Dining on the patio was great, with a heat lamp if needed. Our servers were attentive and new sommelier Julian was very personable. Had the shrimp and scallops and it was good, but not as flavorful as I had hoped.

My short ribs were amazing, perfectly seasoned and soo tender, and the couscous that accompanied it was very delicious. My husband’s food however, was very disappointing. His New York Strip was undercooked and lacked flavor…as did the brussel sprouts and truffle macaroni and cheese. Although, he did say that his garlic mashed potatoes were good. The butter cake was delicious as well. The waiter took a little while to warm up, but overall, service was good. We might go back again.

Both the service and food quality vs price were poor. We had to remind our server several times to bring us water - it showed up way after we ordered our wine. The pasta and quinoa were prepared poorly - not worth $30 a plate. Would not come back.

The wine list was very good and had both moderately priced bottles as well as very high, we enjoyed the wine we had. The main courses we had were just ok and did not have much flavor. The sides were very good. We had the pork belly lollipops, duck and short ribs. The duck portion was also small for $35. The waiter took our main course order after we had ordered our appetizers which was fine. He neglected however to ask us about salad and quickly moved to another table. I waved him over and he said if we wanted salad, we better hurry up to order because he put in the main course. I had waived him back to our table within 2 minutes when he stated this. We ordered the salad and another server attempted to serve our main course before we had finished our salad. She took it back which likely meant it sat in the kitchen until we finished our salad. Our water glasses also were never refilled. Also, when I made the reservation I noted it was our anniversary. The waiter never acknowledged this even though it was noted on the reservation. Overall, it was an average dinner but considering it was a $200 bill pre tip, I feel it is reasonable to assume the food would be very good as well as the service.

Service was outstanding, she was very efficient, knowledgeable and nice however the food was certainly not worth its price tag.

We got Brussels sprouts, pork belly lollipops, Caesar salad
& 2 of chef’s special, the venison and crab stuffed halibut.

All appetizers were good but my biggest pet peeve is ordering a salad & it’s not cut or tossed.. presentation or whatever but it’s just not my preference.

The halibut was so dry and on a huge bed of peas. I let the server know it wasn’t good when she asked how the food was. I barely ate any of it, just picked at the crab. The venison was good but the bed of black risotto was extremely soggy.

First drink I ordered was the bourbon renewal and it was full of ice, other drinks were great.

Staff was welcoming and friendly...great view by the window. Drink selection was really good...however, steak was overpriced, fatty and not very flavorful. Short ribs were served with cous-cous that tasted like mac-n-cheese. Bread was excellent but they charge you $6 for bread service. Asparagus fries were not crunchy and needed seasoning and were over priced at $11. Same for the bland and overpriced Caesar salad. I would go back for a cocktail, but not to dine.

Everything was amazing, our waiter was awesome. The pork belly lollipops appetizer was soo good, you have to try it. As well as the bread, it’s nicely warm baked fresh. Good for a starter appetizer. The entrees amazingly done to perfection, the steak was done perfect, along with the grilled asparagus with hollandaise sauce. And the jumbo scallops and shrimp, perfect. There cocktails, so good. The dessert is “oh my god” Nothing bad to say about this restaurant, I would recommend this place to friends and family looking for a great winery restaurant with great food and cocktails. Along with anyone looking for a great atmosphere. I will diffidently be back again.

A beautiful restaurant with good service, they are all nice and very knowledgeable of the menu, but the food was mediocre at best for the price range, when we complained about it they offered to take it of our check, and also gave us the option to order something else, maybe it was an off day, two of our main courses were delicious, and we hope we can give it another try soon

Drinks arrived before food - champagne toast arrived as we had one oyster left. Dinner was the same. We ordered a beautiful bottle of red wine and we were nearly finished while waiting an hour for our entrees.
The wine list is really expensive- triple retail.

I just wanted to make sure I write this review to express my gratitude for the great employees at The Winery Restaurant. Yesterday was one of the best Mother’s Day‘s I’ve ever had thanks to the great service, great food, and great drinks we received. I consider myself to the lemon drop queen, and the lemon drops here were PREFECT!food was seasoned to perfection! Only think was the Mac could use some “umph” to it, but was good w/the meal. My mom and I were excited to try this restaurant because of the stellar reviews. We went with my God-mother and God-sister, who also thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the meal. As I was in there, I was actually texting others raving about how great it was. Our reservation did start off a little shaky because we checked in late and had to miss the brunch options, but I wasn’t tainted by that so much because I had already looked at the menu and saw some great options prior to going there on Mother’s Day. Our waiter was Dakota. There was a couple of times or he forgot a couple of things. I’m assuming this happened because it was a busy day and bouncing from table to table can be hectic. But he redeemed himself with his awesome personality and great knowledge of the menu and drink options. I also got a kick out of him because I told him he’s the second person I’ve met with that name and I always said if I had another child the name would be Dakota. He said maybe it was our server yesterday (on Mother’s Day) so that was funny. We had a great time! Jonathan came around to our table a few times and he was great. Super nice, very attentive, great energy and a nice smile :) On our way out, we also met Michael, who was great, as well. We cracked a couple of jokes with him about masks and I expressed to him how great Jonathan was. We also talked a bit about the music selection here, which was great yesterday. It was such a good vibe. We talked and laughed the entire time. Thank you all so much for an awesome Mother’s Day! See you soon!!

The waitress was wonderful but overworked. She wasn't able to keep up with us, but clearly because she was managing to many tables. When our food came, two of the dishes were incorrect and one of them was inedibly burnt. It's unfortunate because I've eaten here for dinner and it was wonderful. I would recommend coming for dinner, but not brunch.

We went for Mother's Day brunch, a prix fixe menu of 2 courses for $55 per person. The choices for starter and entree were aplenty. However, there were all sorts of problems. The wait staff got one of our starters wrong twice! The poke seemed to have no sauce, so it was almost tasteless, but otherwise fresh fish. The burrata starter was skimpy, had almost no tomato, one very small heirloom cut into 4 pieces. Then, for entrees, one of us had the short rib hash with eggs. There was literally one tiny piece of short rib and we had to send it back. Also, my egg white frittata had sat under the heat lamps and gotten overcooked and tough, so were the eggs on the first short rib hash.
I would definitely NOT return on any kind of holiday. They are not equipped to cook and serve properly, plus for what we got, it was incredibly overpriced. The Winery in Tustin has given us much nicer food and better value. Expensive, but worth it. So disappointed in The Winery La Jolla on Mother's Day.
