Tierra del Sol is a restaurant that takes its name from the Mixtec song, a melody that has become an Oaxacan hymn.
Just like that nostalgic song, this place celebrates in its own way the culture of an exceptional people: the Mixtec or ñuu savi; the first does it with her poetry and the second with her food.
Our chef: Olga Cabrera, cook, is the architect of such gastronomic praise, and she achieves it from the knowledge and respect for an ancient cuisine that she inherited from the women of her family and her community, Huajuapan – in the heart of the Mixteca region of Oaxaca -, a knowledge that seasons with his special passion for traditional dishes.

    Sin dudarlo el mejor lugar donde comí en Oaxaca. Tuve la oportunidad de desayunar en Tierra del sol, muy amables todo el personal del restaurante te reciben como en casa, te muestran las diferentes estaciones que tienen en el primer piso, optamos por comer en terraza. Empezamos con un atole de guayaba, para los amantes de los sabores dulces este es el indicado, y pan de Masea, probamos una trenza de chocolate y un crumble de manzana, ambos increíblemente deliciosos. Pedimos de platillo fuerte unas enmoladas y enfrijoladas, y fue el mejor mole que he probado en mi vida. Aparte nos encantó que incluía un plato de fruta y café de la olla con refil todo el tiempo. Disfrutamos bastante la visita, solo recomendaría ir con mucho apetito y espacio para probar de todo.

    Service was impeccable from the moment we arrived to the moment we stepped out the door. The menu was extensive and unique and our server David did an incredible job explaining everything and making excellent recommendations. The staff was bilingual and gave us the choice of Spanish or English. I loved that the menu was so seasonal as well. One of the recommendations David made was a tamarind mole that is only in season for a couple months during the year. It was delicious! The terrace was a perfect spot to see the city and enjoy traditional food. I will be recommending this restaurant to everyone I know!

    I cannot recommend Tierra Del Sol enough. Especially if you get a seat on the roof deck. Great food, impeccable service, perfect drinks, and great view. Make reservations and go!
