So much fun!! Happened on this on a girls trip and it was perfect. Great entertainment, good food and service. A great night out.
We are long time diners at Vanessie's and had not been there since the virus arrived. Like many places, felt they were still struggling with increased crowds. Drink service was slow and menu was a little different. Entertainment was good, except a little loud. Will try again soon. Parking still is limited in area, but evening was nice for a short walk. We had visitors from Nevada, so it was a nice experience for them.
A meal with a piano is a perfect ambiance for us. The pasta dishes were fantastic!
The female vocalist and male pianist were wonderful. Food was so so. Over cooked lamb- ordered rare- received well done. Service was slow and not very attentive.
Fine food, comfortable atmosphere, impeccable service!
What a surprise this was. We thought we were going to just a ‘dinner’. This dinner came with a piano player and singer that was wonderful. We had no idea this was a piano bar the entertainment was amazing. The manager,Miguel, was very attentive and sang a few beautiful songs ! The food was delicious! I had the Sole, and it was perfect! I would go back here! Beautiful setting!
The pianist not Doug Was outstanding
Loved coming to hear Doug play....
Just had truffle fries and flatbread but quite good!
Great service & evening
Food was great and Doug Montgomery always makes our evening!
Magical entertainment from piano man Doug Montgomery. Food very good and fairly priced. Staff fair, talked too much in background while Doug played. Highly recommend for date night out.
The entertainment was a bit schlocky but not bad except for a rather inebriated woman who danced around the room overwhelming the lounge singer. Food was good. Somewhat crowded.
It was a great atmosphere, live music and good food and drinks.
We had dinner at 7:30pm on Saturday, March 20, 2021. The restaurant was crowded and there was no one to greet us at the door to sit us based on the OT reservation. Once seated, it was obvious that the server had too many tables to cover and thus our experience as not great because the server failed to place our entrée order until we inquired. However, in an effort to make it right, the restaurant comped our appetizer. The crowds are starting to gather as Covid19 is hopefully under control. The piano bar was fun and lively. We will likely not return as there are other Santa Fe area restaurants that we prefer.
If I could give the food and service zero stars I would. Waited forever for food, even though it was not busy at all, to get a burnt piece of chicken and a raw steak with not even a whiff of flavor. Even the mashed potatoes were inedible.
Great service and great foos - plus the piano player was exceptional!
What a great night out with friends. I cannot wait to plan something like that at Vanessie again!
Our reservation through OpenTable never happened. The app give us a time of 9pm - which happened to be their closing time. Obviously a lapse in communication.
Service was lackluster. Entertainment was good as Doug usually is.
I would not recommend this restaurant. We waited for half an hour after being seated, asked four different people if we could get a server to come over and nobody came. After half an hour we ended up leaving. This place is unorganized, unprofessional, and not worth your time or money.
Best COVID set up I’ve seen yet, but a tent, closed on all sides is still an enclosed room.
We have been Doug Montgomery fans for 25+ years so have seen a lot of people, staff and patrons, come and go. We probably average at least one night a week throughout the year dining and enjoying the music. If they could just get their wine list in order we would have absolutely nothing to complain about, but that always seems to be a work in progress. The food is very good but Doug on the piano and guest artists really make the experience exciting and memorable. In the midst of this pandemic, they have done a wonderful job with social distancing tables and careful in handling food and drinks brought to the table. We will be back!!
During challenging times, the restaurant has proven to be creative and accommodating to its guests without losing its central focus on great food, ambiance and of course, Doug Montgomery.
All was delicious. Service impeccable and ambiance fabulous. The live music on Saturday night was the icing on the Apple pie a la mode!
We had a reservation but no table was available when we got there. They did set up a table for us but the service thereafter was almost non-existent. Perhaps when we were seated at the new table, we did not fall into anyone's "territory". Entertainment was great.
Due to COVID, the hours changed and they moved the piano bar outside. All tables were full and they only had two servers working the floor/tent. The manager should have stepped in to assist with drink orders or something. We were there for my birthday. We got up and left. We couldn’t even get the server’s attention to get our check so we left money on the table. Probably way overpaid for the one drink we had. Didn’t get a chance to order food. Others were getting frustrated with the lack of staff.
Obviously struggling due to Covid 19. Relocated to tent in parking lot which is understandable and forced Doug to utilize electronic piano. Excellent entertainment anyway. 3 of 4 plates were mediocre, one being very good. Service was absolutely most disorganized and slowest I have experienced. I would return when things, hopefully, return to more normal. Staffing is clearly a major issue.
Always enjoy Doug Montgomery. The food is good and drinks are nice, but we go to Vanessie's to see Doug!

The food and service were great! We loved the entertainment - Doug Montgomery!!!! His music was so fun and the audience participation made it ever better! We had so much fun the first time on Saturday night that we had to go back for Sunday night!!!!!
You need to go when Doug Montgomery is playing. He is the best!! He plays Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. A fun place to go where friends meet friends.
We walked in and the staff ignored us. Once we were seated (right in front of the piano speakers) our water glasses were delivered by a child (11-12 years old). Both glasses had lipstick stains on them. We were moved to a different table away from the speakers and delivered two more water glasses which still had lipstick stains. The child was continually working the entire room, busing tables and delivering water. Out of 4 visible staff members (5 if you include the minor) only 2 of them wore gloves. We ordered a crab cake appetizer which came out with two cakes, both of which were cooked differently and tasted horrible. The only bright spot was the live entertainment.
Never got service. Finally left.
We came to hear Doug Montgomery and he never disappoints.
I would like to reserve table #5 for Sunday the 23rd at 6:00 for four people.
Have been going to Vanessie for years to listen to Doug. Sometimes we are not fond of the food but tonight it was excellent. A great evening under a tent, listening to Doug, attentive wait staff even while it was pouring rain. Will go again.
We hadn’t been to Vanessie’s in quite a few years and were pleasantly surprised. Service attentive and the new menu appealing. From the lamb chops to sole to beef ribs with pasta— everyone enjoyed their entree. Beet salads were great! We had the pot de creme and even though I wouldn’t classify it as a classic it was excellent.
When we got there, no table was available and they hurriedly set up a rickety table and the used dirty glasses slid off. They crowded the table in so much that no one could move their chairs out. We asked for another table and they gave us one after a long wait and never set it. The waiter was friendly and the food was excellent but the service was very poor. The orders were incorrect and I could go on...
We loved it! Doug Montgomery is worth the trip to Santa Fe ! If you do not do anything else - go to see him !
It was my tenth anniversary and my wife and I
Love the onion loaf! So good. Really like the sing alongs - miss Bob.
Great place! Packed with happy patrons.
