   The ambience of the former bank lobby is unusual but very pleasant. The set-up of the Vault is not completely comfortable for dining -- couches and cocktail tables. The hostess did accommodate us by substituting some high-back bar chairs for the stools at one of the high-tops. The food was solid, but not great. The service was very friendly and cheerful, though not entirely error free.

   The food and service were so good - above expectations even! The Georgian flatbread and devils on horseback were favorites. That said, the ambience was a bit of a let down - there is a strange cafeteria light in the corner of the bar which makes it feel very commercial and cold. It would be a huge improvement and make it feel much more high end and intentional to change that lighting or put up a screen there’s Also, I feel the mark was missed on how the vault is being utilized - how cool would it be to make that into a dark cocktail lounge with some bench seating and moody lighting? Right now it feels under utilized. This is such a cool spot and could put downtown Roanoke on the map, so I am hopeful it will season with age!

   Wonderful food and drinks. We had a great waiter and the ambience was lovey. A hidden gem! Perfect date night spot. The dessert - pots au chocolate was one of the best things we’ve ever eaten!

   Stayed overnight on Valentine’s Day and had reservations. We had the Valentine menu, sharing the dumplings and meatballs for appetizers, then getting beef Wellington and Peruvian skewers for main. All the courses we had were delicious and we had time to finish each one before the next came out. We also enjoyed the Saffron Sunset cocktail and a couple different draft beers. We finished with cheesecake and hummingbird cake, which were also very good. Our server was very attentive without being overbearing, and kept us well supplied with everything we needed.

   Although we’ve eaten at the vault many times sitting in the vault was a real treat. Cozy we had a great waitress, and the food and drink was yummy as always.

   We made reservations for drinks prior to dinner (elsewhere), and were greeted and seated promptly and professionally. We decided to get a cheese plate appetizer and it was just great. Multiple cheeses, bread, crackers, fruit, nuts and a dipping sauce that we really enjoyed. The server, drinks, and atmosphere topped it off nicely, so we'll be back with friends soon!
