant a 2nd chance, but not sure if or when.
My wife loved the quiet Birthday dinner and was very pleased with the controlled crowd setting. She’s an area Principal and had not eaten out in public during the pandemic. Thank you
The food was good, and the waitresses were very helpful and knowledgeable. I would return based on my experience.
Birthday dinner for two loved ones. Everything was amazing and our server Archie was the best
Simply ok. Had to wait additional 20minutes after reservation time in order to be seated.
Willie G’s needs to improve their dessert offerings. Other restaurants in the area( Grotto, Carrabas, have much better dessert offerings
Christmas Dinner
I had called an hour earlier to try to postpone my resv by an hour because I wasn’t feeling well, hostess declined moving resv and stated I would be charged the cxl fee if I no-showed. So I got myself together and went... when My bf and I got there, hostess said “we don’t have any indoor tables, only the patio.” Told her that was not ok, reminded her that I had called earlier to postpone and was denied. Smh. Finally, she “found,” a table. Not at all socially distanced by the way. I had to move my chair when the person from the table behind us stepped out. Then the meal. Asked for a steamed lobster and received a plate full of lobster tails. To the Chef’s credit, they were good. But obviously not what we ordered. My bfriend insisted that I let it go, and so I did. My bf stepped away to the restroom and because I wanted to treat him to dinner, I gave the waitress my CC and asked if she would please just charge the card at the end of the meal & not bring the check as it was a gift/surprise to my significant other. Sure enough, she forgot. And brought the check to the table. I had to then awkwardly ask my bf for the check and hand it back to the waitress and “remind,” her of my request. Embarrassing for all. My steak was pretty good. Lastly about food, the shishito peppers and onion strips had one shishito pepper and was a mile high plate of fried onion strips in a bowl - I instantly regretted ordering it. Thought of asking for something else- but we didn’t see our waitress again until she “dropped the check off,” as prev mentioned. The restaurant was really busy. Would not recommend them on a wknd or holiday at all. Maybe during the week the service is better, more accurate and hopefully more welcoming.
The food and server was very good, however we originally made the Christmas reservation because of the " Christmas Menu" but once we were seated and received the regular menus, we were told that the items on that menu had been sold . I really don't understand how that was possible since we were able to order some of the same items that was advertised on the Christmas Menu from the regular menu at a higher price.
So much for honesty in advertising....
Sorry to say our much-anticipated Christmas Day dinner was not a good experience. Although we had booked well in advance and confirmed twice, when we arrived the table had been given to another party. We were 8 people including two 70+ yr olds, and our 3 yo grandson requiring a high chair. The hostess guided us to a bar height table with backless stools. I was told “This is the only table we have.” by the hostess when I said that this would not work for our party. I had spoken to the restaurant on 3 occasions and specifically requested the corner round table and had a positive response. It became very clear that Willie G’s does not honor their reservations/requests.
AI have loved Willie G's for many years. This year on Christmas day, the service was the absolute worst i have ever had. our reservation was at 4:00 so there were not many diners it too 1.5 hours to get our our entree and 30 minutes to get a menu.
typically not your standard service.
Amazing and knowledgable service, quick valet, beautiful dining area - steep price!
Food and service were great. Perfect spot fir a dinner with people with different tastes!
We love Willie G’s!!! The food is always delicious and the staff is always exceptional! We were very happy to secure a reservation for our Christmas Celebration.
It was crowded for a holiday. Food was pretty good but Richard our server was amazing. He was attentive and friendly and we never went without needing anything. My only complaint is the chicken and sausage gumbo. It was running over with soup and not hardly any chicken or sausage. My boyfriend had crawfish etouffee and he said it was pretty good as well. My braised beef was to die for. I'd definitely be returning
The shrimp was delicious & the oysters tasty. Except for the shrimp, portions were extremely small. The French fries were dried out, cold & “shoestring” size. I felt as though I received half the amount of food that Pappadeaux, for example, serves for the same seafood platter.
For Christmas day, very good experience. Not too crowded, and food and service very good overall. However, our two wait staff were handling the entire bar section of the restaurant by themselves so they were litterly running to keep up. They made an outstanding effort in spite of the challenge. We had reservations weeks in advance, yet were seated in the bar area. Not a bad experience, but a little more casual than we had anticipated. Almost all of our food was fresh and tasty. One member of our party had the butterscotch bread pudding which was included in the Christmas day special, and it was dry and obviously not fresh. Another member of our party had the same desert except in the $11 version, and it was fresh, moist and delicious.
Hostess was not very friendly but service was great, food was great!!!
Our Christmas Eve dinner was very special. This was out second time at Willie G's. It is elegant, yet not ridiculously priced and it is nice to see customers dress for a special evening out. The cocktails were excellent, the servers worked very hard to accommodate the busy restaurant and we each enjoyed our meals of oysters on the half shell, seafood pasta and sushi.
3nd year there for Christmas Eve. Service was below par as well as food and seating.
Service was really slow but it was Christmas Eve so we took that into consideration. However waitress seemed to pay attention to another table more than ours which was frustrating. Food was good not great for the price but overall a fun night out with my family.
We decided on Willie G’s for our family’s Christmas dinner. The photos from the website appeared that the restaurant was nice and elegant and we chose to sit on the patio for safety precautions. The restaurant itself was decorated with festive holiday decor, but the patio felt like you were in a sports bar. If you are marketing a special Christmas Eve/Day menu on your website with an elegant photo of a white tablecloth covered table, etc,, and you give the option of seating in the patio because you know there will be more interest because of covid precautions, then it would be nice to carry that same festive decor throughout the restaurant. The patio area was sterile with televisions playing random television shows and Teena Marie was blaring Lovergirl. When I asked the hostess if the music could be changed to something else a little more festive, she said they didn’t have the capability to change it because it was already programmed what was to play that evening. The food was so so. My spare ribs were overcooked and my husband’s steak was undercooked and lacked flavor. Our server was very kind and helpful. When I asked for the holiday menu, she scribbled it on a piece of spiral paper because they didn’t have copies. I appreciated that, but found it odd there were no paper copies nor a QR code offered. On the flip side, we were given regular plastic menus for regular menu ordering (prefer disposable) and also no QR code option. She was a very pleasant server and very kind, but after we placed our order, we hardly saw her again. I don’t think it was her fault because she had the whole patio assigned to her. The food wasn’t hot like it had been sitting a while, and even our bread pudding was that way which usually you want warm. The food was chain like. The manager by the podium should walk around more and pay attention. The women’s restroom for an upscale restaurant was terrible. Several industrial bottles left out; felt like a Cracker Barrel.
