Tillery Kitchen and Bar
Enjoy a cocktail, a glass of wine, or a beer with an entree or shareable from the menu. Infused with Mediterranian and French style cuisine, the menu provides options for those looking for something light to those who claim a more carnivorous passion. Try one item, try them all, or share with a friend. Come and relax on the East side of Austin.
They were having an off day. Had been here previously for a dinner party and it was fantastic. Service was incredibly slow, food came cold for some of our party. They do not offer lattes so if that's important to you, get one before coming. Was pretty disappointing. The ambience is very nice, great views overall nice venue but they are busy just know it might be slow
It was a great meal, not many options for a dinner menu.
My husband and I had a nice time for our anniversary brunch.
From the deck, we fully enjoyed our sunset view over the river as we enjoyed "wine on draft" and the best roasted Brussels sprouts ever. Everything was well prepared and delicious, service attentive, and the standing heaters and seating area fire pits warm and cozy. It reinforced why we live in Austin.
The ambiance and view are definitely the biggest selling points. Parking is valet only, even when if you arrive early and park yourself. Valet still wants your keys to move your car. We went for brunch and my two egg omelette with steak was so tiny, served on a tiny plate, and was $16. Not good value in my opinion. There are plenty of other brunch options in town that offer substantial plates for the same price. Probably won't be back.
Great restaurant to sit outside and enjoy the views on a sunny day!
We had a great time at brunch. The food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. This is a hidden gem.
Very very happy and supportive of pride. Seems incongruent to host an evening-style lounge singing event during daytime brunch.
Lovely setting and attentive service, but the curry was served cold and was a modest serving for the price. Fries were delicious.
The food was awesome. Worth the trip to Austin. We will be back!
Exceeded all expectations; food was fantastic, service great, and ambiance on point. Highly recommend for all types of requirements.
Nice setting looking down on the lake.
Our server Clarissa, was lovely.
I love Tillery, amazing location with amazing food
Nice quiet place, maybe 'cause it was game night hehe
The place is nice and beautiful but we tried to eat at the patio and we could not finish our meal because there were a lot of bees. We moved inside and finish our meal, the staff was nice and friendly. The food was ok, it could be better.
Very nice place. Would go back. Patio seems like it would be a star attraction in nice weather
We requested an inside table and were seated outside (in the rain) because there was an event going on inside.
Loved being able to sit outside in the shade. Food was enjoyed by everyone!
Booked a table and requested inside seating. Specifically chose this place for the option. First choice and second choice only had outdoor and being noon on an August day in Austin we were looking to stay cool. Got a call an hour before my reservation asking me if I wanted indoor or outdoor. Confirmed again I had booked indoor. Restaurant called me back a bit later and told me only outdoor open as they had a function. They asked if I wanted outdoor or to cancel. An hour before my reservation on a holiday Sunday? Kept the booking and asked to please be in the shade.
Got to restaurant and table half in the shade. Didn’t want to cause a scene so sat and let me out of town guests sit in the shade. Service was slow despite only 4-5 tables total full. Indoor at the restaurant sat empty almost the entire time we were there.
Server was nice but slow. Drinks didn’t flow, water bottle was empty unless we asked. Food was okay but note limited menu.
Not sure if just an off day or the lack of guest was indicative of a bigger issue. Not sure we can chance it given the number of options in Austin.
I’d read the other reviews here on open table and found that my experience was the same as most others. We walked up to the hostess stand and were taken into the restaurant where she pointed to a table across the room and said “It’s the 2nd one over there.” We made our best guess as to which one she meant and sat down.
Our server on the other hand was attentive and helpful with good suggestions for drinks and food.
The drinks were good and creative and the margarita did live up to the hype.
The food on the other hand... I had the curry rice, the chicken skewer was good but the curry was so salty I couldn’t finish it. My GF had the salmon. It was over cooked the risotto was a gooey lump and also salty as hell.
So like most who have commented here. The view is great the drinks a good but the food leaves a lot to be desired.
Always great however when it’s really hot outside and I plan a very expensive date as a matchmaker you may want to bring them inside if the weather is too hot
Our server kind of made the experience less fun. She seemed really disinterested and barely answered my questions. And we were her only table. It was our third anniversary so I was looking for a nice place to celebrate. It was fine. Great drinks. Good good. Poor to fair service. We actually overheard her selling a special watermelon margarita to a table close by, she never mentioned it to us.
Took family from Dallas for brunch, love this place and the food. Hidden gem that is so worth finding.
Pros: AMAZING views and ambience. Great drinks, great food, great service. I will most definitely be back.
Cons: Seating could have been a bit more comfortable, there were WAY too many flies (par for the course outdoors, but maybe there's a solution?) and the live music was too loud.
Great service, everyone was so friendly & welcoming. Complimentary valet was a big plus. Such a great place to just kick back & relax and enjoy the sunset. One of those places you wanna bring friends & family that are new to town. Will be back!
