Waterman's Restaurant has a terrific low key ambiance and has been serving seafood to patrons for years. Consider ordering the salmon, which is grilled to perfection and served over a bed of rice, as it comes highly recommended by many. All of this and more is what makes Waterman's Restaurant such a special place.
Waterman's Restaurant offers a waterfront DockBar on the ground level that hosts a comfortable open-air bar with music, dancing and great drinks. Pull up to Waterman's Restaurant via Waterman's Marina on your boat if you so desire. Your boating attire is acceptable and even encouraged.

Expensive for what you get.
They charge you if you want bread and if you are two couples with separate checks they charge you $4 extra for that.
Go to Landry's down town for a better dinner .
Not impressed with the limited menu. Listed as a pricey venue, it didn’t impress me at all.
Waterman's was one of those restaurants that I have been looking forward to visiting so we went for my birthday celebration. Wow, what a disappointment. The food was mediocre to say the least and it certainly wasn't anything to brag about and actually, it really was very bland tasting. And priced through the roof! 5 shrimp with a spoonful of seafood stuffing on the top, cold mixed vegetables and a scoop of mashed potatoes for $28?!?! Totally ridiculous. We both had a martini - mine came with a mosquito in it....assuming that was no extra charge but at least they cheerfully remade the drink. The martini was $8 and I'm wondering if there was any alcohol in it. Sure didn't seem like it.
You had to pay an extra $3 for "bread service" which was a small loaf of bread with a tiny bowl of garlic butter. I definitely will never return to this restaurant and I certainly will not recommend it to anyone else.
Loved it! Great food and beautiful view of the water. Our server Owen was awesome too.
The food was good however, red snapper was “market price”. Two plates was $128!
Would love to see dairy free, gluten free menu options
Fantastic food, and atmosphere. Inside has been upgraded with super nice chairs and tables. Menu, bar, food, and service were awesome.
Great place, ample portions, and a wonderfully complex range of flavors. Well exceeded our expectations. Our wait staff was attentive but not intruding, (Angela deserves 5 stars)
Not enough staff to wait tables in a timely matter - like everywhere these days
Great place to eat. It is easy to get to and the band downstairs was awesome.
Tatiana, our server was OUTSTANDING! It got super busy and the kitchen was verrrrrry backed up! She was absolutely swamped and yet handled it with tremendous grace and professionalism!!!
I had the blackened redfish, 2nd time, excellent! Fresh shrimp cocktail is great too as well as any if the drinks on the cocktail menu. I especially like the Bayside Mojito.
First time here as we are trying new locations. Great service, food and view. One of my top 5.
The service didn’t match the price of the food. Our server was not knowledgeable about daily specials, or prices. Very casual service. We indicated it was a special occasion on our reservation and there was NO acknowledgement of that.
I felt for a seafood restaurant there were not a lot of fish options and prices were $40+ for two options they had available.
Took my BFF there for her birthday! We had a great time and loved where we sat. Our server, I think her name was Ashley, was so sweet and friendly. She ckd in on us perfectly and made sure we had everything we needed while we were there. Thanks!
Great food and atmosphere
Our waiter and the ambiance made the meal. Sparkling clean crystal added to the ambiance. So refreshing these days. Our waiter was brand new but he did very well. The food is mainly fried. Not a plus for me but the seafood platter was enough for both of us and very tasty. The Watermans salad and oysters were my favorite. The fried goat cheese really added to the flavor of the salad so well. The view for sunset is spectacular. Worth the drive off the beaten path. No clue this hidden gem existed until last night.
We sat on the deck and it was perfect! Nice (fan) breeze and the manager made sure citronella candles were at every table and next to the chairs when dusk came to ward off mosquitos! We appreciated the extra effort. The food is always great and the service is just as good and attentive. A perfect Saturday evening!
Wonderful as always. Food, service and atmosphere were wonderful. Love this place and visit on every trip to the island.
