Lovely atmosphere and top notch service. We highly enjoyed our dinner! The fish was super fresh. Melt in your mouth fresh and our waitress and host were lovely and extremely accommodating. We had a reservation for 9 and although we arrived early, the hostess worked her magic and was able to seat us in a packed restaurant. The courtyard dining area is super cool with Polynesian vibes. Highly recommend this local gem. So much better than all the hotel hyped restaurants. It is a bit pricey, but we’ll worth it.
Very good. Service was great, atmosphere was quieter than most but still comfortable, and the food was amazing. It is very expensive but worth every penny.
Don’t go there hungry unless you’re ready to spend a lot . And watch out for those $24 martinis!
Really quaint place with good sushi. Very limited menu and slow bar service but a great experience overall.
Disappointed by the selection of sushi. The hamachi was fishy even with the over kill of sauce. The selection is limited with only a few choices of your standard sushi. Really not worth the visit.
Excellent food. Service was good. The food came out quickly. The atmosphere was upbeat. Delicious food that was fresh and simple. Sushi was not over complicated or commercialized. Overall great food, service and atmosphere.
Food was “good”. Service was subpar. Multiple occasions we were asked if we wanted something (eg dessert) and we’d need a minute, but the server never returned. We likely would have ordered more food and drink, but never had the opportunity. It wasn’t particularly busy when we were there.
Also, Open Table offered a seating at 9pm, but the hot kitchen closes at 9:15. If we had known this, we would have done something different. I don’t necessarily fault the restaurant, but seating 15 minutes before a portion of the kitchen closes is no bueno.
Overall, a great place. Drinks were really good and food imaginative. The grilled vegetables were excellent. Tuna poke was more like tartare and scallops in the scallops dynamite were over cooked
Best sushi I’ve ever had. So fresh. Delicious. Everything was plated and presented beautifully. The service was excellent! So glad we came here. Worth every penny!
Too expensive for the finest of portions of food. Great service & ambiance .
First the good, great drinks and ambiance. Second, food was lifeless and mediocre at best. Very poor value for the high cost.
Freshest fish we’ve found on the island! So tasty and unique pairings that push you to explore further! Keep up the great, creative menu guys!
Very expensive, we spent more here than at Morimoto's and got only a fraction the quality. Just a small selection of options. Only 6 or 7 types of fish on the sashimi menu.
Excellent food and cocktails! Service a tad slow, but really nice servers and hosts.
Very cool atmosphere. Great for dates, special occasions or everyday dining.
We visited for a double birthday celebration and the staff was kind enough to offer us free Mahi, it was delicious, as was the complementary birthday mochi! The ambience and service was bar none.
Our daughter’s engagement celebration - very memorable experience!
We really enjoyed the chef’s special.
Beautiful, elegant, artful… for the decor, drinks, and food. Not gonna sugar coat it though, expensive for the delicate morsels you enjoy. Go there to be charmed not to gorge yourself on over riced sushi.
We were fortunate enough to secure a reservation five minutes before we were seated. We asked Lindsay, a member of the Vana team who took our orders, for recommendations and everything we ordered turned out to be exceptional. The quality, preparation and delivery of the food spells “excellence” in every way. This is definitely a restaurant we will be coming back to during our visit in Maui.
Food was ok. Very neat little restaurant but please be warned... don't book anything but outdoor seating. If you book standard you will be stuck in a small featureless room in the back of the restaurant with about 5 tables and next to the restroom. The outdoor seating looks wonderful. The indoor seating does not compare. We asked if we there was an outdoor table available and were told by two separate employees that they were all reserved. Then another table was sat near us (in the indoor portion) and they also asked to be moved to an outdoor table. They were initially declined as well, but then 5 minutes later were moved to a much better outdoor location. This ticked me off for the remainder of the meal. I wish I could say that the food made up for it, but in the end it was fairly bland and overpriced. Not a bad place if you are on a date because the outdoor seating is beautiful in and of itself. But don’t go expecting to be blown away by the food and don’t book “standard” seating.
Amazing Food and Service and DRINKS
The only reason I gave it a 4 was because of the the small menu! Definitely a place to go and was worth the drive to Paia from Lāhainā in rush hour traffic!! LOL
Wonderful experience. Fun vibe, great service and food!
Beautiful setting outdoors and really good sushi and cocktails.
The service was amazing and the food and drinks were excellent
Grocery store sushi at Nobu prices. Like, INSANE prices, and I live in NYC. Literally went to Safeway earlier this week and had better sushi. The rice tasted like it was made hours ago. The shiitake skewer was burnt, dry and unseasoned. The fish was okay quality, but for a restaurant 20 feet from the ocean, we expected more. Spent almost $200 and we left hungry and disappointed.
The service was not good, the food was overpriced for what is was, it’s nothing exceptional regarding the quality of the rolls and the rest of the plates we tried on the menu
There are some iffy reviews. We had an excellent experience, the food was great, service quick and attentive the ambiance excellent. It is noisy, so if you’re a middle aged man like me, just know that an intimate conversation might be a bit to a challenge. Highly recommend when you want to celebrate something as this was expensive but very worth it!!
Don’t go if you’re hungry unless you are willing to spend 500 maybe. Drinks are $18 with no alcohol. Food portions are for the birds and there was no flavor to anything ordered…. It is not worth the hype, which is a shame because they have a great spot.
Our first moments upon arrival were awkward. We arrived on time folks our reservation, but we were asked to wait outside in the rain even though there were large areas of the restaurant that were empty.
We were then seated at a table right next to where they stored server trays. So close, that the person busing the food knocked over trays into my partner’s chair.
It was just awkward and unwelcoming.
Our server was good, gave great recommendations, and was one of two redeeming things about this visit. The second were the cocktails- which were excellent. We made some last minute resos for happy hour- and they did that well.
All in all, it was not a the romantic experience i was hoping for while in Paia. We had a second reservation for dinner that I canceled just because this wasn’t a great experience.
We have had sushi across the world, and this was the most over priced, stringy pieces of sashimi and nigiri we’ve ever had. We were still hungry after $15”. Drinks on point though and our server was very nice.
A fun way to celebrate graduation….the food was delicious and the service fantastic….we will certainly be back again.
First ones at the door and we were seated at the very back room closest to the restroom of all the tables available.
Then a group of family seated around us in this small room.
There was a fly around and ended up in my wine glass. Not a very clean place to be dining. Poor ventilation.
Very mediocre sushi… One roll was particularly distasteful. Very small portions (almost thankfully!), and priced like the “hip” place it aspires to be. Server “forgot“ one item of our order.
Great food and eclectic ambiance
Lovely ambiance, but limited menu. For the prices, I was expecting more of a "wow" factor. I've had better sushi, with better presentation, many places in New York.
My family and I have gone for sushi dinners regularly over the years... and this place wins for the most over priced, under valued, sushi we have seen. Not complaining, their food was good, but if you want to feed your family, prepared to spend $100 a head for sushi easy! Welcome to Maui.
Amazing ambiance and wonderful food!!
Great service, beautiful environment, really good food. What more can you ask for.