Dining at Tillery was a fairly average experience, in my opinion. The food was fine, though quite salty—even the salad. Beautiful patio and view, but the night we were there there was a loud, vulgar party that essentially took over the patio and rearranged furniture while cussing up a storm. Nothing was done by management. Our server was quite rude at the start of the meal, but did improve and eventually said there were some things going on behind the scenes that I don’t entirely blame her for. However, for the money we spent, a good view and average food just doesn’t cut it.
Sara, sorry your experience at Tillery wasn't wonderful. We are surprised by your information and will be looking into each one of them. On a Sunday night as on all our nights our patrons are generally quiet people and only our servers are allowed to move our furniture; we don't add salt to our salad, the beets are light colored because they are candied beets (not the deep red kind); and our servers should always maintain a friendly disposition. We hope you give us another try.
The food was atrocious. I ordered the ‘beet salad’ ... uninspired spring mix w/ what tasted like a store-bought balsamic dressing. It took me forever to find a beet, which was a tiny cube, white and completely void of any flavor. I got it w the cured salmon which I didn’t even bother tasting because it took was an off color and smelled so fishy/unappetizing. Beyond all of that, our server seemed cold and uninterested in our experience.
HellothereLJ, sorry you didn't like the beet salad. It consists of baby kale, radicchio, and candied beets (light pink, not the dark red beets) and the dressing is house-made. The salmon is curried using the Scandinavian method. On your next visit, please give our patrons' favorite salad a try - the Strawberry Caprese. Meanwhile, we will inform our servers of the impression they left upon you on that Sunday night. We apologize for their apathy. We will do better.
The patio and view are wonderful. However, the food leaves a lot to be desired.
Thank you for seeing the beauty of Tillery. Many people need a place to just relax and watch river water flowing to decompress after a long day. Our menu is limited as our kitchen is small; however, we have something for everyone - vegans, gluten free, and the carnivore. Which are you?
Went there for Mothers Day - there was a buffet and it was pretty average - nothing that stood out. We were charged a 20% gratuity even though we went to get our own food. Cool setting - would go back for drinks but probably no food.
The food was pretty good but a very short menu. We were a party of 5 & the 5th person was seated in a way they couldn't be close to the table or the convo. The rest of the restaurant was empty other than a long table with a bday group. With just that, it was really loud and we could barely hear anyone at our table. Carafe wine not something any of us would order again. The cocktail was good. We were there in cold weather, the outside area on the water looks like a great spot when it's nice out.
My best friend and I enjoy Tillery Kitchen because the menu is seasonal and the staff is awesome. Currently, they are serving what I term the "spring" menu which is fantastic. The hummus is great but you must order the Brussel sprouts. They are so damn good and sexy. Yes, I said sexy because they taste so good and when it's over your thinking "maybe one more time." My BFF had the grilled chicken skewers with the coconut curry rice and I had the steak frites. I enjoyed the steak and she really liked the chicken. The cocktails and wine selection is spot on. Tillery Kitchen is one of those cool places that really represent Austin and I've lived here for 32+ years. The staff is fun, attentive and want you to have a good experience.
Lovely spot for outside dining, casual, great food and service.
It's a beautiful outdoor setting. And bar area is great. Plenty of couches and tables and good wine and limited but diverse menu. Loved it.
Waited 40 minutes for drinks. No apology. We were as kind and as patient as possible. Server was really grouchy. Food wasn’t great. Drinks weren’t great. Patio is awesome but definitely not worth the price.
I would suggest this restaurant solely on the view and cocktails. Food was good but salty. Service is slow. Two separate servers were rude to our table. They made us feel as if us ordering food was ruining their day... The manager did comp our entire which was very kind.
Beautiful place. The chicken fingers were delicious.
The appetizers were delicious and delicate. Very beautiful to look at. We especially loved the brussel sprouts! The cocktails and appetizers came out quickly but it was well over a 35 minute wait for our mains and service did not really check in us during that period. Overall it was a lovely time though, and we will be back.
Beautiful outdoor seating with lovely nature to glance at. Menu is limited but the ingredient quality is superb. Only complaint is that they don't have as many food options got yhose with food intolerances.
Beautiful comfy patio and good food. We went on Tues night and had half price appetizers -- nice sized portions and mostly pretty tasty. Loved the Lox platter! Served with pita bread which is lighter and healthier -- comes with cream cheese and a lot of trimmings. Service by Danielle was excellent. (I think that's her name -- looks like Reese Witherspoon and used to be a lumberjack! How can you beat that?) She was extremely attentive. I wish the chairs were just slightly more comfortable. Probably my only complaint. But wonderful setting and ambience on the patio. We were there on a gorgeous crescent-moon night so that helped too!. Inside looked nice as well, with cool bar, but we didn't go in.
The space was beautiful and the food was good, but the logistics were bad all around. There was not enough wait staff for it being a moderately busy evening and the kitchen seemed overwhelmed. It took over an hour for appetizers, one was forgotten, and we didn't hear from our waitress for 40 minutes. When we finally got our food it was good, and particularly with the specials they had going, was a good value.