Anniversary we made reservations through open door also called to to request a bottle of champagne the girl said she would have one ready for us. Got there told them via message through open door and when we got there too. Well no champagne !! So we ordered a dozen oysters to start and now since we have no champagne we order a cocktail. I ordered a cucumber martini my husband ordered old fashion the waitress told us we had hard time finding the mix. Well it was it was the nastiest cocktail I have ever had
The crackers where all crushed but went ahead and finished the oysters. Did not drink the nasty drink. Now the waitress ask what we want for dinner never ask is the drink any good because obviously I pushed it away and was not drinking it. Then we ordered dinner I ask if I substitute the scallops on my dish or just leave them off she real emphatically oh our chef does not substitute.. so at this point I am done. We just ask for our check she comes back and said since it’s your anniversary the chef said he will make an exception.. well too
Late ready to go else where. Paid our $70 which was
The biggest rip off ever. My husband and the manager exchanged a few words but the manager never offered anything but had the nerve to ask who would ever book a reservation a week in advance.. stupid question not even worth discussing.. I would stay clear of this place.. rude inconsiderate not prepared unprofessional
This was our second visit to Waterman’s. Outstanding food and excellent service. Our thanks to Bryan and Angela who were our servers!
The view was beautiful and the food was great. Loved the shrimp kisses! Our server was new but did a great job and was very nice!
There are very few dining establishments on the west end of Galveston Island. Waterman's has been around for quite a while, and for good reason. While it's not the Four Seasons, the food is quite good, and the staff are wonderfully attentive. The atmosphere is casual, but you will be welcome whether you're wearing shorts and t-shirts or a tuxedo. Of course, why you would wear a tuxedo at the beach is your business.
Pecan crusted snapper for the win! Also shrimp beso. Lovely staff all around. It’s not a chintzy marina restaurant, it’s classy and well appointed. Enjoy!
Fun with my son and his GF! Reminded us of Pirates Cove stays all through his childhood!!!
As usual the food is great and so is the view!
Great service with great food. Prices are comparable.
Very expensive for mediocre quality of food. One of our dishes had a hair in it. Replacement meal arrived after the rest of our table was finished eating. Service was terribly slow and inattentive - we had to remind our server about drinks and side dishes although plenty of staff standing around chatting among themselves. Beautiful view.
Our waiter was absolutely incredible!!! We come to Waterman’s VERY often because we live in Spanish Grant! We had visitors in from Kansas and wanted them to have a wonderful seafood dinner! Everything was delicious and we certainly were proud to have taken them to Waterman’s!!!
Our servers on separate occasions - Sparkle and Tatianna - were friendly, efficient, and accommodating. The furniture including the upholstered chairs add to a phenomenal balance of a higher end yet casual atmosphere. Menu is just right too. Our food was served so nicely and was just delicious. The view of the sunsets made an already great evening even better!
The Coconut shrimp was over cooked, we drove 45 minutes to end up disappointed…..maybe someone in the kitchen should read the menu where it describes the dish as “lightly” fried…..
Nicely decorated, good service, good food, wonderful view.
The positive reviews I read about Waterman’s were absolutely on point! This place has a great view of the water, nice ambiance, friendly staff and good food selection. Seafood, gumbo and steaks are among the selections . And don’t pass up the dessert menu! I highly suggest making a reservation if you’re going on the weekend. Waterman’s is a must go!
Better view at sunset/night. Great experience. Food is good.
Food was excellent. Prices were higher than before the pandemic.
Food was fair, not up to seafood restaurants I frequent in Houston. A bit pricey $45 for a small snapper and what's with $3 for bread service? Most places gladly throw that in as an incentive to come back. Service was well above average. I will return but order fried seafood not mkt. price.
Good Ambiance and service but food is over priced and nothing to write home about .
unfortunately this visit was really bad. Food was undercooked and 3 out of our party of 7 were ill. My husband and I have been dining here over 10 years and have never had this low quality of food. It was my husbands birthday dinner. Very disappointing!
Outrageously overpriced. Service very slow. Took 30 min for drinks to arrive
Stuffed shrimp arrived cold. Fried oysters 90% hard breading. Actually not sure if there were ANY oysters at all. Third dinner 20 min later than the rest. Salad soggy and swimming in dressing.
Manager seemed disheveled and 1/2 looped. Finally came over and said we could have a desert?
