Great food and service - wonderful place to celebrate a birthday with friends
As always we love dining in Wallys everything is always really good from food to service. Thank you.
Wonderful evening. Great food ambience and live music.
The food is OUTSTANDING with ambiance to match!
Great ambiance, owner stopped by twice during meal to say hello, wonderful first impression
We have been dining at Wally's for various special occasions for about 10 years. The wait staff, bartenders and chefs are outstanding. The owner often is in attendance and visits guests as an enhanced follow up to Wally's stellar service. We look forward to our next visit.
The most beautiful and elegant restaurant in the desert.
We celebrate a 101st birthday and had wonderful service and food.
A night to remember!
Excellent food and outstanding service ! All you could ask for and definitely finish your meal with a soufflé
Expensive but delivers in every way.
My favorite go to place before theatre. Whole menu is superb.
Wally's is an upscale restaurant with fabulous food and excellent service but the noise level makes conversation very difficult. I'm not sure how this can be remedied, but I'm sure it can be improved with a sound engineering consultant!
We come to Palm Desert annually and always dine here knowing that the entire dining experience will be delightful.
For a lounge-based dinner experience it can’t be beat....food prepared beautifully and deliciously, service excellent, soft live background music and excellent value with fixed price meals. The experience was made even more special by the staff’s and chef’s recognition of our wedding anniversary.
Service was impeccable, never an empty water glass nor wine glass. Very nice, romantic evening. Mirrors all over the place and waiters were in black and white. The food was really fine and a happy birthday desert was very nice treat and unexpected.
Hello Steve! Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are glad to hear you had a wonderful experience here for your birthday. We take pride in making sure every guest leaves happy. We hope to see you again soon!
What a pleasant surprise! I did not know what to expect, just went with the online description, and what a pleasant find! The ambience, the setting et al, was as suggested in the website. The service was exquisite, the food was superb, I had the seabass and scallops cooked to perfection. What an enjoyable dining experience … bravo!
Hi Freddie! Thank you so much for your review, We are pleased to hear how much you enjoyed your dinner. We hope you come back and visit again soon!
Exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend
If the rumors are true that at the end of the “season” they are going to sell or just close it will be a great loss for the desert community.
Wonderful service and food.
My wife and I are fish and steak people. This was our first time at Wally’s. Typically it is Maestros or LGs. We both commented that our meals at Wally’s reminded us of wedding fare. Her Dover Sole (apparently the specialty) was tough and my medium rare filet was medium. We should have sent them back but we were kind of feeling like we’d rather end the disappointment. I started the meal with an uninspired French onion soup. We also each had house Manhattans as a starter cocktail which were also not in the top 20 of manhattans we’ve had. Couple all this with their relatively high prices, we are crossing Wally’s off for future fine dining.
It clearly has a very loyal upscale clientele that must like the menu crafted in the 1980s and not changed much since then. Plenty of other places in the valley for a fine meal.
Sorry to be so harsh. But at $200 for a meal, we expect more.
Our evening reminded me of the genteel dining of years ago. Service was just right and the food was spectacular! The braised pork was divine! We each ordered a chocolate soufflé but should have shared one. It was delightfully decadent. It was a perfect evening in an elegant setting.
Hello! Thank you for choosing to dine with us. We are pleased to hear everything went so well. The food is delicious and we are glad you enjoyed it. We hope you continue to come back and experience all Wally's has to offer. Thank you again.
One of the next places to go for fine dining in the Coachella Valley. Luxurious atmosphere, suited servers, great cocktails (order a martini and a Manhattan and you will get a small carafe if your drinks overfill), and a large selection of French fare. A great night out!!
Hi Fred! We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your dinner and appreciate your review. Thank you and hope to see you again soon!
Fabulous time. Delicious entrees.
And an entertaining fashion show.
Most beautiful dining experience.
Absolutely best service.
Gracious host .
Food was excellent. Service was poor and the server was quite rude and grumpy.
I had the best scallops and sea bass ever, and the dessert was also amazing. The music, the waiters, singing happy birthday to me, the entire atmosphere was very pleasant.
Hi Joana! Thank you for choosing to spend your birthday with us! We are glad to hear everything went so well and appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. We hope to see you again soon.
Wally’s is one of the finest restaurants I’ve dined in in Southern California. I can’t say enough how special this place is. I sincerely hope that they will continue their excellence in the years to come.
Hello Carl. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We also hope to continue to be here for years to come. Can't wait to see you again soon!
Outstanding dining experience.
As usual, attention to detail and consummate care was an n display, a true gem in our valley. If you’ve never experienced this restaurant it should be a bucket list item.
After reading good reviews, we were very disappointed with our experience at Wally’s. The service was terrible — it took 20 minutes for someone to bring over a menu and thereafter the service could best be described as indifferent.
The food was even more disappointing. Absolutely everything was under seasoned — this is food for people who are more concerned with their salt intake than having a decent tasting meal. The fat on the duck breast was not rendered at all, yet the duck was still overcooked. I absolutely would not go back to Wally’s.
It was our first visit. It is very much an older crowd but the food and service were fantastic!
This is a hard review to write. We have gone to Wally’s every year and I’ve written glowing reviews every time. Tonight was extremely disappointing. We flew in last night so we decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day tonight. I made the reservation 5 weeks ago. We arrived on time and couldn’t get near the hostess bc it was so out of control packed. 3 deep at the bar too. The woman who checked us in said it’ll be a wait. My husband noticed people walking in and sometimes getting seated so after 40 minutes he stood over her until we got a table which was not set yet. Our waiter had way too many tables and took 22 minutes between us ordering and him serving our drinks. We split the oysters Rockefeller special appetizer which was shockingly tasteless. But our dinners Seabass n scallops and whitefish were outstanding. The busboy, however, really worked hard. No apology or attempts to make up were offered. Sort of a your tough luck attitude. Very disappointing.
The overall experience was poor. A server different than ours took our order, and he was abrupt and did not pay attention to our special requests. We asked for no butter on our Dover Sole (a $60 piece of fish) and asked that the almonds for the almandine topping be with olive oil instead of butter, so we were brought almonds in butter plus olive oil on the side. We didn't realize until we started eating, and had to have it redone. The drinks were very slow in coming, and for those who ordered just club soda they were charged $4 per glass of club soda, a total of $16 for 4 glasses. They didn't pay attention to when we needed new cutlery because of food being redone. The next table had some meals comped because of errors. Despite having politely shared our poor experience with the owner, nothing was done to try and make up for the situation. The final thing was when the bills were not separated per couple as requested at the beginning of the evening, and it took a surprisingly long time to get the separated bills (as did our coffee after eating). And the men's room had no paper towels. We are unlikely to return. A pricey menu deserves a comparable level of service.
Everything was perfect as usual.
Will return for sure.
Hi Alan! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are pleased to hear you will return. See you soon!
We were seated 30 mins after reservation time. Served with BROKEN champagne glasses for our Valentine’s dinner. Will never come back.
Great food. Valentines day was very busy but they kept the food coming out smoothly
. . . . but not on Valentins day ! Table 30 Minutes late, Bar and Restaurant far too crowded, factory like ! Service overloaded far from personal ! We will attend again but not on a special occasion day, on a ordinary working day only, with great pleasure !

It was a preset menu for Valentine's. There was something for everyone. The taste was fantastic and service very good. They were packed, Valentine's, so maybe a little slower than normal, but overall great experience. There were 6 in our party and we really enjoyed it.
My Wife and enjoyed Valentines Day Diner. It was fantastic!!!
All was as expected except the chateaubriand. It was full of gristle--not what's expected for a cut of this quality.
