I've been here a number of times (and been very happy) and the latest visit was on Mother's Day, which is always a bit of a lottery as places try to fit in lots of people. However, from the moment we arrived through to the moment we left, the service fell way short of what I have come to expect from this establishment, which is a shame for the kitchen staff who put on an excellent array of food for our afternoon tea. The details: we were asked to wait in reception to be escorted to our table. When we were taken, there was no table for us. So we were, eventually, taken back to reception. The waiter did not know what teas were available, didn't understand a request for a pot of coffee, rather than tea and didn't offer my daughter a soft drink alternative when she said she doesn't drink tea or coffee. When the bill was requested, it took us standing up to leave to actually make the staff take notice of us. Desperately disappointing.

Warren house never disappoints! From the warm and friendly staff to the delicious food, a treat for any occasion. I was unable to make Mother’s Day this year so booked afternoon tea for my Mother and partner. I called to see how it had gone and they were both gushing with praise for the afternoon they had had. Many thanks to all at Warren House!

The WORST AFTERNOON TEA experience. What a waste of money. £150 for disgusting sandwiches, stale dry pastries and packet bought treats. No tea spoons, only wooden stirrers. Cold tea and charged for extra jam which was definitely cheap jar bought jam. So unimpressed and disappointed. Booked for Mother’s Day and left feeling hungry and scammed. Avoid at all costs.

Poor experience on mother's day. Staff unaware on how to serve, no selection of teas, no bubbles offer aa described, had to request twice. Plain hot water was brought instead of tea. Not what we were expecting for a special day like mother's day at all and the price we paid.

A beautiful venue but disappointing ambience, food and service. Food is very expensive for the standard provided. Service friendly and polite but not very professional for an establishment of this nature. Almost empty on a Friday lunchtime. Would not recommend or visit unless things change which is a shame as there is great potential.

We came here for afternoon tea some time ago and really enjoyed it. This time wasn’t as good although still reasonably enjoyable. The hotel seems to have changed hands so there were some points that could have been better: The tea room whilst pleasant enough feels very empty and the colours are cold which makes the room feel cooler than it is. Not a “cosy” spot for afternoon tea. The tea itself lacked the ceremony of our last visit - perfectly reasonable pot of tea but didn’t feel particularly special. They were able to deal with a dietary requirement without issue, except it would have been nicer to be offered a choice for the replacement sandwich rather than just providing an extra ham one. The children’s afternoon tea was better value than the adults although we had to ask them to replace the scones as they brought fruit scones rather than the advertised plain ones. The plain ones when they came could have broken a window, they were so rock hard. We ended up picking the fruit out of a softer one for our son. We were offered boxes to take out the leftovers but we’re then asked to sign a document to say we wouldn’t sue them if the leftovers made anyone I’ll. absolutely ridiculous and neither party would have a case in that situation. Not sure we would return, better experiences elsewhere I think. A shame because it’s a lovely spot and the garden looks lovely.

Arrived to an empty dining room and handed an all day menu and told that they couldn’t serve the menu advertised as they had a function on. It was my husbands birthday dinner so naturally I was annoyed. Told them they shouldn’t have accepted my booking. Went somewhere else. Will think twice about booking here again

It was my 60 th birthday meal and I would have expected a bit more of an effort - the tablet decorations were sparse and all plastic - there could have been some real twigs or real candles. The service was unsure - staff needed to be called to the table all the time and did not keep much of an eye on us. When several in the group wanted to exchange the complimentary wine with cranberry juice there was a lot of 'have to ask the manager' which felt uncomfortable ~~~~No music whatsoever which at Christmas is not necessary - it lacked atmosphere and warmth The food was ok but it would have been nice if there would have been some bowls with extra greens like the Brussel Sprouts and not only exactly the 4 allocated per plate - the gravy was very thick probably because it was kept warm somewhere.. I hope it will be better when I celebrate my 60 th birthday bash on the 8.4. in Warren House

We love afternoon tea and having experienced one at Warren House a few years before I had an expectation. There were relative few people enjoying afternoon tea probably because of the time of year. The sandwiches were small but still tasty, the scones cooled quickly and the clotted cream was thin and liquid like, we asked for more cream and generously given two extra scones. The selection of cakes was varied but we drank so much breakfast tea we couldn’t finish them all. It would have been lovely with a glass of bubbles but we didn’t indulge on this occasion - we didn’t try the Christmas Afternoon Tea but it looked nice. The bar area was very lively indeed and well attended with lots of happy guests. Attentive staff and we had a pleasant afternoon

afternoon tea on a friday. Food good but a little sweet heavy. We were not expected at front desk but apparently at restaurant. Service a little slow. Main irritation was some sort of photo shoot taking place around us, no consideration from management or the people doing the shoot, talking loudly, giving out instructions to wait staff for positioning, moving around with lights and equipment etc. We were treating our friends to this tea and it was a great disappointment. I though that new management could improve on the shambles of previous but obs no!

