My favorite find in Traverse City. Compliments to the chef for the best tasting dishes I’ve tried thus far. The waiter was well informed and guided us in choosing amazing dishes. I would give this restaurant more than 5 stars if I could.
Waited 10 minutes for the waitress to come to the table, ordered drinks and food at the same time. She brought the bread basket when we were half way done with our dinner.
Trattoria Stella serves consistently delicious food. Even though the wine list is greatly shortened due to COVID, their wine selections are great. Service was excellent and I felt that they take COVID safety very seriously. Great dining experience as always!
The service was excellent!
My wife and I visited to celebrate her birthday. The experience was wonderful. We enjoyed every menu item that we ordered, and the service is top notch. We plan to visit Trattoria Stella any time that we enjoy a vacation in Traverse City!
The food and drinks were excellent. High recommend the soup and monkfish dish.
Amazing food, very accommodating for food allergies. Highly recommended
Wonderful staff, excellent food and always consistent.
Great 👍😊good food great service 👏
Amazing food and service!
Excellent service after a slow start — in this difficult Covid era, Stella’s has done a superior job of making the dining experience as close to perfection as possible. Menu did a good job of fitting between nouveau and traditional Italian. Weren’t offered the wine book (a work of art in its own right) so missed out on some interesting choices. Interesting cocktails. A first time diner should not hesitate to ask about a tasting menu or substitution to sides; server didn’t ask about allergies. Despite these missteps, the rest of the service and the food was competitive with top drawer restaurants. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Absolutely the BEST food I’ve ever had. Maybe I’m exaggerating, but the taste of the food was like pure ecstacy. Absolutely wonderful service too.
The pizza was fantastic, the soup was amazing enough to get the recipe and we will go back every time we are in TC
date night for wide and i, been here a bunch, never fails , staff and menu are always too notch!
As always, great food, great service. Every trip to Traverse City deserves a stop here.
Fabulous food amazing setting and wonderful service
The burratta appetizer was out of this world delicious. Our waitress Catherine was so friendly and wonderful. We loved her. We also enjoyed the atmosphere and ambiance. Great experience. We'll be back for sure.
All I can say was it was absolutely wonderful!
One of our favorite restaurants in Traverse City, unfortunately our visit was less than pleasant. We were celebrating as a family my 50th birthday. It was the first time we took our girls there and we were sat at the bar. Part of the ambience of this restaurant are the little rooms... the great food and the history of the restaurant. There were multiple people getting drinks right next to us, then taking their masks off a foot away from us drinking their drinks. I wouldn’t rush back here anytime soon. Less than perfect birthday celebration.
Excellent food with excellent service. My wife and I were able to enjoy every minute of our 4 course meal without feeling rushed. Our waiter was very helpful and knew what he was talking about. It was the perfect was to end the honeymoon!
Food was delicious. Drinks were fabulous and our server/bartender Shay was awesome!
First time dining here. Food was amazing. The server was knowledgeable about everything. It was such a great experience. I will be back when I visit Traverse City.
Nice atmosphere, delicious cocktails and wine selection. Our expectations for the food were really high and unfortunately we didn’t find anything that amazed us. Good flavors, but nothing stood out. My husband found the lamb tasted more like mutton and the server was extremely accommodating on exchanging for another selection.
Loved location (old asylum area), great ambiance for sharing a bottle of wine (wine list is pretty good, not great), or a three course meal. Food was outstanding. Eclectic (celery salad??-wonderfully fresh, light), chicken dish would be a reason to become a repeat guest. Short rib and pasta also very, very good. Service was a bit slow but that could be due to covid. They take covid seriously. Masks for staff, tables were minimal and spaced more than six feet apart. We felt very safe. Highly recommend.
The food was wonderful we would definitely go back ! we shared an appetizer a salad and we each had an entrée And we took home a dessert
My husband and I had a high top next to the bar. I specifically requested a standard low top table and was assured (2x) that this would happen. It ended up being ok.... Now the food, FABULOUS!!!! Drinks....FABULOUS!!! Server....TERRIBLE!!!! Ugh, out a damper on the whole meal! Didn’t seem he liked or knew his job. After all the reviews about fantastic staff, this was a huge let down. Also surprised that at such a high end place, no ine from the front of house ever came to check in with us. The food and company made up for it! When you spend this kind of money on a special dinner, the service should be as good as the food! We had Beef Carpaccio Chicken Valdostana and a lovely pear torte w/gelato for dessert (I don’t recall the actual name). Highly recommend, just pray you get a better server than we did!
We showed up to the Commons a little early to explore the shops but found them closed. When we arrived at Stella and asked if we could have a glass of wine while we waited, the hostess was not helpful and suggested that we explore the grounds... in the pouring rain. Once we returned at our actual reservation time, we found a group of people in the waiting area all having something to drink. Not a great look.
However, once we were seated, the service and food were both great! We may have had higher expectations for the food and were surprised by the lack of choices for pasta and entrees. Everything we did try was delicious!
My first experience at Stella was about 20 years ago, and I've never been disappointed. If anything, it keeps getting better. A reliably lovely, elevating interlude whether you're marking an occasion or getting in some badly needed solo self-care time. A good third or fourth date test, too, if fine-dining is important to you in a relationship. I say third or fourth (at least), because you'll want to be pretty sure the person is worthy of it—and that if things don't work out, you won't mind running into them there.
Everything was wonderful! We will be back again!
An absolutely wonderful meal - our server was so knowledgable - gave great recommendations! Not a single complaint
We were celebrating our 27th anniversary and our experience was amazing!! The service was beyond excellent! Our waitress gave us wonderful recommendations and all were spot on!! She was the best!!! So attentive and such a great personality! The food was simply wonderful!! Beyond delicious! Highly recommend and we will for sure go back!!
Total attention to detail !! Wine, appetizer , dinner , dessert .
If you are looking for fine dinning excellent service this is definitely the place !!
I would rate Trattoria Stella a 10 thank you !!
A great place to eat a nice, fancy dinner. Very cool atmostsphere and staff is accommodating. But make sure to glance at your bill before paying for it. They almost charged us for a $47 bottle of wine that belonged to the table next to us. I'd still go back.
Excellent food and even better service. Love this place. Will be back again.
As always, a great meal with great service. Our server was extremely knowledgeable on every dish, wine, and cocktail and helped us make perfect choices.
For our first time visiting TC, we were not disappointed with the recommendation to go here. The food was amazing and our server, Shea, was the best!!! She answered every question we threw at her and helped us choose our meals. We started with some oysters, mussels and octopus. Highly recommend the spanish optopus. My mouth still waters when I think about it. For my entree, I did the Hake Picatta and it was delicious. Amazing food, amazing service, amazing vibe. I cannot wait to go back!!!
Had another great dinner at our favorite TC restaurant. From the fritelle and cheese board to all of our entrees (veal chop, steak and fish) and tiramisu for dessert, we enjoyed every bite. And the service was attentive and personal. We felt safe with Covid precautions also. Would highly recommend as usual!
Great experience! This was recommended to me by a few people for our trip to Traverse City and it lived up to the hype.
Always one of our favorite restaurants in TC because the food is awesome and the service is unbeatable. Nice to know they didn't dumb down the menu because of COVID.
I have visited here when I was in Traverse city every time.
The taste is the best in Michigan For me.
