The service was great, chairs very uncomfortable and the sandwiches were not as good as teas I have had in the past
Absolutely appalling service . It took ages, the food was average and despite the fact that it was not busy it was a nightmare trying to get any service. Absolutely hideous
Wonderful experience. Cant beat the unlimited champagne.
The food was below average
Hostess Ramona made us feel comfortable and welcome
We had high coffe, it was a very nice experience and you got plenty to eat and coffe.
Beautiful setting with piano playing in background. Lovely ambience
I arrived a bit late but they were able to still make the high coffee set for me. It was lovely and they introduced each food item carefully.
This was our first time having afternoon tea and it was amazing. The staff was very attentive and explained the history behind the service. Would definitely recommend as well as go back again
A Really relaxing and interesting afternoon! The staff were well informed and talked you through each course with detail. Such a wonderful treat!
We had a lovely experience at the Wellington Lounge. I am glad I chose this venue as a birthday surprise. We got looked after really well and afternoon tea was a real treat. Highly recommend
Such a great afternoon tea in an amazing setting. You will not be denied if you are not dressed up, but you would feel underdressed.
Staff is very kind, food looks and tastes amazing, and there is live music.
Would definatily reccomend this afternoon tea!
And Ramona, if you read this: we really enjoyed your service and that of your very kind Australische co-worker!
Brilliant. Went for Mother’s Day, both of us really enjoyed it - especially my mum. Excellent service.
Amazing service and location, though a little overpriced for what it is but thoroughly enjoyed the experience
Beautiful historical setting. Staff were lovely and attentive. Food excellent. Piano was a bit loud.
As ever the service was friendly and welcoming. Lovely food.
Myself and my friends had a lovely afternoon and enjoyed our afternoon tea.
A lovely selection of sandwiches and cakes and the pie at the start was delicious!
We have been here for high coffee twice now and had exceptional service both times. The food is delicious and the coffee perfectly matched. I would highly recommend this as another option for afternoon tea and would easily rate it on par with the Savoy. The lounge is calm and comfortable and we really enjoyed the added bonus of the pianist.
I would also like to put a special mention in for Olga as she is the possibily the best server I’ve ever had. She recognised us on arrival even though we had only been once before and couldn’t have been more charming or friendly throughout the high coffee experience.
We will definitely be back for this fantastic experience!
Food was dreadful but servers really made an effort!
My friend and I went for high coffee. The experience was good from the moment we arrived. We were assigned a waitress and she was very good and knowledgeable about what we were being served. There was a good pianist which added to the nice atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this to others.
My Fiancé and I were very excited to come to the Wellington Lounge as we had booked it for a celebration of our engagement! We received a lovely call the day before from the restaurant to confirm any allergies but to also congratulate us which I thought was a nice touch.
On the day, we had the free flowing Perrier Jouet Afternoon Tea. The quality of the food was nice and the champagne was great although didn’t flow quite as freely as you would like for £65 – it is a better service at the Grosvenor House or Sheraton! At many points, we were left waiting for a top up or our next course of the tea and I noticed that across the room, cakes or sandwiches were being given to customers with no explanation of what they were or what was inside. Some customers had to ask for this to be explained to them by a separate server. At some point into our tea, the table next to us were presented with a lovely celebration plate, but when asked what they were celebrating by the staff, they said they weren’t celebrating anything – so I wondered if this was perhaps meant for us? One other issue was that Open Table says the price was £52 but is actually £65 on the day at the Wellington Lounge.
Overall it is a very nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon but let down a bit by the service.
Service was not great. Took almost 30 minutes for waitstaff to come by each time and if each course took 30 minutes as well once a course had finished. Afternoon tea is usually at a slower pace, but not 3 hours.
Very good service and live music. Wide range of tea choice. Recommend without hesitation. Perfect!
The sandwiches were a bit dry around the edges but tasted amazing. The speciality teas were beautiful. The live piano music was too loud so we were struggling to hear our conversations. If it had been quieter and gentle in the background then it would have added to the ambiance rather than commanding it.