Some of the best food I've had in a long time. Really tasty and elegantly put together. I had three courses and I am hard to please when it comes to food but I finished every plate. Nice wine (I had the Chardonnay) and the dessert which was a vegan chocolate tart was outstanding. Quiet which was perfect for us as we were having a small board meeting. Light jazz music, great ambience and lighting and I really appreciated the classy Christmas lights. Thoroughly enjoyed. My only suggestion for improvement would be stop asking us if we want the bill! We'll say when we do. If you are closing and need us to leave by a certain time just say that. Thank you for a lovely evening otherwise.

This is our 3rd time dining in their restaurant and I avail the afternoon tea sets. Wish I have big appetite so I can enjoy all the foods and drinks. Their food presentation is so nice and all delicious. The best part is, you can try all their different tea flavours. I only drank 2 kinds of tea and champagne, can't take more of it as I'm super full. My son loves the beef burger while husband loves his Chicken Tikka Massala. 😊

The bar is pleasant enough for a pre-dinner drink, though we had our suspicions about what the restaurant would be like when we saw how battered the bar menus were. The dining room may be fine when packed for weddings, but was quite cold, empty and and lacked any atmosphere as a restaurant. The lighting was extremely bright/harsh. They brought out a different wine to what we ordered and were reluctant to take it back. It turned out they only had TWO of appropriately 15 white wines listed in stock. The starters (scallops, terrine) were quite poor and certainly nothing like what you’d expect for £15. My wife loves scallops and didn’t finish. The lobster linguine main was fine, but the other main was completely inedible. The asparagus hadn’t been trimmed so was woody at one end, but was completely mushy and had lost its colour at the other. The halibut portion was huge, but overcooked, dry and exceedingly salty. The saffron mash potato was overpowering to the point of being unpleasant - and I had requested fries in any case. One waiter was pleasant and tried his best but the other was unhelpful and incompetent. We left and ordered a takeaway at home. It was probably the worst restaurant experience I’ve had in the last 10 years.

The meal was really poor, lobster linguine was greasy and chewy and fairly inedible. Halibut was £39 for a small piece of poorly cooked fish with a streak of dried up mashed potato and three tiny pieces of carrot. Service was poor, we asked for water and no glasses were brought to drink it. But we spoke to the manageress next day who was very helpful and responded extremely well. The actual hotel services were very good.

My Mother and I had a delightful afternoon tea at Warren House. Because the weather was cold and wet the tea was taken indoors and we sat next to a magnificent Persian tiled fireplace. The two waitresses were charming and attentive making a particular effort with my 92 year old disabled Mother. The lovely cakes defeated us and we were able to take them home in a box. A lovely experience.

The overall atmosphere was lovely. Food was good . Staff was polite. Only issue was that service was slow , even though there was only one other table. As well, at the end of our meal we asked for the dessert menu and promptly ordered. About 5 minutes later we were told that as it was 9:30 the kitchen was closed! Shouldn’t have this been stated prior ? I could understand if we had arrived at 9:30, but we had been there since 8:00, and we had been handed a dessert menu . Good customer policy would dictate full beginning to end service, specially since we waited quite some time at the beginning of the evening to start our meal.

Potential to be a wonderful experience with the look of the venue and helpfulness of the staff. Even the slice of cake and Happy Birthday written on the plate and sung were special. Our special dietary requirements were written down and ignored. Double portion of sandwiches were given but still not fully recognising the dietary requirements. We travelled an hour to get to the venue and left feeling disappointed.

Unfortunately the service was not great. The servers were nice but it was very slow and they mixed up the drinks with our order do there was confusion as the servers weren’t consistent. Not a big deal but for the price you pay, you expect a better level of service.

Let’s start with the setting. We ate outside which was lovely. The hire has beautiful gardens with a fountain and a lovely ambience. Absolutely idyllic. Service however was a very hit and miss/inattentive. Clearly they’ve had staffing issues like many hotels and restaurants post-Brexit and COVID, however, they have a very premium pricing menu so it’s something g that really needs sorting. The service wasn’t the only let-down though. Again, the pricing (circa £15 for a starter and between £20-£45 for a main) sets an expectation that it’s going to be pretty good. It turned out to be pretty average-to-OK. More the kind of food you’d expect with a price point of £10 for a starter and £15-£28 tops. Also, the wines weren’t cheap and what we had (an Italian CabSav) was actually very average. Wouldn’t rush back.

He service we could not fault, very attentive and on top of things. Afternoon tea was a nice, quiet experience with wonderful ambience outside. The grounds are stunning and the house is so beautiful. The only complaint we have is that as it was so hot we ordered a cold drink instead of coffee/tea and we had to pay for them. The afternoon tea was a gift and it just felt wrong that we had to pay extra.