He was a good player, just too loud!
We enjoyed the Royal Afternoon Tea very much. The service we received was excellent and the pairing of tea with the various stages of the meal was a nice idea. Mixed breads (carrot, tomato, corn etc) with the various sandwich fillings was also an unusual touch. Would definitely recommend the venue for afternoon tea.
Enjoyed an afternoon tea last weekend and had a wonderful time. After doing research on other high tea options with regards to availability and cost, this was a great option. We booked through open table only 30 min before the time slot, so they were not ready for us, but quickly set up a table for us and we had a great experience.
Festive atmosphere, sleek service, good food. The live music (pianist) was especially pleasant.
great gluten free selection
Really enjoyed this afternoon tea. I booked it at late notice and was pleased they had tables at a busy time of year. I thought it was good value with a glass of champagne (£36), a lovely pianist, very comfortable seats, and great staff. Some afternoon tea venues are crazily popular; while this one seems less so it did the job exceedingly well.
The Wellington Lounge is an amazing place for afternoon tea. The service is excellent so attentive and they genuinely want to make sure you enjoy yourself. The food is great, beautifully crafted and presented and so unusual not the standard afternoon tea. The piano player creates a lovely atmosphere and the room is so relaxing and comfortable.
Very slow service. We wasn’t offered anymore tea or sandwiches. Not worth the long wait between courses despite the free glass of champagne
We had an enjoyable and memorable afternoon tea to celebrate my 75th birthday. Service was excellent and food delicious and different. Partridge pie was our favourite.
Our only criticism is the disabled toilet which was not user friendly. Usually there are grab rails either side of the wash basin enabling someone in a wheelchair to pull them selves up but there were none. The only rail was on the back of the door, some distance from the toilet if you are unable to walk.
Lovely environment, great service, and beautiful afternoon tea spread.
Very nice afternoon tea experience. Service was very slow, but we received 2 more glasses of champagne because of the slow service :) that was ok then :)
My girlfriends and I had the High Coffee experience and it was pretty good. The service was excellent, even if we were not the only customers in there, the room was quiet, relaxing, we could listen to the lovely young lady playing the piano. The first part (savory) of the High Coffee was excellent, the second (sweet) not so much. We all thought that the cakes were far too sweet, with the Baileys eclair been the most disappointing (where was the Baileys?). A note for the Hotel Staff: corretto (as in caffe' corretto which means coffee laced with alcohol) has 2 Rs and 2Ts in Italian.
Nice selection of food but service was a bit on the slow side, particularly for refills of champagne which had to be most of the time
A wonderful afternoon tea, with a live pianist, delicious food and the most attentive and delightful staff.
We were well looked after, and they made me feel very special.
Would highly recommend.
While very reasonably priced, this tea is still not quite worth it. The tea was of good quality but the sandwiches were not very good. The breads were hard and dry and the fillings were not well made. The pastries were not appetizing and tasted just okay. The scones were good but not great. The atmosphere was wonderful and the piano player was amazing. There are better places in London for afternoon tea - it might be worth paying a bit more.
Excellent afternoon tea. Have been here twice and among a lot of high end hotels, I've received the best service here! Not only are the staff very knowledgeable, polite and friendly, they also take the time to explain the menu patiently and properly suggest paired teas. I've found from past experience that staff at a lot of other high end hotel afternoon teas, simply plonk the cake tray at the table without any interest and suggest the ubiquitous afternoon tea to go with everything! Intercontinental sets itself apart in this regard and make the occasion feel even more special. Thank you!
We had to delay our Afternoon Tea by 1½hrs 20mins before we was due to have it and they were very understanding. Due to this delay we then needed the food very quickly as we had a train to catch, and they were very understanding and accommodated us, even boxing up some of the desserts we couldn't eat as we was full. It was a lovely meal, just a shame that we had to cut it short.
